The build quality looks incredible, and within 10 years the carpet and decor which I prefer over vintage farmhouse will most likely be back in style👍
I think that's their plan... to stay with one look for so long it comes back in style
Fully agree! I love natural wood tones over white paint any day. I will still buy a new trailer BUT it's getting carpet except at the exterior door space and bathroom. I vacuum our stick built everyday, I can handle a 8 X 24 floor .... no problem 😬
The only bad thing about Northwood products......once you have been through one, it's hard to settle for anything else. Nash's, Arctic Fox, ORV's are in a whole different realm of quality.
It is true
It’s like a Hanzo sword or RVs
They sure don't build them in Indiana like they do in Oregon! Ron Nash was a superstar!
Truly was
Thank you Amy! Love that 5th wheel. I think that interior decor just has that classic old school RV look. Very nice.
Thx for sharing some kindness 😊
Great job Amy! It does get easier every time, it's just getting use to sharing your knowledge like you do everyday.
She’s awesome. She’s going to do so well in this business
Thanks Amy. Don’t stand too close to Josh. You’ll catch is Nerd!
Hahahha
Amy great job helping out Josh's video on his Video and I am still waiting for 25Y review because I am a 25Y owner but will be moving into a 25R sometime in the future. Once you have had an Artic Fox there is no going back to anything else.
I have that one coming. I just need to ask a little bit of patience. 😊
Thank you, Amy! 😊
Thanks Amy
I will let her know
It’s a nice 5th wheel, but to big for me to tow. For the price of Northwood RV’s they should include the tank heaters. Nice no Swinteck slides. More manufactures should design their RV’s so you can access the bathroom and bedroom when in transit like this 5th wheel. Amy don’t worry about being nervous. We all were at one time . Thanks for helping Josh. Nice video.
I like this fifth Josh! It’s very nice! I love the colors and storage. The shower is a very good size not like a radius shower. Like that there’s a seat in it. Love the wardrobe closet.
Thank you for showing this Rv. See you soon Josh!
Awesome! Thank you!
This is quietly, soothingly rich in colors, and quality, placement, construction, yup, love it!!! ❤️
It’s elegant for sure
Thanks, Amy! Good job!!! Great video, Josh!!!! Great built rv! I agree with the extra awning! Also....I would like different refrigerator options. Bigger bathroom....and still not a fan of the shower and we need nightstands by the bed (don't like where the outlets are located in the bedroom either). Love all the storage and a jacket closet by the door!!! I am okay with the decor because I can always change it. And the recliners and extra size love seat....great!
Amy is awesome
WOW!!! Awesome camper. I’d say this is more glamping than camping. One could live full time in this thing. Takes a BIG truck to pull it.
It really is!
Great job Amy. Loved the artic fox. So homey for a full time camper. Take care and stay safe.
Thanks! You too!
Thanks for the help Amy. WoW! i do like this one.
Amy is awesome. She’s the one that cut my teeth in Northwood stuff
Love that island! Wow! So much storage!!!💖💖💖
Thank you Amy !!!
You are so welcome!
Great job Amy! That unit looks amazing.
It really is!
OK Josh you can deliv3r this one right to my home!😊😊 Now if only I could find 5hat winning Lottery ticket 😊😊 This one's really nice😊😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Yeah I keep losing mine too lol
@Josh the RV Nerd at Bish's RV l
Lol 😁 just think if we could both find our lottery tickets 🎟, it also would be nice to find hearty winning tickets 🎟 for both of us as well😊😊
6:18 I really like how they went out of their way to put some angles on the cabinets, which means they had to customize the countertops to fit. Just not your standard “bank of cabinets” screwed together. Great video nerd and I’m not even done watching it yet.😅
The cabinet shop is pretty amazing
Less Northern Exposure and more class, I like it! I hope this trickles into the truck campers too.
I don't feel a little interior touch up would hurt these. I feel like they could update a bit without losing their "feel"
@@JoshtheRVNerd As long as they keep making these things like Ft. Knox, they can decorate them with ribbons and lace for all I care, I’ll still consider them!
I'd add my own color splashes, but it seems a calming color. An I old? 😉
Would put in a larger tv to take up empty space all around the one there. Love it!!
I could see that
Great video on a great RV builder. They don't compare to anything built in Indiana that we have looked at. We are on our second Arctic Fox and I LOVE the fact that the interior isn't white everywhere. Yuk. Also, carpet helps insulate!
Everyone that thinks the shower is small, you should look at one in person. About the comments on the floor vents, you can have style or you can have function and I will pick function every time. We have been boondocking in our 2018 AF at 0 degrees with a 35 mph wind and we were comfortable. Not getting by, but comfortable like at home. We have also been comfortable and maintain inside temps in the mid 70s with temps in the 100's outside with a single 13,500 btu AC, with electric hookups of course. ;) . We haven't regretted buying ours for a minute and feel they are very underrated! Good job showing off many of the points most people miss about them.
