I looked up the woman with the cat. Her name was Lois January; along with The Wizard of Oz, she did a lot of westerns and B-movies. She passed away in 2006, at the age of 92.
I love that John Waters actually "gets it". -Lol. My favorite scene was when she came pedaling out to the farm house on that bicycle, wearing that hat. Even the music was perfect for that scene. Hahahaha
Farnsworth: As for you, young lady, you want to go home, right? Leela: No, not anymore. I wanna stay here and become the new Wicked Witch. Farnsworth: Nonsense. Now click your big, honking boots together three times and wish to go home to Kansas, to live in poverty with your dirt-farming, teetotalling aunt and uncle. Leela: Uh, alright. Here I go. [She clicks her boots together three times.] There's no place like-- I wanna be a witch!
john is a vewy stwange man...j/k..hey john..Baltimore guy born feb. 1946...raised down frankford ave..near st anthonys..(ne balt).glad you lived your dreams...that's a good thing,, mike..xx
When i was a kid in the 70s they would always show 3 movies on tv that i loved, the wizard of oz chitty chitty bang bang and willy wonka. I've been to the city in northern Minnesota where Judy Garland was born and they have the house she lived in next to a museum about her. In fact I went to L.A. on vacation last october and saw her star but i forgot my camera so i didn't get a picture of it.
What I always remember about the witch is that Margaret Hamilton was badly burned on set, filming the scene where which she disappears in smoke and flame. She thought about suing the studio, but knew that if she did she would never get work in Hollywood again.

Wrong, her name was Helen Seamon.

"I wanted to have green skin, which as I am getting old is coming true" hahahah this man is a gem!
I met John Waters 3 times and he was lovely each time.
Margaret Hamilton deserved an Oscar nomination for this!
Thank you John Waters for critique of "The Wizard of Oz". You are an icon to be cherished for all time !
I always laugh when John wonders why Dorothy wanted to go back to Kansas.

EXACTLY the reason I couldn't figure out this movie!
"Go anywhere you can in the universe and get a look at it." - John Waters

Wow, the video compression on this is like a Bacon painting
this guy is awesome
i completely lost it when he talked about the obscure scene
Mr. Waters and The Wizard of Oz are two American treasures 🤩
Did John Waters do a full commentary for this movie?? I'd loooove to hear that while watching the movie.

lovely as usual - love him!!!
The Wicked Witch of the West is the first villain I ever remember from the movies.
I remember having to hide my eyes, she scared me so badly!
“Why would she want to go back to Kansas anyway?!”
I've wondered about the woman holding the cat too!
Helen Seamon
After watching this , I'm on my way to shop at ""Hefty Hide-away!''
Just don’t ask how much is the doggie in the window lol
Greatest movie ever made.
signed "www margaret hamilton"....now that is damn funny
i just cant disagree with anything he says
the most funny man in the world !
John Waters, one of the people I would, most like to have dinner with.
Would Armistead Maupin make another great guest at the same table?
wonder if he's watched it with Dark Side Of The Moon
I think he would not like the music. He is not a fan of hippies.
he likes them if they were in the Manson family.
best film of all time
The woman with the cat looks like Julie from the Jolson story
The Witch was great
john fucking waters
haven't we all?
Eggs! Eggs! God! God!
to be fair, everyone in Kansas back then was mean and dressed badly.
They still are and they still do.
