I have imagined a lot of faces to personify your voice. But I would have NEVER guessed that you look like Benjamin Franklin. I don't know what to do with this information...
When I read the title for this video I was shocked at the thought of there being _44_ Scooby-Doo movies, but as I watched I became shocked by the fact that _I've already seen almost all of these_
This video was like a friend coming over to my house unannounced but nonetheless always welcomed. Talking to me hours on end about what ever because they know it’s been a rough time and just letting me take my mind off things. remembering joys of our childhood. Thank you so much, I hope you enjoyed your candy and energy drinks! Happy Halloween!
This is the exact vibes I get off this video put perfectly into words, and also why this has become one of my favorite comfort videos for when I'm having a bad day
One of my favourite things about Scooby Doo and it’s many iterations is Daphne. Like she has changed and evolved more than any other character- Shaggy and Scooby basically stay as lovable clowns who accidentally fix things, Freddie always tries to hatch plans and lead and Velma is the brains. But Daphne got to go from being a beautiful wealthy damsel in distress who always fell into traps for decades until people said no and now she’s probably the most competent member of the gang. She’s usually the most direct, the bravest, shown skill in combat in several versions and often just as smart as Velma, just as decisive as Fred and the only thing she doesn’t do better is the clownery and consumption of Shaggy and Scooby. Anyway we stan
I love moments throughout the franchise when Daphne is by herself and she’s not a damsel, instead she finds her way out of the situation and uncovers vital clues along the way.
@@BREADSWORD 11:55: Well, to be fair, Scrappy did this on himself for trying to get Fred arrested in a reunion episode of all things: ua-cam.com/video/BI-nuUK1aKg/v-deo.html For more details on why his presence downplayed Fred, Daphne and Velma, here's this: ua-cam.com/video/6fdQS-rjsnk/v-deo.html
@@eko000 Thank you! It makes me happy to see a comment saying that despite how late I put the timestamps on this video. I kind of just did it for myself to be honest, but I’m really glad that you and others derived a lot from it.
@@BREADSWORD If your interested, I actually came up with an idea for a CGI animated "Scrappy Doo" movie that addresses the criticisms people had with him, but not in a malicious way. Rather its about how his whole puppy power persona is a cover up to hide the fact that he's under the impression that if Scooby sees that he's just as vulnerable as Scooby himself, his Uncle Scooby will think less of him, and the thought of letting his uncle Scooby down is one he refuses to let become a reality at all costs. Basically Scrappy learning that being fearless doesn't mean blindly diving into a possibly deadly situation, but rather its pursuing through a dangerous situation despite being scared on the inside.
At first I thought I'd prefer the classic incredibly well-thought out clip edits with a voiceover format, but the more I watch the more I realise this format is great in its own right. The mix of earnest review and more humorous interjections, the different postures, position and direction within the frame, not to mention the incredibly fitting location and costuming. Breadsword, you never cease to amaze.
What a wholesome and super sweet ending I just watched. I'm infinitely grateful to you, and myself, for watching this video instead of going to sleep a bit earlier tonight. Things WILL get better. But in the meantime, we can all connect over our childhoods in this video, with a wonderful person behind the name BREADSWORD. Hope you had a happy Halloween, buddy. Much, much love.
*You during this marathon:* “And I would’ve gotten away with not watching these movies if weren’t for my meddling mindless thoughts which tricked me to watch all of them.”
The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo was actually a full series but never got an ending. It starred Shaggy and Scooby but joined by Scrappy and a series-only character named Flim Flam. He was a smart-witted street kid who performed hoaxes before joining up with the trio. Vincent Price was more of an opening cameo/quest giver type character but still fun. This is also why there's a statue of Flim Flam's original design in a museum to Price in one of the later series. Highly unknown series for the group since it excludes Fred and the girls and most things without the full gang made serially are passed over, but it's good fun most of the time.
