On the way to Vietnam we stopped in San Antonio Lackland AFB for 'pre combat' training. I was selected honor graduate, and because of that the only security policeman from my unit selected to go to Ranger school in Phan Rang Vietnam. Heavy weapons and small unit tactics, specialized training, combat SWAT, returned to my base to be nearly hit with rockets and still have PTSD from it to this day. I never heard of these people and I'm sure they never heard of us.

You'll hear then, because you'll be living on an Army post. They will ask you "what desk do you fly?" You'll learn to just laugh it off. Then, when they see you calling in an air strike on a target, it's like the wonder that a dog gets when he looks at his Master in awe for simply throwing a frisbee. They won't ask you that question again.
