It's part of the internet of things. It's so that you can set it all up before you go to bed, and then when your alarm goes off, you can pick up your phone, and get your tea ready before you get up.
Sameer Khanna If you have $1500 to blow on a tea maker, you should also have enough money to pay for a smartphone to work as a portable display. However, it is pretty stupid that it doesn't have a screen anywhere. I guess they were going for an extreme minimalist design.
Even a blind taste test wouldnt help when comparing cheap bagged green tea with a Genmaicha. That tea is a specialty and has roasted rice and tea stems in it, so it pretty much tastes like no other tea. I can understand wanting a machine that picks the right ammount of water, the right temperature and the right timing for each infusion (high quality green teas can be infused up to 5 times), but then dumping each of those (they taste different with each subsequent infusion) in the same bottle ... that does not make sense. In my family we drink a lot of tea, so when the first decent tea machines came out we bought one. You could set temperature and brewing time and the results were pretty good, BUT cleaning it was a nightmare that made brewing manually again seem like heaven ;). Since then we just have a electric kettle with adjustable temperature.
Jan Kenk because, I could be wrong because I don't know tea so correct me if I am. tea doesn't need time to increase the flavor. wine can be aged for decades and that is what factors in price.
yeah but the price factor increases not because of the aging directly but by the rarity the aging gives with tit also one of the teas there was from 2007 so i guess they conserve special teas just like wine idk.
You're wrong. Tea does have a lot of factors like ageing and the drying process, soil composition, picking time, and what not. It's more than wine and thus there are some varieties of tea which cost $1000 Per Cup, and I'm not talking about the machine or the process of "brewing". Just the tea leaves for 1 cup cost a thousand bucks. It's insane
I don't know that Lew "faked" his emotions, because he isn't really a tea drinker. What that means is, he's probably never had "real" (good) tea from anywhere before. It's more that this was a new experience for him. Tom has probably had a bunch of teas that taste this good or better.
Manufacturing costs don't reflect the total money spent on designing and researching how to make it in the first place. Ever wonder why games typically cost 50-60 bucks even though the disks themselves might only be a few cents to make? Cause the games costed tens to hundreds of millions of dollars to design. If Games or any product were ever sold at or even a little bit above their manufacturing costs, companies that make them go bankrupt really fast cause they can't make back the money they spent to have that product in the first place.
I suggest just a little more investment to get a kettle with a temperature target. This way you get the right brewing temp for the type of tea you are making. 1500$ for a hot water machine? No thanks... (does it even adjust the temp for the type of tea?)
My wife drinks special tea she imports. It's cheaper than Lipton and she uses water boiled on the stove. You know, because she enjoys tea because she likes tea, not because she has to prove she's better than anyone. This machine, though, is for people with big wallets and small personalities.
the most ancient tradition, preparing tea is the easiest thing in the world and you come up with this stupid machine? come on! it just hot water, an infuser and the damn tea. period.
No real difference if you make the tea properly, but that machine means that you don't have to pay attention to everything. Still way too pricy though. But if I could have a "simpler" tea machine where you could - for example - just manually set the time and temperature of brewing, for say $100-150 - I could be interested.
Not really, if you think about it. It all depends on how you have your tea. If you just have a teabag, of course it would be faster to clean. If you have an intricate process then I think that this gadget will be faster. I do however like the fact that this is automatic and that it prepares the tea consistently ever time. I am not convinced that it is the best way to make tea but for a certain demographic, this might just be perfect.
Not fair comparison, you should have conpared good tee vs that machine... Not even mentioning thet bagged tea is just waste from production of non bagged tea... And you just need a kettle for making tea, which costs like 10$ and allows you to make good tea, no perfect timing required... This machine is just for lazy ppl with way too much money.
Ethan Goldiez You just used the word "grammar" as a verb. On top of that you didn't even use it in a proper sentence. You have no right to criticize someone else's grammar.
Beet0pp it won't work. tea in tea bags is finer than loose leaf tea in order to make the steeping process faster. What they should try to do is put a generic loose leaf tea in it.