Tried to rewatch 13 Ghosts this Halloween and it was ... okay. The first couple episodes were hilarious, Vincent Van Ghoul and Flim Flam are great, it's also just INSANE. But it quickly wore out its welcome and become boring and unfunny so I can see why it was cancelled before the finale.
I liked the cyberspace movie. Them having to go against a handful of the OG monsters was a great callback. It's cool when they meet their digital counterparts.
the sudden face reveal, the content, the outro about spending halloween alone... thank you. i needed this so bad. your videos always feel like a homie venting to you in the most comforting way but this was vid even more so. this halloween was detrimentally rough for me, and this helped.
I am offended that the Kiss movie ranked so low amongst the crossover films. It had such great visuals! And they made Kiss do literal Sailor Moon transformations! Shit was wild.
I’ve been binging breadsword’s videos while doing some art and they’re all just so... comfy. The content, the voice, the “playing from another room” type background music. It feels like I’m just chilling with a friend.
Something your comment made me realise is that while the "blurriness" of the background music serves the "comfy" aesthetic, it's also a great way to avoid getting demonetised because of it. Eliminating an issue while also amplifying the quality. Legendary.
The end of this video shows what is the tying tread throughout your entire channel. To keep people company in times when they may not have anywhere else to turn. From Gurren Lagan to Dr. Strangelove, your inspired ability to connect with others over our emotional responses to these pieces of art is absolutely stunning and I know myself, among others, appreciate it more than you may ever understand. Incredibly well made as always Breadsword. Happy Halloween
Wait, is Arabian Nights the one with Yogi Bear as the Genie and a female Aladdin? Oh God, that wasn't a weird fever dream? Also, I have a HUGE affection for Ghoul School.
@@BREADSWORD For some reason, Yogi Bear's deadpan, "Another power-hungry evil guy bent on world domination," is in my head now - not that I can be sure that's actually a thing he says, but I don't know where else I would remember Yogi Bear saying... something like that.
I was looking for a comment about the AN movie, because for some reason I: a) had a vhs copy of it, b) watched it A LOT, and c) got amnesia immediately after, bc whenever I started watching it I forgot that scoob and shag are in it for 2min and would be very confused Also, Ghoul School is my favorite scoob film from the 80s, it's just a genuinely kindhearted movie with a spooky vibe, I Stan a feminist kids movie
This feels like we were at a halloween party and both of us decided to go into another room so you could talk about your favorite Scooby Doo movies with the music from downstairs blaring, and I love it. Like you said, it feels good to have someone to hang out with and forget about reality with for a while. I really needed this, so thank you, and I hope you're doing alright man
You know why most people hate Scrappy Doo right? He essentially was the "new" character that was forced into a well established canon in order to desperately revive a tired series. Then to add insult to injury he was assigned all the leading character's best traits effectively sidelining them for the remainder of the series, even writing them out completely in some cases. The situation with Scrappy Doo was literally the Poochie episode of The Simpsons done in earnest.
The best way to describe the audience perception of Scrappy-Doo is his introduction in the 2002 live action Scooby-Doo movie. He appears, pisses all over Daphne while shouting "PUPPY POWER," and the gets kicked out of the gang.
A similar thing happened with The Fairly OddParents when they introduced Baby Poof. But he wasn't even all that bad compared to what came after him. Then they introduced Sparky, an annoying talking fairy dog. Sparky was literally the Poochie episode done in earnest. And then after that, they introduced Chloe, an annoying girl that Timmy has to share his fairies with. Needless to say, this was the show standing on its last legs and was finally cancelled after its 10th season.
Oddly enough, it worked. Scrappy did bring back the audience at a time when Scooby-Doo was on the brink of cancellation. Without Scrappy, we might not have had all the Scooby-Doo that came after.
@@RyanStorey1231 Scrappy is nowhere near as bad as the FOP life preservers. He had his own unique personality and contributions, and I think the fact that he was in stories where Scoob and Shaggy were independent from the main gang, rather than tacked onto them as a 6th wheel, made him far more bearable as a character.