Also, good job Amy!
Yeah, those showers or anything but small. They are not using the same tiny corner shower you commonly seen a little campers.
Thank you so much for sharing. Your experience is an actual owner. I think that speaks volumes, more than anything I could ever say… Which is a lot obviously lol.
If there was one thing I could change about Arctic Fox it'd be the floor vents, of course.
Way to go Amy!
👍🏻
They can't really replace those since it's part of the heated underbelly which allows you to camp in sub-zero temps. I was down to -26 in mine last month with a skirt and still had running water and a working refrigerator.
@@jasoncarter5448That's great, but it doesn't protect someone who walks with a cane and was told the next fall could kill them. I was simply stating that I'd change it if I could. I'm glad it works for you, but I can still be concerned that it might kill my wife. No, it's not really feasible to physically change an existing unit that's already been built, but making a consumer's needs and preferences known is the only way they can be addressed. We're asked to leave feedback, so I do.
And all the cabinets match!! YES!!!
🙌🏻
FABULOUS...PERIOD Josh. Love those Northwoods...PERIOD. will in Florida
Josh that's the way to do it but what a monster don't think I could handle 39 ft. Really like it though !
I generally agree with Erin. At first.. it's white knuckle. Then you just.. drive it
Amy you did great. Wonderful camper
I think so too!
Great job Amy😊😊👍👍👍👍👍
😊
That is a great looking unit. If I were looking for a 5th wheel I think this would be the one.
Nice pick
Looks good, just wish cargo capacity was higher.
GOOD JOB Amy
She’s awesome
I like the individual recliners. I've got the ADHD fidgets and that pairs much better with individual seating. My only complaint with artic fox is no 12 volt fridge option.
With two way fridges slowly being retired at some point, I think they’re going to be forced into making that change
Next time you're at a show and there are several people plus you bumping around inside a trailer, and you notice that the chain on the ceiling fan isn't even swaying, or the blinds aren't moving. Nothing is creaking and popping as people move around. Then go outside and notice that the stabilizers are probably still up. That's when you know you're in a Northwood.
Yes! 💪🏻
Thanks
Welcome!
I love my 2008 Northwoods Nash for it's build quality and live it in during the winter. Signal digits lows happen fairly often. I don't even need to use my tank heaters during this times. They are a true 4 season RV in my opinion. The only two things I wish they would offer is a 12v or residential fridge option. I hate that my Norcold freezer doesn't keep my ice cream and frozen pizzas frozen. I also get a lot of freezer burn from my freezer. I'd love a front living room or kitchen with rear bedroom because my neighbor and his company make to much noise with my bed right up front and I need my sleep.
I suspect they're going to HAVE to start offering something other than just these 2-way models as the makers of those fridges continue to dial back production of them
Love the videos. I'm looking at a reflection 150 series 226rk. Have you done any videos on this type of rv and what are your thoughts on this rv. Thank you for all the information you give on all the rvs that are out there.
I’ve done a video on Rockwoods version of that floor plan that was out several years ago, but have not yet had the opportunity to get to that specific unit. Though it is definitely on my hit list.
AF has a lot going for it. I would like to see a 12 volt fridge option and some options like other mfg are offering.(carpet less, different interior colors, hydraulic leveling to name a few)
With some suppliers ending production of but 2-way fridges they may be forced to change
Those counter tops are gorgeous, too bad they aren't the star of the show with the correct colors to make them pop. Glossy cream cabinets would be good too.
👍🏻
Thanks Amy ✌ GOD bless America 🇺🇲
Same to you!
Very impressive.
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank Heaven Josh you are honest enough to help debunk the whole R40 BS. In fact they have gone as far to remove the Asterisk behind R-40 on individual model specs. I was taught building trades by one of the best....my Dad. He was a Fulbright Scholar who taught building trades to returning WWII GI's and then teaching overseas. He would never of had drank from the R-40* purple kool-Aide cup.
You know “equivalent r value means?”
*Not actually that R Value.*
When I joined with Bish’s a lot of people questioned if I would start spouting the R 40 stuff. That is one of those hills I will die on.
@@JoshtheRVNerd Good man!!!
That raised bank of drawers is fine by me however that propane stove needs be closer to that sidewall back splash not right next to a set of wood or plywood drawers for fire safety 😊😊
Agree, and the soft ceiling is hard to keep up with. Lots of browns, same basic design, etc.
@@Herk988 I thought the decor was OK but probably not my favorite 😊 and Thank you 😊👍
@@MrNickb-s500 we’ve owned one since 2018. Design doesn’t seem to have changed much.