Not comparable. It should say 3$ tea vs 1500$ packaged tea. If you are going to compare the machine versus traditional style you have to use the same tea leaves in both. It's a factor of variables. Any person with half a brain would know this
apparently on amazon Q&A the company said you can use any loose tea leaves from anywhere. You just need to describe the tea on the app so it'll know what temp and time to steep the leaves. >.> you might as well save the money and google the best time and temp for the teas.
as a hint, Genmaicha is made with bancha, or the larger leaves and bits of stem from the production of sencha, one of the most commonly known Japanese green teas. Japanese green teas are generally harvested by machine and are then sorted by quality. Genmaicha uses the leftovers from the sencha and combines it with puffed and toasted rice grains to provide an attractive sweetness and toasty flavor that some people find tasty. I typically find that the toasty flavor completely overwhelms the tea. You really don't need a $1500 machine to make good tea. All you need is a $40 kettle with temperature controls, a tea infuser (Teavana Perfect TeaMaker is a good start) and a timer. Heat your water to a certain temperature for your tea and let it steep for a certain time for that tea. In the case of genmaicha, you're looking at 160 degrees fahrenheit for 2.5-3 minutes.
Or just boil water to whatever temp it boils at at your current altitude and barometric pressure throw a big or small pinch of tea in a t'pot and leave the leaves in all day and add more water and tea as the day goes on wash the pot (optional) at end of day. Wake and repeat. Thats the way my grandma did it as well as every one in asia. Of course if your not mutch use in the kitchen and need to follow the directions in cook book to make tea you should not be in the kitchen alone wake your mommy. why risk burning your house down
I'd say all you REALLY need to make good tea is a any old kettle (electric or stovetop, doesn't matter, though I prefer the latter) and a small teapot, or a cheap ($5-10) gaiwan, you can get the desired temperature by waiting for the water to cool down, not to mention that most Chinese teas can be steeped in near-boiling water.
Well he is drinking a tea from a 1500 usd machine that only costs a few usd an ounce vs other loose (like the 2007) leaf that can be over 30 usd an ounce. Plus it's an acquired taste, genmaicha with the roasted rice on top of grassy green tea not a commonality in the western palette. (Apologize for any grammatical or spelling issues)
There is a huge difference in brewing fresh tea , and the bag thingy that most people use .But its a very difficult process , mainly because you have to get the temp. and time just right . And thats why they built the machine , but I dont believe that it can replicate the processes efficiently . So the result would be a good tea , better then the bag (or powder) , but not as good as a freshly brewed tea made by a "expert". Also that price tag though (for plastic) !!!
For a non tea drinker, a tea prepared from leaves will blow the pants off the tea bag tea all the time. So his reaction was correct (he never had prepared tea). Tom had, so his mind was not blown. The difference between an expert and a novice.
Your phone can actually host a Wifi network. Turn on the hot spot and connect the machine. Unless your a sucker that bought a phone with that feature locked down so that you can pay them for the work required to lock it down.
6:15 -the process of hooking this thing up to wifi, -getting the app (and i assume a drawn out setup process), -filling it, -cleaning the annoying looking bottle (that probably isn't machine safe), -working through software to get it to start functioning, (let alone spending more than a grand in initial costs) sounds about 1.6 million times harder than getting a 25 dollar steeping tea pot and putting a tablespoon of tea in for like 7 minutes.
Also installing the water filter. Which you will need to keep track of when to replace and is probably overpriced. And if it takes those special tea containers you have to order those to replace them when you run out. Instead of using one water filter for all of your water and buying tea at the store that you already have to go to for groceries.
5:38 trying to tell Tom "Don't you dare say this tea tastes the same. we are sponsored and can't say that." Lmao, ending had so many cuts when Tom's trying to speak.
I absolutely love tea. To make good tea you have to first start with a good quality tea and good water. I think that's more important than having a specific machine. Plus, everyone likes a certain strength and flavour etc. 👌😊
Also, like lew said, he's not the kind of guy that will do through the methods in person to make tea. He prefers to simply put a bag into a cup and let it steep that way. But the machine more or less does all of that work for you. Including at least getting the best out of the water you use given the filter in the reservoir.
I like Tom's reaction better, i feel he is legit, and the guy with the beard just likes to be over exited for litterly everything. Maybe they just pick a weird taste one, tea and taste go strong hand in hand.
Of course the 1500 dollar tea machine isnt better than tea from a paper bag they are same thing. you are just paying for the machine which is a waste of money if you ask me
Austin Amend 1. it could be a sponsorship and he isnt disclaiming it, happens a lot on youtube 2. Rather then it being a sponsorship they could call it a bet and use that as a loophole like "I bet you x amount that this tea will taste better"
Accordion to science, 90% of people don't realize that the first of this sentence is an instrument. You that read wrong. That awkward when you realize you read that wrong too. .... and said "moment" after awkward. This is awkward.
I hate when people do stuff like this, I catch it almost every time. It interrupts my reading and is a bit jarring and quite annoying. I don't just instantly correct for it like most people do.