@@angeliparraguirre7329 As long as we aren't celebrating a lie, I'm down. Raising more awareness of MMIW and the Buffalo Project would certainly be a good start for November.
Every year around October or Halloween I come back to your video, something about the vibes, your voice the background music, the editing, your jokes, it all just feels like a safe warm space I can come back to, hope you’re doing well and wish you the best!!!
I was hurt to see that cyber chase wasn’t higher, it’s probably my most watched Scooby-Doo piece of media as well. I was happy to see Witch’s Ghost where it placed. That being said I’ve got a lot of cool movies to watch now after this! That Pup Named Scooby-Doo puppet movie looks interesting. Great video :)
Finally someone who appreciates Scooby-Doo and the Goblin King! I was waiting the entire video to see what you would rank it, and I was sure you'd forgotten it when you pulled it out as number one. I love Jack more than I can describe.
The best way to start a Hanna-Barbera cinematic universe is to have the Scooby Gang win a free vacation (of course) to Jellystone Park, and then end up having to solve the mystery of "who's stealing all the picnic baskets?" Also, I want someone to make a brand new Scooby film that's a period piece set in the sixties. The comedic potential is staggering. Thanks for this fun distraction during the most tense time I've experienced in 4 years :)
@@BREADSWORD I’ve been on a heavy WoW thing for the past couple weeks after years of being unable to come back. It’s been a wonderful escape from things and I’ve missed it so much. If you don’t mind answering, what server are you on? It’d be badass to come across the off chance to stumble upon one of my favorite youtubers and not even know it.
Some of my favorite Scooby Doo movies were the ones that were more "realistic" or more grounded in realism. "Zombie Island" and "Witch's Ghost" were my favorites as a kid, and even more so now as a young adult.
His problem was that he was filling the role of three characters. He had Daphne’s confidence, Velma’s logic, and Fred’s strategy. Overall, he felt a little much.
@@BREADSWORD And I just wanna say that the video you made about Gurren Lagann and getting it DESTROYED me. I was sniffling for an whole hour later, it hit me so hard and I had nowhere to turn than to just watch it again. And again. Thank you so much for sharing a piece of you each time, it's breathtaking and inspiring to see and hear each time. + The Treasure Planet vid is well watched, every time I wanna watch it I watch your video instead, makes it so much better~
This was such a comfy watch! Scooby Doo is a big part of my childhood, still have all the old movies on VHS just kinda vibin in the back of my closet so every time you mentioned the name of another film the nostalgia feels hit in the best way possible. Just because this kind of format has less "polish" than your traditional content doesn't take away anything from the entertainment value; I was still engaged the entire time and felt like I was having a late night conversation with a friend gushing about their fav scooby movies. Could tell that they meant a lot to you and at the end of the day making content about things that are meaningful to us is the best kind, regardless of the level of script editing that goes into them the passion will always shine through. Also the way you rep scrappy doo so hard is the Exact kind of energy he needs after years of being dunked on in every conversation I've heard him mentioned in.
In my opinion you are one of the most creative and amazing channels on youtube. I've not found another channel that conveys everything your videos do. The way your videos feel and flow are literally unrepeatable. All your videos just scream this melancholisch but also extremely cozy feel. They're like sitting around a warm fire with a good book but knowing there is snow storm outside but just not caring about it. Best of luck man I hope things go good for you.
Fandoms when they see a voiceover youtuber for the first time : **CONFUSED SCREAMING** For real, I'm going to have to go back and rewatch all of your videos with the correct face association. oh nooooo.... how did all this popcorn get here...
Top 8 for me: 1 cyberchase 2 witches ghost 3 loch ness 4 alien invaders 5 mask of the blue falcon 6 abominable snowman 7 phantosaur 8 brave and the bold. It used to be witches ghost at one, but realizing the virus is y2k it has a whole extra level and I lover it even more.