Love your vids and my 27-5L. You indicated in your vid that you didn't know what the "-5" was. I think you will find that in Northwoods case that it's always an indicator that it's an Arctic Fox Fifth wheel, at least that's the only times it is used. Fox Mountain seems to incorporate the "5" in the model without the -.
I think I was indicating more, but I don’t understand the need for the Dash five designator. That’s kind of a classic old school way of indicating fifth wheels.
I am definitely buying a north wood
Nice pick
It's obvious someone in the Northwoods design department cooks as they have a range backsplash on the sidewall too.
I'd like to see an option for a lighter interior. Not Farmhouse White but maybe a pickled finish or other light translucent stain that still shows the wood grain.
I am willing to live with the higher heat load of a black awning and toppers as they don't show the mildew and dirt. White awnings no matter how much you try will eventually show the dirt and mildew no matter how hard you clean them.
I think a slide awning would be good addition. This has a lot of seating space between the stairs and front of the unit but nothing for a covered buffet/cooking/grill station.
That basement storage looks like it is big enough to hold Josh on one of those nights when the wife decides he needs a reminder of who's really in charge. :)
It is a nice looking unit and while there are some options I would like to see none would be a deal breaker if we were in the market for a big 5th wheel.
I feel they could probably touchup and lightly freshen up the interior without totally getting their entire overall look and feel.
I would love the outside speakers down. Otherwise I love the trailer
👍🏻
More recliners!!!
👍🏻
Beautiful! Would a 1 ton pickup be suitable to tow this or would it be better to go with a chasis or semi?
I think a proper one time should do the job. You may want to look at dually. She has a hefty one.
Is the Arctic Fox warm in the winter? Or is it just a cool name?
Owners praise their cold camp capacity
@@JoshtheRVNerd Awesome, thanks for the quick reply!
Howdy from Texas Josh! How thick are the walls? Guestimate on amount of time from ordering to delivery?
2” I believe
I do not have a good estimation of leadtimes. You could get that information from our local stores, however
Needs a second awning. Very nice.
I agree!
Questionable decor?? We LOVE it....at least it's not all white. Wish it didn't have carpet but will definitely check out the brand when are looking for another 5th wheel.
Ty for sharing!!
Nice rig any time I feel good about myself all I have to do is use one of those magnifying mirrors makes my nose look like a really pale strawberry
Hahahhaha
Amy you are the Bomb
Shes super awesome
You know me Josh, I would change that shower!
👍🏻
Meh... Might be built amazing, and I really like the outside/storage, but it's has a 1985 decor. I think it just needs some doilies on the chair arms, and some rose tea figurines to make it grandma approved :)
Fresh. Water. Drinking. System
Lol I see a pattern 😊
Skylight in the kitchen has a sliding cover… how do you close that?
With a stepstool
I didn’t see a washer dryer space? That is a must have for us. But other than that this is really nice. Would a 3/4 ton truck handle this?
Front closet
I think most 3/4's would struggle with this one but it may depend on the truck in question. I cannot offer a general "3/4 will" or "wont work here"
There were hookups for a stackable w/d on the right side of the front wardrobe closet.
I love interior, but I wish it had a hide-a-bed like the Cedar Creek do. The flashing light on the solar is because there are no batteries. The Arctic Fox is well built, but which is better built the Arctic Fox or Cedar Creek? And I hope you had a good vacation.
I think you’re comparing two of the best built Arby’s out there in terms of structure and how long they hold up. I don’t know that I can really give the nod to one or the other.
@@JoshtheRVNerd Thanks. I've been thinking about trading mine in and getting a new one. I've been looking at both brands and don't know for sure what way to go. My Wife loves are Ceader Creek and I like the looks of the Arctic Fox. If I was smart, I'd let her decide. Thanks for the help.
Why is carpet necessary?
"That's a lot of carpet"
"That's what He said"
luv everything about articfox except that corner shower
I don't care for the wooden front on the refrigerator. It screams cheap to me. At first I thought that the shower was very small kid sized. Thank you for showing the inside and dispelling that idea. The carpet is a turn off for me and I dislike floor vents for heating.
Thanks for sharing
@@JoshtheRVNerd You're welcome Josh.
Amy did a great job. Been lucky enough to be inside an outdoors rv travel trailer. The quality no doubt is top notch. When I'm ready to upgrade they will definitely be on the short list.
Totally agree!
Bedroom tv could be good if they didn't box it in with a cabinet. I cant see those little ones. Bigger tv!!
That would be cool!
She's a little thicc. She's got some hips! Lol. Great video Josh! I love your commentary! 👍🫡
She thicc
The "R-value" scam in RV construction bothers me. For instance, if you take a reflective material and hold it above your head to block the sun it performs very well. It has a very good R-value blocking radiant heat. If you sandwich it inside a floor, ceiling, or wall its insulating properties are diminished to almost nothing. It has very weak conductive insulating properties. Yet manufacturers will take the full radiant r-value and just add it to whatever conductive value (heat transfer between materials) is in the wall or ceiling. It doesn't work that way. The thing is, a thin foil radiant barrier is inexpensive to throw in the ceiling to falsely inflate the r-value for marketing purposes. True insulating value in an RV is the first thing I look for when researching products. As with anything, some companies are better than others, and some will inflate the true r-value.
