- I am so excited to share this video.
I always wanted to train my monstera deliciosa up the wall but cause no damage to wall.
Monstera can reward you with huge leaves if provided bright light and nurtured with feed and watering. Before we get there we need to give it support and I have used this method to get fenestration on leaves and make it look like jungle.
This video is to share tips on how to get huge fenestraions, huge leaves. I am not sure about large form monstera deliciosa. I thought there was only one form:)

thank you for watching, please share your comments.
My friend had a monstera like yours and when it reached the ceiling she got it to grow across the top of the window and along the next wall of her living room...it looks absolutely Fabulous! Yours is wonderful and thank you for the information.
Hi Melen Lewis, thank you!
I am planning to do something similar but currently fighting thrips😭
Oh no 😭
@@eclectic_housewife I know, I have hope that I can get through this 🤞
Plants also take infra-red lights. These lights can penetrate layers of leaves and got on your plant, if you put the plant outdoor under other trees. Also opposite as what people used to believe, plants also absorb a lot of green light. So the green light bounce around between leaves since leaves are green too, so the lower plant also absorbs that. However, if you put the plant indoor, all the lights are blocked by thick walls that any lights won’t be able to penetrate. So they actually received far less lights indoor even though your eyes can’t distinguish the difference (actually most of time our eyes also can distinguish the difference. Indoor environment is much darker than outdoor shaded area).
Very clever idea. Thank you for sharing! Your Monstera is just beautiful!
Yes, yours is a large form monstera because as the leaf meets the stem it has those ripples on the top of the stem at leaf points.
This is an awesome idea! I definitely want to do this! How would one go about repotting when it's attached to the board?
That is the trickiest bit, mine was large and I gave it 30 litre pot and put it on top of table. If I have to change the giant pot, I will need another person with me to remove the table so that I can shake off the pot (hard work) and slide it bigger pot, all in one if you have small pot easier to do but giant one like mine, it will a challenge but I am not planning to pot it up for this year or next atleast😊
I would love to purchase a start. Do you happen to know the exact plant name so i can start looking
Hi
Its monstera deliciosa. Very common plant to buy so easily available.
can these aerial roots go directly onto a wall without the wood board? thanks
Yes for the new growth if it is right next to wall. After 2 or 3 new leaf growth, it should be completely stuck to the wall from the new growth point. Old growth will not attach to the wall but top support should keep the plant in place with new Ariel roots gripping onto the wall. I used the board so that it doesn't stuck to the wall.
What a creative idea! I'm trying to come up with ideas to train my monstera to grow up now that we're in the growing season. I just gained some inspiration. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, it is nice to hear if it can help someone with ideas! Let me know how it goes. Eventually it will start to get a grip (new Ariel roots only) and won't need support.
This is such a good idea!
Thank you. That was super helpful
I killed my first by overwatering (no drainage holes in the pot)
Don't feel bad, we have all done fair share of over watering 😀
There is no big and small you are correct , the older they are and best growing conditions is what makes them become monsters lll
Thank you, that's what I thought!
Please help me understand. Is this a sort of large piece of thin wood attached to wall with command strips? Was it painted to match wall color? Or is it one “pole” again, painted wall color? When you refer to texture, and then mentioned wall paper? I love it but need to understand. Thank you!
Hi Carol, it's one thing piece of wood around 4mm. I bought textured wallpaper and stick it to the piece of wood. Then use command to attach it to the wall. Then start to hang the plant around it with plant ties and staple gun:)
@@urbantropicaluk Thank you so much!
Very good explanation
Thank you:)
@@urbantropicaluk your plants are very well looked after. Do you sell any plants?
@@smdasd5277 I used to sell last year. Now I only sell what I propagate. I will be Propagating this one soon as getting too big😊
@@urbantropicaluk where do you usually sell your plants?
asd Ebay usually
can you use Styrofoam board instead, and attach it with the same strong command double sided tape?
In my opinion that will work if your monstera is young but if its huge stemmed then it might not work and might pull the Styrofoam down
@@urbantropicaluk Thanks! I think i'll follow your advice and get a piece of thin plywood. I have an outdoor location for monstera but not sure about where to put it, can I send you a photo somewhere? You can reach me by email
@@urbantropicaluk Also would it be possible to buy 2 monstera plants and combine them in a bigger pot?
@@t-ime yes of course. But just to let you know that these are giant plants and will go very bushy unless you put them in low light. It is absolutely a monster given the correct conditions so only do two plants if that is your preference
Hi
Sorry I don't think that there is a way for photo. If you are planting outside (I presume you are not UK), it will do fine away from peak sun. My sister in law has it outdoor and it is doing so well. She has it in partial shade (mostly shade). It did survive very well in winter as well (minimum temperature was 4 degree celcius so not an issue
This looks so good!
Thank you, currently it's about to touch my ceiling 😂
@@urbantropicaluk wow. You should do updates as it grows