IIRC, the canon of where Velma and Fred were during the trio movies & 13 Ghosts was that Fred was off sulking because Daphne left him for her TV show, and Velma had to go because NASA needed her specifically.
Man... You are my favorite creator. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Your videos give me so much peace and joy and legitimately make me bellow-laugh. I wasn't sure how this "Fuck it, we'll do it live" vibe would work out compared to the tightly weaved mithril chain of silver-tonged rhetoric and masterful edits your other videos present with but I really liked it. Thank you and thank you again.
scooby doo is still one of my favorite franchises to date. also you are the only person who can put out a video at midnight thats an hour and a half long and ill still watch it. your talent, and more importantly your hard work shows and shines through. whenever you make a video, and i didn't expect it, it is the best surprise i could have. keep it up. ♥️♥️♥️
So... I was going to watch this because Scooby-Doo was my childhood, but between you giving me a list of movies I've never heard of that I definitely need to watch and your overall realness, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Excellently done and thank you. I needed that more than I realized.
Was gonna say something about how you found the time to do this, then remembered what has been happening for the past eight months and wondered how I hadn't.
Seeing Lupin the Third content on here from Howl's Moving Castle video gave me a lot of joy. Seeing Lupin the Third Part 2 brought up in this video made my *entire day.* But more than that, the way you talk about media is so inspiring. You aren't afraid to emotionally connect with it, and impart that to us, and it's so refreshing. And more than that, you look at their creation as a story in unto itself. Your observations on the things you watch are hard to tear away from because they're hypnotically earnest and it does reach. You and Lady Knight the Brave are the only 2 youtubers to make me cry while reviewing a work I haven't even *seen*. I don't leave many comments, but thank you for what you do here. Happy belated Halloween to you, too. If you'll excuse me, I have to watch some Scooby-Doo now.
46:09 - “Chernabog from Disney’s Anastasia” - that got me so confused because I was wondering when Chernabog popped up in Anastasia and it took me a bit to realize he meant Fantasia. Glad to Witch’s ghost so high up. It was my favorite one as a kid. I haven’t seen it in a really long time and I wondered if maybe I was remembering it being good because of nostalgia.
I found this channel through the Gurren Lagann video, but boy did I ever get hooked on just listening to you ramble about anything at all, so when I saw this video, I was shocked that I was so early, it said it only had 1 view. Love the content, keep it up! Much love!
Okay but I do have to say that Big Top Scooby Doo does contain a sub plot where Fred admits to having maimed hundreds of people in a trapeze accident (I have also watched every Scooby Doo movie and uhhhh it’s a lot)
idk how easily u see new comments on old videos, but i wanted to let u know that this is one of my favorite videos on youtube and its incredibly fucking special to me. obviously everyone was in a weird place two years ago, but it was my freshman year of college. my senior year of hs was cut short, i had just recently abandoned a goal that had been my life for five years, i didnt know if i would ever have a normal college experience, and i was absolutely floundering. just terribly depressed. but for 95 minutes, u made my life a little better. u made me feel a little less alone. i think thats the most important thing in the world. thank u for all that u do
I love listening to you when you get really passionate about something, you describing your favorite Scooby doo movie was SO great to see. Also you are a stand up human being for having your reason for being on camera be that you want to keep people company
With the Scrappy thing, I honestly feel like it's a little more nuanced than that. I'm not done with the video, I stopped to comment when you mentioned his villain role in 2002 live-action, but... honestly, I feel like the thing to keep in mind with Scrappy is that he sort of inherently screws up the formula by being a character who runs headlong into danger instead of away from it. As a result of this, they pretty much have to make him incompetent and hateable to keep the stories working properly without *massively* retooling the formula, and it's not really surprising that everyone wished he would go away after that. Like, he's not a bad character in and of himself, and the movies did eventually find a groove with him, as you noted. But he just doesn't fit in Scooby-Doo, and he *glaringly* doesn't fit, to the extent that they have to kneecap his character to make stories work, and if you have to do that then it feels sort of senseless to have the character at all.