As long as your not using fine ground material, any travel mug with the small drink hole can be used as an all-in-one infuser and mug for a strong brew.
Nothing beats making tea the traditional way with a teapot, loose leaf tea and water at the right temperature. The procedure might take time, but tea is not a beverage to be rushed. The process of making tea should get you into a relaxed state where you can sit down and just enjoy it.
Why didnt you let him say what he thought in full??? Why did you even bother having him come on if the only allowed response was that the expensive tea was incredible.
Those who make the tea from the kettle must learn to be the tea... if tea is poured into a teacup it becomes the teacup if it is poured into your stomach it becomes your stomach you must learn to be the tea and then you will make good tea. If you use a machine you have not become the tea you have just made the tea... become the tea from the kettle...
I have some organic loose leaf that I enjoy. I would be curious as to how it would taste with this machine. If it makes it better then it might be worth $1500. I actually like my $10 brew mug.
It's not like any of those things cuz hes not selling you anything or have to ability to. It is what it is...... awesome entertaining reviews and your watching for a reason so stop trying to make it something that its not
Someone has probably already said it but genmaicha is a different type of tea, it's brown rice tea (green mixed with roasted rice) so it will taste very different from normal green tea. It's very good! People should try it, you can get it in normal tea bag form as well and it's miles better than plain green!
Just buy good loose leaf tea and a kettle that you can set the temperature on. You can buy cups that filter the tea leaves out before you pour them, simply boil water to the correct temp, pour it in and wait the time and you're done. certain teas prefer certain temperatures and seeping time. Teabags are basically Tea dust.
The thing is that the tea maker doesn't actually make the tea better its that they use really high quality tea so of course its going to taste better. The difference between just using a kettle and using this machine is a slight difference in taste. If it really is that good he should do a blind taste test video using the tea from the tea maker in a normal kettle and with the tea machine. Then he probably wont taste a difference.
I paid $149 for a Smarter iKettle to make my tea with and it is totally worth it. It has an app on my phone. I can control the exact temp of the water. It holds the water at that temp until I use it. It's not an all in one device like this, but I love it.

What about Great Value Bleach? It gives you the quality bleach without affecting your wallet too badly.
Great Value Bleach off brand bleach
But cheaper though...
Great Value Bleach you don't work as good though
Quantity>Quality
sorry it needs to be a blind taste test in order for it to be a valid comparison... sorry Lew you duffed that review up
Arbaaz Patwari because he is gonna be subconsciously bias because people naturally assume the more expensive something is the better the quality

Lol they’re gone now
Chapter 11 on October 2017. I doubt many would have bought it anyways when I can save $1300 buying tea bags.

I'll stick to using bags and buy a $1500 gaming rig.

Pro-tip. Heat sink on power supply, grind a cup holder into it. Your $1500 gaming rig can now brew tea! Your welcome my friend.
Why on the power supply? Create a slow-flowing watercooling loop and use the CPU and GPU to heat heat the water xD
If you are buying a $1500 tea maker. You probably aren't "settling" for a $1,500 gaming rig.
who says :)
This is literally $1500 for boiled water and crushed up leaves..
Only genmaicha is semi-crushed leaves. Most other teas are full leaves.
people pay the same money for crushed grapes man why not water and leaves.

Thepizzaman00 buy a kettle
Thepizzaman00 that's called ruining tea
I can see that from your name. BTW I'm homophobic
Thepizzaman00 here come the brits
How did you know?! 😁
ill be the person that uses it a cuple times then forgets that its on my counter top
Same
Sameeeeee
We all do
so if my wifi is in maintenance I cant have tea??
rip tea
Hahahaha just use the kettle
Your phone can actually host a Wifi network. Turn on the hot spot and connect the machine.
Unless your a sucker that bought a phone with that feature locked down so that you can pay them for the work required to lock it down.
Alan Hunter unless your a sucker and you bought a $1500 tea machine that can't even function on it's own
Tom's Reaction to the Tea!! "Priceless!"
6:15
-the process of hooking this thing up to wifi,
-getting the app (and i assume a drawn out setup process),
-filling it,
-cleaning the annoying looking bottle (that probably isn't machine safe),
-working through software to get it to start functioning,
(let alone spending more than a grand in initial costs)
sounds about 1.6 million times harder than getting a 25 dollar steeping tea pot and putting a tablespoon of tea in for like 7 minutes.
Your Dear Ol' Grandad Oo 7 minutes is a very strong tea. 3 to 5 Minutes would be my idea strength.
