If the RAH-66 Comanche was not cancelled there would have been a new stealth attack helicopter many years ago. The Apache is a great weapons platform but is aging.
FARA program was cancelled I think. They figured out that drones are a cheaper solution both for recce and attack without putting lives on the line. Helicopters imo in the future are only going to serve as troop transport/medic
The cancellation of f a r a is just another example of the United States being continually asleep at the wheel and continually get in its ass kicked right off in the beginning of any engagement.
To bad it's not going to happen, I was a big fan of the RAH- 66 Comanche. It seems like every time they get close to a prototype it's already obsolete. Just like this one it has already been cancelled.
Aha, the Program was cancelled in February 2024…..! The DoD spent $19.6 billion from 2006 to 2024. Didn’t even get a working prototype. FINALLY, the DoD recognized a UAV can do all the jobs expected of a Reconnaissance helicopter….
@@Justone372 Yes, adjusted for inflation. The Army tested a prototype advanced version of the Bell 206, then Boeing developed the Comanche. Then developed the Bell 360 Invictus and Raider X. They all failed….. finally, the US Army has been confronted with the reality of the war in Ukraine and reconnaissance drones and cancelled a maned reconnaissance helicopter. Your tax dollars at work - PS, I’m a ex-Cobra and Apache pilot and worked the on Boeing RH-66 program.
in the 1980's it was figured the pentagon spent 20,000+ dollars for a toilet. in canada the armed forces waste their funding because if not spent it's automatically taken from them next year since they clearly didn't need it.
the stub wings on the Invictus could do with some active moving surfaces, such as trailing edge flaps for additional lift & a single underwing hard point (optional) . . .
I think that the Pentagon has made a huge mistake by canceling the FARA program because the 360 Invictus bell helicopter is one radical attack helicopter.
yeah, they don’t want this to work because it will cost money .The MIC ,loves the B-52 ,They want old stuff ,paid for already, but they want to charge the same amount to the military so yes, this works…like the Commanche.
They made a movie about this attack platform in 1984 with the pilot in the back and the gunner in the front, The movie was called The Last Starfighter, most favorite movie
This chopper should be able destroy also ships, subs, flying missiles, nuke silos & bunkers. It is also a great back up for the mechanized infantry 24/7.
Invictus looks to be the evolution of Cheyenne and Comanche. Which means it would have never gotten accepted and kept in perpetual R&D instead. Somebody in army aviation needs to stop clutching their pearls all the time and grow a spine and actually put it into service. We're wasting too much money playing these games.
*CORRECTION !!! THE BELL OH-58 KIOWA WARRIOR WAS NOT DEVELOPED IN THE 60'S... THIS HELICOPTER WAS DEVELOPED BY CARDOEN INDUSTRIES FROM CHILE IN THE 80'S. THEY BASED THEIR HELICOPTER ON A "BELL 206 L-III" AND INVITED PERSONAL OF BELL TO WORK ALONG WITH THEM. THE HELICOPTER WAS SO GOOD THAT PASSED ALL TESTS AND BELL ASKED THE CHILEAN MAKER TO BRING THE HELICOPTER TO THE U.S. --- WHEN THE HELICOPTER WAS BROUGHT TO FLORIDA; BELL STOLE THE HELICOPTER AND SINCE THE U.S. HAD SOME BEEF WITH THE OWNER OF CARDOEN INDUSTRIES, THEY NEVER RETURNED IT, WHICH IT HAD NEW AND SOPHISTICATED TECHNOLOGIES... WHEN BELL HAD THE HELICOPTER, THEY REPRODUCED IT AS THERE OWN... THE NAME OF THE CHILEAN HELICOPTER WAS "GUERRERO" WHICH IN ENGLISH IS "WARRIOR"... BELL CALLED IT: "KIOWA WARRIOR".* *CHEERS*
Dude, when I was in HS I dreamed of flying the Apache replacement, the Light Helicopter Experimental (Lhx) Comanche. This looks just like that one. There was even a cpu game out. 4 bladed, internal storage bays for stealth…. Oh, then I watched the video…my bad.
I still think it needs the enclosed tale rotor. Most helicoptors have accidents due to the tale rotor. I feel with it being inclosed that would support it's mission purposes complimenting this awesome design.
Just my personal opinion on the attack helicopters. They need to be down sized to a single pilot operation. More power plant and weapons technology. They have a purpose as close ground support. They need to be used in conjunction with drones monitoring the battlefield and taking on the more dangerous elements of the battlefield to save the helicopters. That’s just me!
I still think the RAH66 looked sleeker, but alas.... was a money-sink in its development. It is good to see that the lessons taken from that design have endured... but can you imagine instead of horizonal rotary lift....Bell develop a Tiltrotor encased Hybrid-Electric Turbofan system? much like the fictional Orca Aircraft from the Command & Conquer franchise? It seems more and more viable with the progression of Bell Boeing designs. I think they are going to be around for a long while and pushing the envelope of future aircraft, and potentially space craft in the not-too-distant future.
Weapon systems are being built now with a hive mind so that AI can run it it's more important than its interconnected than it is in a strong weapons platform
I think they should refine it to be both stealthier, from radar and thermals, and be more modular such as being able to be outfitted with cargo or a personnel bay to escort troops at high speed. It would make the helicopter look like a much better deal to the Army/Marines/Navy.
In modern warship app game Sim it's very good for it's class thumbs up and if military agents really needed it with out cost reverse engineering is a improvised alternative
I like the Invictus it's really nice but you really should do something about the gas mileage I think it should be able to fly more than $190 me maybe you should stick some internal external gas tanks on those little wings you got on it
FARA was CANCELED two months ago. Helicopter don't need more speed as they are too vulnerable to act as scouts. Drones are the future of scouting and attack helicopters will use those to stay out of danger and mark the targets. 5 minutes of actual googling the subject would have told you this video is obsolete. The US has no futuristic helicopters in design. The only attack helicopter nowadays in testing and next to service is the AW249 and is not from the USA.
I would like to see an optional 30mm gun, or mini gun. A chain gun is good too, however they usually need the barrels inspected about every 3500 rounds. I think the missile system is ok however I don't know much about it, the targeting range needs to be about 10 miles minimum. The French Tiger is probably as good, it's a shame they aren't supported well.
JULY 2024 This 360 invictus helicopter must be brought into service. It'll look awesome with a gapping mouth with shark teeth on its front and sides leading up to the lift wings. 🇬🇧Ⓜ️🇬🇧👍🇺🇸👍🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Thing about drones is,what happens when some one works out how to disrupt the signal that controls the drone or worse hacks in wirelessly and take control.
I mean a large size drone that you can actually sit in and fly sometimes I think America likes to stay in the past until they have to move forward with stuff
This so good helicopter 🚁 combat attack especially night wars safe guard securities system make it more bells makers 📢 ferpect but need emergency anti crushed parachute top heads rotors propeller 🚁📢☝️🤷
The system looks fantastic but at what cost in dollars. Weapons system are becoming prohibitively expensive. Could this helicopter be delivered at a cost that we can afford. Would our closest NATO allies want to purchase them also to help drive down the cost of production?
If the RAH-66 Comanche was not cancelled there would have been a new stealth attack helicopter many years ago.
The Apache is a great weapons platform but is aging.
The Apache has been continuously upgraded. The E model was designed to be able to integrate new technologies.
Then create an unmanned attack reconnaissance helicopter scout.
I must say, US can really come up with very nice design. Impressive
FARA program was cancelled I think. They figured out that drones are a cheaper solution both for recce and attack without putting lives on the line. Helicopters imo in the future are only going to serve as troop transport/medic
That’s what I saw and was because of what they are learning in Ukraine war
IDF also thought so, and they found out the hard way on 7th october they were wrong.
110% correct. MONTHS AGO
no theyre stupid because theytre putting more stress and strain on the already hold AH-64
The cancellation of f a r a is just another example of the United States being continually asleep at the wheel and continually get in its ass kicked right off in the beginning of any engagement.
The helicopter you're featuring has been canceled.
Duh.. You were told that in the video.
Has it ,you got to ask yourself would they tell you the TRUTH
Mr. Robot is just trying to get likes.....
That helicopter looks Boss
A thing of beauty!
A very sleek body and all around cool looking helicopter.
Keep making them!!