You’re exactly right. The real key is there needs to be an air gap to allow it to function properly.
11:06 charge controller is blinking because it’s angry that it can’t see the sun!
👍🏻
Tell them black cabinets with gold hardware and the gold furniture and counters would look very formal and sexy. The brown just doesn't bring out the gold. 😟👎
I like that it has a skylight. Like the separate chairs rather than conjoined theatseat. However, that sofa is ratbone ugly, and the justified off center bugs my OCD. Like the stairs on the driver’s side.
Ratbone ugly lololol
This looks more like a home and less as a camper than 95% of most.
Facts
Lord I wish the US RV industry would get out of the 70's.
Oh wow! Watching the slides going out was kinda sexy!😯😯🤣🤣
Well, all right then
Arctic Fox was on our short list but I’m not fond of the dark, almost dated decor.
“Almost” dated is being very generous I think lol
Hey Josh, any way you could get someone from your Coldwater branch to answer phones or return voicemails? Bought an RV there in October, been trying to get in touch with someone there for months, called multiple times, left voicemails, sent texts, and can't get anyone to return calls or give any information. Great service until you sign the paperwork, and then nothing. Disappointed doesn't begin to describe my experience.
I think I would feel the same. I am traveling the next few days which leaves me sadly out of position to be able to help oversee anything
I will try to watch my comments here but again will be out of position for a bit - may I ask who your salesperson was and what your needs may be? It may help me assist you
@@JoshtheRVNerd I got a call back yesterday with the contact information I needed for the registration service. Bought that Ember 191 MSL from the Coldwater location back in October and the slide has been non-functional since I took delivery in November. Still haven't received the title, registration, and plates, but talked to them yesterday and they said it would be here by the end of the month. Living full-time in this thing without a functioning slide hasn't been pleasant. Ember is supposed to pick it up to fix it at some point, but I'm highly disappointed with the entire experience.
@@BenjaminAllen-ml6ot Silly as it sounds my role here doesn't allow me access to customer file information but I am getting this screenshotted, printed, and into the hands of the local manager
For your customers that have a lot of baggage….😮
Haha
Just like the new cars and trucks people can't afford it.
Good construction but still the colours of the 60’s and carpet in the slide……
I just don't understand why everything HAS to be brown on top of brown, wrapped in brown, then accented by brown. Camping is FUN...how about a manufacturer making at LEAST THE option to CHOOSE more than one color combination. Everything is so brown...pretty sure a bear could hide in that living room area. It reminds me of the military.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Not that fond of the decor, but otherwise it's awesome.
👍🏻
Z=-2/5 Only the Nerd Herd will understand.
Wow..
Beefy:👍
HOA approved: 🤢🤮
😂
IMHO those colors of wood and countertops are horrible lol. It’s the colors we have now that we are hoping to get away from! If you like these finishes it’s probably a great fifth wheel but for me it’s a pass lol. Also hurry up with that online store I’ll rock an rv nerd hat!!! 😂😂🤪
I’m completely baffled as to why there’s never any household outlets on the kitchen counters. Where do you plug in your appliances? This RV is basically a house, and still no outlets. Is there a specific reason for this? BTW, love your videos Josh.
I thought I pointed a few kitchen outlets out in this one… hmm…
Do NOT like the carpet at all. The mustard color of the counter tops and dining chairs is quite unattractive. The rv cabnetry itself is very nice. Good floorplan.
Dates look for sure. Still solidly built like you mentioned
Eeewww! Carpet! They ruined it!😢😢😢
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I kind of wish they (the industry) would stop making them like they used to - as far as decor goes. Nothing against AF, I trust you that the build quality is great, but these interiors are so depressing. So many browns, none of which are appealing (to me). Some people love these decors, so I get why they make them, but I wish they had options for more modern interiors. And the huge windows are great - but only 10% of the big window opens. Euro-style awning windows with inset screen/blackout are better looking and give better airflow. I wish they were at least an option :(
I get it!
it's not the decor, it is the build. Three years full time and no problems with our AF. I do agree they should change the decore but the build is great.
I saw an arctic fox travel trailer in salvage yard in Missouri back in the late 90s it had been laid on its side and flipped back up by a wrecker they said insurance totaled it but it didn't look to bad to me
A lot of times if that happens, an insurance company will total it just in case there’s some sort of hidden structural damage. I found they often won’t even have the thing inspected. It’s presume something that catastrophic would normally ruin an RV.
