@warikoo Ankur the calculation is wrong.
Your calculation doesn't include loan repayment emi
In chunnus case this money can be considered as additional sip amount
And in munnus case it's emi
For a loan of 3L emi amount is 9750
So for an apple to apple comparison
You have to consider that emi amount as chunnus additional sip for 3 years 😊
When you consider that chunnu will have more money (@12% MF ) Growth
Basically when u take a LAMF it's just that you are borrowing money at 10.5 and investing it as Lumpsum
The comparison should be made in that way
I know this because I always calculate
That if I take a loan at say 10% and invest as Lumpsum vs pay the emi amount as sip.
There might be slight difference but doesn't worth the hassle and the issues comes with debt
LAMF can be used against selling at a loss when the market is down by a lot in that case you will making profit, when u compare LAMF vs Selling units.
In other scenario if u increase the loan tenure there might be a slight difference but not huge
      Please check yourself and reply

@warikoo One interesting point to consider when Considering Redemption vs LAMF. If Someone is redeeming X amount and not paying Y amount as EMI for 3-4 Years He/She can effectively make a new SIP for Y amount for those 3 years. It will be interesting to see how much difference will be there between redemption vs LAMF.

      @shivalikchadha9702 6 місяців тому +1

In that case also, if your MF returns are higher let's say 13% per annum, then still taking a loan would be a better option rather than redeeming the amount and start an SIP with same EMI amount

Incorrect assumption. When someone pays emi for loan then that much money is less for SIP. So the one who sells MF unit can afford to continue SIP but the one took loan cannot. So the difference will be much much less. Not 28 lakhs. Totally incorrect.

I've recently been advised to explore saving money on loans through mutual funds. My current approach of simply holding assets doesn't feel sufficient in today's market, especially with inflation impacting my $2.5 million inherited portfolio. The idea is to diversify with stocks and bonds, but I'm concerned about ensuring financial stability post-retirement.

@ankur, this point should be considered, the scenario you have placed, it's half-baked, consider the EMI burden for the loan taker or add the same EMI amount for the other person as additional SIP, I believe the difference will not be much more... so I suggest before producing and influencing the persons with any information consider all the scenarios, in practical it's not good and 16% and 10.5% ROI on Pl is there..

Thank you sirji. Perhaps another option which is worth mentioning is overdraft against FD where there are no processing charges. Generally, interest delta over FD is one to two percent (net cost) depending upon the bank and overdraft can be repaid whenever there is surplus cash to reduce the interest cost.

    Calculation isn't accurate.
Do the calculation by assuming that Chunnu invested the EMI amount regularly (instead of paying EMIs). Also assume that loan fees is invested in MF too.
Ultimately, it might be almost the same.

Hi ankur. This video also motivated me to take loan against my small investment I would like to mention. These loans are still considered to be bad debst as work as same as credit cards loans. Most importantly they don't charge the simple interest such they're interest rate calculated as fixed/flat not as reducing. Please clarify how this become cheaper if by any chance I if I unable to one emi they'll charge heavy interest and my years of investment will be on risk. That's why this thing is not legitimate and not being practiced by any regulated banks. These investments just considered as security but can't get you a loan. Please some disaproved if I am wrong.

    • @voltmoney
      @voltmoney 6 місяців тому

      Hi Shivam,
      Let us break some Myths.
      1. Interest rate is on reducing principle- Just like when one pays back principal & the interest burden also reduces, same is with LAMF. When you repay the principal every month in whatsoever amount you desire to pay, your interest cost will also come down. At Volt 10.49% interest is on reducing principle & NOT on Flat.
      2. We only deduct interest only EMI- If you take personal loan your EMI will be Principal+Interest, if you take LAMF your EMI will be 'Interest only EMI'.
Let us explain with an example.
If you take a 1L personal loan for 12 months at 10.49%, your first month EMI will be Rs 8814/-
If you take a 1L LAMF for 12 months at 10.49%, your first month EMI will be Rs 874/-
The difference is we don't auto debit the principal part, as we have given freedome to our customers to repay flexibly & giving them a benefit to become debt free faster.
We hope we were able to answer your questions.

      Hey, Valid question.
Yes even your Pledged/locked mutual funds will also grow.
That is the best part that Mutual Funds is income generating assets & while you take loan against mutual funds, your mutual funds will grow as well.

Ankur Sir, Sip on a particular date every month is good investment but it is not best way to drag your ultimate profit. Rather same sip in different way of investment approach in same MF can open investors eyes.

Some new content after long time. Munnu needs to do time travel to know about lamf through this video 😅 lamf is good for new investors, mature investors should opt for profit booking IMO

MFs are a long-term investment vehicle. Profit booking in MFs & re investing in some other MFs is zero sum game as in long term returns are more or like similar. So irrespective of mature or new investors, selling mutual funds is a bad idea, always.

I have a question sir, for the 3 year tenure where munnu had to pay 10k extra every month towards EMI of LAMF, please workout a calculation if Chunnu paid 20k a month towards SIP for 3 years (as no EMI burden) or munnu stopped SIP for 3 years to pay EMIs. Wouldn’t this be a fair calculation?
    Warm regards,
Eternal love & respect for you.

Sir, when we take LAMF we also need to pay Loan EMI.
300000 for 3 year at 10.5 % will mean a EMi of close to 9800
To make the calculation fair this amount should also be considered and added back to Chunnu's SIP amount for 3 year.
I agree if we consider 12% return on MF and personal loan at 16% .. LAMF will still be better
But if you manage to get around 15% on MF and personal loan at 13 to 15% then the difference may not be big. And you do not have any loan against your name as well.
Just a thought from my side

The interest of 51k that you're paying on LAMF is also coming out of some place. If invested, that will also grow in a period of 10 years as the rest of the portfolio does. It should also be accounted for accordingly instead of going just for the face value.

This concept is very good, but sir we are investing in mutual funds using our demat account, then this scheme is not useful for us . SIP with third party person is not safe (this is my opinion). So can you tell that how can we take LAMF against our mutual fund in demat account.

If market down during loan tenure, who will benefit in this scenario.... how does it work in bear market. Instead of paying EMI , We can make SIP for same EMI amount . it would benefit in bear market
