It's really good see you try something new and hear how much you're enjoying it. Slapchop is a great way to knock out models quickly but everyone should be encouraged to try something they haven't before and I fully agree that layering is such a relaxing way to paint.
Some things that may help: you can layer* up from dark to light, and you can glaze the lighter colour over to blend the transition but you'll find it easier using a thin glaze of the darker colour to blend the transition between the two. The white pigments in paler colours do not glaze as smoothly, compared to coloured pigments (assuming paint quality is roughly the same). For example, put a tinted mint green over a mid green but use a thinned mid green to glaze between those too, rather than thinning the mint. You can achieve similar transitions going either way (and your paint job looked fab) but the paint will fight you less if you do this.
*P.s. it's not that important but you're muddling the terminology a bit. Layering is pretty much what you did here - putting different coloured layers on top of one another to achieve colour transitions. Glazing is just a very intense version of this with more transparent/thinned paint - normally to filter the colour underneath or to achieve a very smooth transition. What you were describing as blending the different colours whilst they're wet is just 'wet blending'.
Looks brilliant, all the turtles together would look great on a shelf.

I just recently learned how to wet blend and I think you would have liked wet blending the front torso a lot better than glazing it but it still looks great with the glazing.

Your turtle looks fantastic man. You’ve improved so much since I’ve been watching you. You make me want to start my own channel.
The way I’ve been doing my models lately
Zenithal highlight, usually in an appropriate color.
Wash the model. Thinned down black wash usually.
Drybrush and slapchop it up from there.
Then use layering and glazing to clean up and blend all the scratchy slapchop textures. I basically use the slapchop+zenithal wombo as a shadow map to see where I need to push my highlights.
Basically Dana Howls “slapchop+”. I love the results.

You are evolving! A quite good first attempt! - You seem to have at least a rudimentary understanding of lighting, but you did not always follow through when choosing where to add specular highlights. For example, the zenithal highlight came from the top right side and you clearly used this as a guideline on the left side of his face, neck and shoulders, and kept the opposite side in shadow. Yet, you chose to starkly highlight his abs from the lower lefthand side, implying a different light source than the zenithal one, but you did not replicate this anywhere else. Next thime, always have your light sources in mind!
Also, you really did not glaze anything in this video - it was almost only layering and a wash on his lips. Glazing would require you to severely thin down your paints, much, much more than you did in this video, and then only have a tiny amount of the glaze in your brush, so that when you glide the brush across the surface, the paint layer is so thin that it dries immediately. This only leaves a tiny amount of pigment on the surface, hence you can subtlely influence colour transitions etc.
I remember back when you didn't like doing painting. You've really improved. Well done.

Really nice job although that paint was was to opaque for glazing and this was more layering rather than glazing but ended up nice 👍🏻