50:34 'Lake Loch Ness'- 'Loch' is the Scots word for 'lake', so 'Lake Loch Ness' is like saying 'chai tea'. Really love the video, just wanted to point this out.
I knew how many Scooby Doo movies there were but I never realised how many of them I've watched. I wasn't keeping track of the exact number but I'd say I've watched at least half of this list.
Okay after making it to the end I can remember at least 80% of these movies. I really want to do a Scooby Doo marathon myself now! I miss watching these movies.
This was the first video of yours I had ever seen, I clicked because scooby doo is some of my earliest fond memories of animation. Ive only seen a few of these and hardly remember, but still loved your analysis. I had noticed the camera style too and how personal it felt... and only at the end did I realize why it was comforting. TY great video :)
This is the first vid I’ve watched of yours but I’m immediately a fan dude. Really wonderful to see someone pour all of themselves in to something and engage with such a large swath of work. It’s something I do myself and it’s always endearing to see other people who do it. Can’t wait to see more of your stuff!
Billiam put it best. People hate scrappy because of his parenting. (Scooby and shaggy are not the best duo for raising an impressionable scrappy). By the way can we all agree that uncle gaggy needs to be shown again.
Thank you for reminding me of all the years that I have spent on enjoying a dog and his peeps be the most entertaining bunch of mystery loving misfits to grace my be-kind-rewind blockbuster filled childhood. Loved the format. It's exactly what I needed today.
WOW *takes deep breath* that was amazing! I have so many memories sitting on the old carpet in my living room and looking up at the TV watching Scooby and the gang while my mom made Craft Mac n Cheese for me. Your videos always give me that warm friendly feeling inside which puts a smile on my face. Thank you for keeping everyone company during this mess :)
I love all your videos, but for some reason this is one of my favorites even though there aren't many visuals and it's a lot more freeform and less densely analytical. It's just comforting to hear you talk about something you like, especially as you get more passionate toward the end.
-watches 44 movies and makes a 90+ minute video about Scooby Doo’s history and all its movies -doesn’t know it’s pronounced barBEARa JK, this whole thing is beautiful and that’s such a nitpick from right at the beginning few minutes. We stan the dedication
"Almost like a Scooby Doo take on Chernabog from Disney's Anastasia." ... I had to listen to that a couple times before I realized you probably meant "Fantasia". Anastasia is definitely not a Disney movie, and probably doesn't have Chernabog in it. It might, I don't know, it's been a while.
I know this is late but I've seen this video so many times. I genuinely come back to it whenever I just want to feel comfy when I'm writing, drawing or gaming. It really does feel like letting a friend just ramble about their favorite movies for an hour and a half. Honestly, all of your videos do that for me, and that's why you've been one of my favorite youtube channels for years. Thanks for the company and introspection, it's sorely appreciated.
Do you know a good premise for a Scooby Doo movie would be that the gangs so used to the monster formula at this point that they’re just unimpressed with every thing that the monster does but it turns out that everything is real and the stakes are super high
Damn I was not expecting this -- you're spoiling us! Loved watching this and I don't at all mind the change in format. You still got that good good closing music break that the people need! And thank sweet buttery baby jesus you put Witch's Ghoat where it belongs. I'll have to check out the Halloween movie you put in #1!
That’s a fair thought I was just amused that we are wrapping so far around on dislike that scrappy doo is now being defended however I feel he can be used and deserves a reboot of his own.
I know I'm like over a year late to this, but in my defense I just started watching your incredible videos. This is one of those videos of movies that you never realize you needed to watch until you watch it. I've always loved Scooby-Doo, especially after I saw Zombie Island for the first time when I was like 7. And your ending felt like a big hug after a nice time hanging out with a good friend. Thank you for being entertaining, wholesome, funny, heartfelt, smart, and for making videos I would recommend to anyone on any day. Can't wait for the next one 💜

Excluded the girls? Daphne was in it too. It's why she got a bigger role in the movie.
