    I just wanted to thank you for making this clip. I just found out the I have RP. This is proving to be a great resource to show people when they ask "How do you see?" So thanks yours has been the only attempt that really conveys the way I see.

    I suffer with RP too but please be aware that EVERY case of RP is different.
    This video is close to what my eyes are like, however it may not be the same for others.
    Also with the lack of vision, disorientation happens VERY easily and depth pf feild is none existant. :)

    I am aware that it is not the best quality of either filming or clip, and I want to eventually make better-made clip. This was only a first desperate test to share with you how I feel about my RP. My video skills are scarce and I have not much time, so I'll try to figure out how I can eventually make the most efficient way so I can provide additional perspective on Retinitis Pigmentosa. However, there are many much better videos here on UA-cam on this subject. :)

      This is quite good Rikard, thank you, considering though that none of us see very much the same; a video for daytime rp vision would be also appreciated, presented like this, with simultaneous normal and rp vision. ;-)

    As a person with RP: if u wanna imagine what its like, its similar to turning down the brightness and dimming the screen, its just that I see darker than other people and i have sensitivity to light

    Hello, I was diagnosed RP in 1989 at the age of 12. Things have gone slowly getting worst year by year. Yes, this video shows it quite good, but, in my case, I'm 40 atm, and I had both eyes operated for cataract, my night vision is even worst. I get flashed by lights, for example, the cross roads with the Street light that it's shown here, it's not what I really see, the red light flashes me and even light in the water on the Street are annoying my vuision. But this is something that affects in different ways, case by case. Good job. I apprecciated your video.

    • @masstheric
      @masstheric 7 років тому +2

      I'm also 40 and learned about my RP in 89. I got cataract surgery a couple years ago and now I can read a reversed color computer screen with glasses.
      But the night vision suuuuucks. (for all of us I guess)
      I also think the video is close but then again, I'm looking at the "Normal Vision" through RP eyes.

    • @ZikoSeyfi
      @ZikoSeyfi 2 роки тому +1

      Hi, I am also with RP and not only my night vision but the day vision gets worse, the sun is making me pretty much blind and any kind of light source basically. I wanted to ask you, did anything improved after the cataract surgery especially during the daylight?

    • @elcamarino2333
      @elcamarino2333 2 роки тому

      @@ZikoSeyfi it did improve for the first 4, 5 years, then I had one eye getting worse. ATM in sunlight I see like a low resolution picture unless I wear RP glasses

    My experience isnt as dark in the lit areas but the other areas are spot on. Plus my cataracts and the fact I’m super light sensitive- what a combination.

      Could you tell me what were your first symptoms? I mean what age you started having symtopms? What were those symptoms? I don't have any blurs nor lunette vision, but when I turn off lights in my room and I want to go to sleep I have problem with seeing. Always thought it just might be normal as eyes need time to adjust to a place without light after spending several hours in a place with light, but still..

    So if I'm understanding correctly, people with RP can see a little bit, through that one little dot in the middle and then the edges surrounding that hole are extremely blurry and distorted? I've also heard that sometimes the edges are black. Is that true?

  • @NikoBell12

    I fear I am developing RP but this I definitely do not have. I can see very well at night. Now hopefully that doesn't change then I probably don't have it and am just being a hypochondriac.

    • @lustrious4201
      @lustrious4201 10 років тому +12

      i am a young adult with severe RP I am only 22 and all i can say is it is hard. The hardest part is as soon as you get used to the field decrease it gets worse again and when it comes to going out you find you get a little anxious especially in crowds but i had a licence (in australia) up until my vision become to severe to drive. I can still work (but my fiance and i have chosen for me to stop) its more that people don't like hiring people with vision problems (well that is what i experienced when i was looking for work.) the positive thing is that if you get a job there is plenty of equipment that can assist you in everyday life. Its just a shame that not so many actually know this disease is out there. Everyone i met I have to explain my disease as a lot of people think that you just wake up blind one day and not lose it slowly.