Also installing the water filter. Which you will need to keep track of when to replace and is probably overpriced. And if it takes those special tea containers you have to order those to replace them when you run out. Instead of using one water filter for all of your water and buying tea at the store that you already have to go to for groceries.
No one on this Planet has ever made downloading and using an App sound more difficult. My god
i could make a bowl of matcha using a Japanese tea set quicker
This is actually more work and cleanup than a regular kettle. Colossal waste of money
5:38 trying to tell Tom "Don't you dare say this tea tastes the same. we are sponsored and can't say that." Lmao, ending had so many cuts when Tom's trying to speak.
The cut after the "it's definitely good" 😂😂
"I was expecting more"
Shots fired :D
I absolutely love tea. To make good tea you have to first start with a good quality tea and good water. I think that's more important than having a specific machine. Plus, everyone likes a certain strength and flavour etc. 👌😊
Hound Life Vlogs Exactly 👌😊☕️
Hound Life Vlogs Yeah they would need to test the same tea in 2 methods of making it to really compare the value of the machine.
Hound Life Vlogs It looks like a cool machine though 😄
Hound Life Vlogs what I like is the visual appeal of seeing the tea being made in a cool way. Nothing more really.
Nisco Racing Literally
Yea, but that's why he gets paid for advertising these products. Obviously he is biased.
Tom is just shy, he's clearly not used to be in front of the camera
Tetley Baby
Of course the 1500 dollar tea machine isnt better than tea from a paper bag they are same thing. you are just paying for the machine which is a waste of money if you ask me
it's nice that Lew has started to add the cost of the product in the video title so that I know if I have to watch it and to be reminded how poor I am
that said still love your videos mate
That's a coffee maker. Same mechanic and everything. It's already been invented
Come on Lew, how could you NOT end this with "if that's your cup of tea"
In the middle east we drink tea nearly every hour we drink it when the weather is blazing hot or freezing cold 😁
YEA
When ever my grandparents visit that my life
BrhoomxCraft I haven't drunk tea for an hour, and i feel craving already 😂 لزوم نحضر الشاهي
BrhoomxCraft you must have to go to the bathroom a lot
BrhoomxCraft yup
this was a very awkward video
lol Tom looked like an abused dog that didn't want to say that the tea just wasn't that great
The cut after the "it's definitely good" 😂😂
He probably said something bad after that
tom seems to feel uncomfeble on camera xD
Its because Lu is getting paid to says its amazing, and tom is like "it taste like the other tea"
well played
HarroKitteh He's legally obligated to say if he was paid to say good things... so... actually he wasn't because I don't see any disclaimer
Austin Amend 1. it could be a sponsorship and he isnt disclaiming it, happens a lot on youtube 2. Rather then it being a sponsorship they could call it a bet and use that as a loophole like "I bet you x amount that this tea will taste better"
Austin Amend ACTUALLLY he doesn't have to tell us if he was sponsored, he HAS to tell GOOGLE
That machine makes Starbucks look cheap...
Starbucks makes tea? Geeez, I'm missing out
Accordion to science, 90% of people don't realize that the first of this sentence is an instrument.
You that read wrong.
That awkward when you realize you read that wrong too.
.... and said "moment" after awkward.
This is awkward.
Bob Stuffguy Wow the amount of times I've seen that and still fall for it.
I hate when people do stuff like this, I catch it almost every time. It interrupts my reading and is a bit jarring and quite annoying. I don't just instantly correct for it like most people do.
Bob Stuffguy Stop with the mind gsmes
+Bob Stuffguy yooooooooooo
Bob Stuffguy i didnt even stutter
As long as your not using fine ground material, any travel mug with the small drink hole can be used as an all-in-one infuser and mug for a strong brew.
Nothing beats making tea the traditional way with a teapot, loose leaf tea and water at the right temperature. The procedure might take time, but tea is not a beverage to be rushed. The process of making tea should get you into a relaxed state where you can sit down and just enjoy it.
pyro1324 seriously I agree
How much did they pay him to promote and make this Tea so magic...
Probably he gets a cut from the sales.
Yeaaaaa no...
to show that guy not too much. its sopose to be an actor but its real.
sorry Teforia Tea Infuser u sucks.
It's not magic at all.
Rather throw it into a harbour.
5% of the people watching this get that joke! lol
Jelly Penguin i get it cus i live in Boston
Jelly Penguin I don't get it...
Look up Boston tea party
Boston Harbor tea is the best kind of tea.
Eh, I'll stick with the bag kind. Spending $1500 on a fancy brewer is really not my cup of tea...