Tried to rewatch 13 Ghosts this Halloween and it was ... okay. The first couple episodes were hilarious, Vincent Van Ghoul and Flim Flam are great, it's also just INSANE. But it quickly wore out its welcome and become boring and unfunny so I can see why it was cancelled before the finale.
this series is my first cultural imprint for Vincent Price
I liked the cyberspace movie. Them having to go against a handful of the OG monsters was a great callback. It's cool when they meet their digital counterparts.

Legendary.
And the visuals are usually kind of blurry and soft as well, so cosy 😊

You know why most people hate Scrappy Doo right? He essentially was the "new" character that was forced into a well established canon in order to desperately revive a tired series. Then to add insult to injury he was assigned all the leading character's best traits effectively sidelining them for the remainder of the series, even writing them out completely in some cases. The situation with Scrappy Doo was literally the Poochie episode of The Simpsons done in earnest.
I know! I feel for this guy and his opinion, but I've never felt so loving while going "oh honey. Your opinion is WRONG"
This is a very welcome suprise for all the stress I feel bc of the world rn

BREADSWORD WITH AN ABSOLUTE BAGUETTE OF A VIDEO
U KNOW HOW IT IS BABYYYY

Thank you for reminding me of all the years that I have spent on enjoying a dog and his peeps be the most entertaining bunch of mystery loving misfits to grace my be-kind-rewind blockbuster filled childhood. Loved the format. It's exactly what I needed today.
How are all of your videos perfect, I just started watching and I already know it’s gonna be a banger! Much love brother
AYYY BLESS YOU THANK YOU BRO
WOW *takes deep breath* that was amazing! I have so many memories sitting on the old carpet in my living room and looking up at the TV watching Scooby and the gang while my mom made Craft Mac n Cheese for me. Your videos always give me that warm friendly feeling inside which puts a smile on my face. Thank you for keeping everyone company during this mess :)
My vote:
Best *movie,* Scooby Doo on Zombie Island (the original)
Best tv show: Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated
KING TASTES
@@BREADSWORD *gasps,* senpai noticed me! 😱❤
Seconded
Scooby doo where are you can't be touched.
"I watched 44 Scooby Doo movies"
Me: I envy the dead for they don't know your suffering
I love all your videos, but for some reason this is one of my favorites even though there aren't many visuals and it's a lot more freeform and less densely analytical. It's just comforting to hear you talk about something you like, especially as you get more passionate toward the end.
-watches 44 movies and makes a 90+ minute video about Scooby Doo’s history and all its movies
-doesn’t know it’s pronounced barBEARa
JK, this whole thing is beautiful and that’s such a nitpick from right at the beginning few minutes. We stan the dedication
Still drove me nuts though lol
Bruh, your positivity literally makes me misty eyed sometimes.
"Almost like a Scooby Doo take on Chernabog from Disney's Anastasia."
... I had to listen to that a couple times before I realized you probably meant "Fantasia". Anastasia is definitely not a Disney movie, and probably doesn't have Chernabog in it. It might, I don't know, it's been a while.
Unfortunately it technically now is. Disney bought Fox so Anastasia is a Disney movie. Which is annoyingly funny in a way.
@@F1n3-4rt Oh you're right, I forgot that was during Bluth's time with Fox Animation. That is pretty funny.
It’s basically a Disney movie, come on.
Breadsword bringing Christmas early to November... yes sirrrr
Witch's Ghost is goated!!!!!! so so so so good! also thank you so much!!!
I think you unintentionally argued Scrappy is a Mary Sue.
That’s a fair thought I was just amused that we are wrapping so far around on dislike that scrappy doo is now being defended however I feel he can be used and deserves a reboot of his own.
@BabbyThor Why not both?
Gotta say I'm lovin this fast and loose and hilarious version of breadsword. The collar? It pops. The jokes? They slap. The film analysis? It's deep.