the stub wings on the Invictus could do with some active moving surfaces, such as trailing edge flaps for additional lift & a single underwing hard point (optional) . . .
Flaps have no effect on helicopters. The wings are not for lift, the rotor system is.
@@bks252 Any Lift is Lift. Maybe not so much at low forward speed but at higher speed, it could improve range, fuel consumption, efficiency, etc.
The Comanche it's looks more invent than any other designed Helicopter ever.
I think that the Pentagon has made a huge mistake by canceling the FARA program because the 360 Invictus bell helicopter is one radical attack helicopter.
Attack helicopters will be obsolete in the near future, the future is unmanned attack drones.
God bless US Air force 🙏🙏
Drones are killing it world wide.next
A beautiful chopper
'Cancelled because it's ahead of its time?' No wonder the US is in trouble!
STILL gonna need people to defend and fight ...and gonna need the BEST equipment to do the job
yeah, they don’t want this to work because it will cost money .The MIC ,loves the B-52 ,They want old stuff ,paid for already, but they want to charge the same amount to the military so yes, this works…like the Commanche.
Go for it !
It can be a drone carrier.
Bad ass sweet ride
20 years back... there is a war game "Comanche"....in that game the main role is this chopper..
They made a movie about this attack platform in 1984 with the pilot in the back and the gunner in the front, The movie was called The Last Starfighter, most favorite movie