I see what you did
I think the $1500 machine was the *Lew-ser*...
kettle is better if you buy good priced tea
True
1500 $ for tea machine I can Buy a new Gaming PC or a car
a pretty cheap car though
But your PC can't scan tea though
I'd rather buy myself a Go Kart
Light Knight I would rather get new goalie gear and a bike. That's what I need. I'm also talking about hockey gear.
WATSONMUTH wat the hell?
the editing on this video is amazing
Why didnt you let him say what he thought in full??? Why did you even bother having him come on if the only allowed response was that the expensive tea was incredible.
ninjaraph I know why
I'm British and the best tea is Yorkshire Gold
PG TIPS
Jonnyclaw reviews good point PG tips are good but Yorkshire gold is amazing but if can't convince you PG tips do a gold one to

It's literally a Tea Keurig, that costs as much as a used car.
I have been watching a bunch of your old videos and that tea looks like its a rice tea. Its soo good!
hold on, i'm gonna go find my *spare $1.5k*
its $380 now, cause apparently it's crap and hard to use.
Best making of tea is in tea pot , authentic way
Is this buzzfeed
Neighbor Vadim na
Neighbor Vadim no this is patrick
For Christmas for myself I got a tea kettle with preset heating settings for different teas. Can’t wait to use it! 😅
Unless ur sponsored and can make money. 😜
Dang Sketchy Dude deep breath* 😑
zachiry duff I will just be water
zach doof XD inspirational
Are you high?
But can it fry chicken?
Tyger Voods yes
Yes
yes
yes
I have some organic loose leaf that I enjoy. I would be curious as to how it would taste with this machine. If it makes it better then it might be worth $1500. I actually like my $10 brew mug.
Looks nice, but not really my cup of tea at that price.
Dutch Blades ha ha!
You didn't remove stickers from the bottom of the cups.. unsubscribed
CPPD why is it disturbing tho
Unbox Therapy is basically just QVC for millennials.
as long as you dont buy and thereby encourage this kind of excess of luxury, i dont mind watching these absurd product videos
QVC ?
It’s more like sky mall when that was still a thing. It’s interesting, kinda bullshit, shit that he is euthistatically reviewing
It's not like any of those things cuz hes not selling you anything or have to ability to. It is what it is...... awesome entertaining reviews and your watching for a reason so stop trying to make it something that its not
FACTS XD
Someone has probably already said it but genmaicha is a different type of tea, it's brown rice tea (green mixed with roasted rice) so it will taste very different from normal green tea. It's very good! People should try it, you can get it in normal tea bag form as well and it's miles better than plain green!
every 60sec a min passes😢
bhavya bansal rest in pepperonis
😲 mind blown! who would've thought?
Title should be called tea you cant afford!!
Now there is another tea i cannot afford
1 plus 6 tea
😅😅😅😅😅
You can most middle class people spend more then that in Hobby's so if it's your party
Im drinking tea as i watch this haha. I'm so British :( lol
Gimmie that damn tea, my dear sir.
Sam Butler Actually India and China are some of the biggest tea producers, also they were the original creators of it, not the British.
I wasn't saying Britain was, i was saying Britain drink a lot of it haha
Sam Butler British drink slot of tea? goddamn right I love tea
alot* who's Been messing with my auto correct
Just buy good loose leaf tea and a kettle that you can set the temperature on. You can buy cups that filter the tea leaves out before you pour them, simply boil water to the correct temp, pour it in and wait the time and you're done. certain teas prefer certain temperatures and seeping time. Teabags are basically Tea dust.
I'm British, I'm angry this thing exists, PG TIPS FOREVER
Max Williams PG Tips are okay but Yorkshire Tea is next level.
This machine ruins the humble cup of tea.
Tetley through and through
Tetley tea
PG Tips is overrated mate, get some Yorkshire Gold in to you.
That should cost 50$ at the most. Also where was the cheap kettle, I don't think he even showed it
The thing is that the tea maker doesn't actually make the tea better its that they use really high quality tea so of course its going to taste better.
It's not an all in one device like this, but I love it.
umm sorry, but the British don't make tea wrong, we can't, it's not in our blood, Good Sir!
its not in your blood?
not in the blood to make it wrong.
yea i know I am questioning that =P
It's not in your blood? But you learned it from India...
lol, no from China maybe. The british introduced tea to India, from China.
Teabag tea is like drinking garbage residue from normal tea with added flavouring... and that genmaicha they are drinking is an "interesting" taste.
He has to be high when he does those inspirational nonsensical soliloquies at the end of videos.
Haha so true
love his friend's honest reaction. Always told my friends this guy will overreact for any expensive/cool product or cash you give him. lmao