That thing is cool looking love it
Personally, I think that the RAH 66 Commache would have been a better choice.
Cool chopper 👍

Tilt rotor is probably the best option. Blend of copter and aircraft.
You must create a stealth missile system.
What would be really cool if you turn a helicopter with the Gatling gun of the a-10 warthog😮
I still think it needs the enclosed tale rotor. Most helicoptors have accidents due to the tale rotor. I feel with it being inclosed that would support it's mission purposes complimenting this awesome design.

Ukraine has shown us the way already.
buy them both
Also on the side you should cover up the pilots better and get cameras if they want to look out the side put more armor there unless window
The Comanche was cancelled for the same reason
Glad somone else knows this story haha
Ya, sure. And the F35 is a gem, too...
Department of Defense should go ahead and build them. We will need them.
That's a shame it was cancelled because I'd like to see a fly off of the Bell 360 INVICTUS and the AH-1 VIPER! 😊❤

They need to bring the Comanche back man, idk why they cancelled it.
Nice
The simulator for the RAH-66 was awesome, as was its mission capabilities. Shame they ultimately cancelled it.

It eerily familiar. Looks based on the South Africa Rooifalk attack helicopter created in the 80's.
I think they should refine it to be both stealthier, from radar and thermals, and be more modular such as being able to be outfitted with cargo or a personnel bay to escort troops at high speed. It would make the helicopter look like a much better deal to the Army/Marines/Navy.
This country is afraid of change and should have built this.
In modern warship app game Sim it's very good for it's class thumbs up and if military agents really needed it with out cost reverse engineering is a improvised alternative
Drones are a superior choice on so many levels. Copters like this are like battleships in WW2.. obsolete..
It's like a shark, dragon fly and Pufferfish in designed combination
With today options the u.s. military has I would be 3d reverse engineering like everything
I gave up watching -- so much duplication -- Its like hearing the same thing over and over....
Like a Kamala Harris speech
I'm in Huntsville, AL I've seen the new Helicopter
.
Wasn’t the double rotor faster than the Invictus, just asking?
A large drone style quad copter with two seats and weapons would be more stable and durable for attack purposes.
They should build some.
survivability of this helo against defensive capabilities and cost of drones and ease of control at less cost a massive issue
Looks like an updated version of the cobra.

In a full scale war you will need attack helicopters, just how Israel is using Apache even though they are vulnerable

Said the same thing about the one that was supposed to replace the Apache. Guess what? It DIDN'T happen!
A very impressive Copter!
But unlike an Apache Helicopter, I do not see any Hellfire Missiles, and so it may not do as well in combat.
What about Graywolf & Blackwolf ?
What I don't understand is is they don't develop a drone like helicopter because there are more maneuverable faster
It will need an EMP or scalar dampening fields to drop any incoming drones!
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The Comanche has an internal tail rotor. This one has an external rotor.

Loved the design of the original Comanche helicopter. Too bad it never materialized into actual service
7. Denel AH-2 Rooivalk (South Africa) Also had a 20 mil cannon in the front. Type in RooiValk
Very fort helicopter
Bell's just ripping of the Boeing-Sikorsky RAH-66 Commanche now?
Thing about drones is,what happens when some one works out how to disrupt the signal that controls the drone or worse hacks in wirelessly and take control.
They canceled it.
Realy I like this powerful helicopteres I will like to have infinit numbers
I hope this one has better luck than the Comanche from Boeing. $7 billion just pissed down the drain for that thing.
China will imitate that.
