Didn't even realize there was an elephant theme!
It must be that low brass horn that plays. That actually is really clever though.
@@Billigoat21I also noticed that some of the percussion stops when you’re not moving, and resumes when you start moving. This goes for all levels, afaik

They must be loving the SMB1 Airship Theme after they cooked it up for Mario Maker. First Odyssey, now Wonder.
It is a W
I know right. The last time they used the normal Airship Theme in a mainline game was in a remake. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Obvious. It's a thousand times better than the SMB3 theme
@@shrobbyy NO! BOTH ARE GOOD!! SMB3 Theme has a very intimidating, scary feel at times. And the Odyssey one sounds a bit more bowser-ish but VERY MUCH intimidating. Both are *EQUALLY* good.
Where was it in Odyssey?
I love how when nintendo was making SMM they were like "oh shit we gotta come up with an airship theme for SMB1" and then accidentally cooked so hard they started using it as the new airship themes for their later games
I could've sworn the motif was used in earlier games, I remember hearing it in NSMB wii
I miss the Mars Bringer of War spinoff but this goes hard.
True that!!! The original goes just as hard.: ua-cam.com/video/jh12arXMQGg/v-deo.html
@@soulenoid6701 NSMB Wii used the SMB 3 airship theme as its motif.
Idk why but this take on it feels more like it should be in a sonic game
I absolutely love that the SMB1 airship theme from Mario Maker has been almost seamlessly brought into the main series, as if it was always here and a reoccurring theme.
Fr I didn’t even realize it was only a MM music when I heard it I though “oh this is the classical airship theme I should maybe check it out again”
Nintendo straight up gaslighting its fanbase into believing this song is from 1985
I literally felt Nostalgic forgetting that its still a fairly new song.
@@k-berry8771 You don't remember the 4-3 airship level from SMB?
*recurring
"Reocurring" is not a word.
My jaw dropped when the guitar came in, but it practically dislocated when the Mario Maker Airship theme started. This might be one of the best songs in the game, hands down.
THE BEST
I agree.

Yes
You can tell Koji was so proud of this theme he worked it into the mainline games
I love how you can definitely tell this is a Koji Kondo song
@@KOOPAS1234 It’s not hard to tell. I mean, he was the main composer for the first Super Mario Maker on Wii U, which is where this came from. He wrote all the new level theme music for the old legacy games in both Super Mario Maker and Super Mario Maker 2, and he was sound director for this game (he also confirmed he wrote some of this game’s music).
The guitar samples used here also sound like the same ones he used for his “King Bowser” arrangement in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
the airship levels are always the coolest part of any mario game, and it's no different here.

I don't know who was the person who made the decision to make everything Bowser related metal AF. but that was a good decision. Give that person a raise!!
It must have been a pretty early decision. The NES SMB didn't have boss themes, and I'm still not sure what genre the SMB3 one is, but as early as SMW's final boss, you got guitars and bass going.
That's not even speaking of Yoshi's Island's final boss theme.
Bowser’s always had that, though. Ever heard the Super Mario World final boss theme? Even Mario 3’s “King Bowser” theme was meant to have this sound, as Koji Kondo himself rearranged it in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in that style. Super Mario 64’s regular Bowser battle themes are totally meant to be in this style, too.
It was Sunshine and Galaxy that deviated from this. Even Super Mario 3D World’s Bowser battle theme has tons of electric guitar.
Mario Maker's SMB airship theme is gonna be a mainstay for future airship themes. I'm not complaining.

I think that was the smb3 airship theme
I actually got goosebumps when I first heard this song, and combined with the snow in the first airship level.
Goosebumps. From a Mario game
Saame, I absolutely love when a Mario game puts you on edge
*NSMB spooky mansion theme starts playing*
Instead of goosebumps, my arm was stuck diagonally for the entire duration of the video
This sounds like a fan remix in the best of way possible, i couldn't believe what i was hearing when i first played this level, this slaps hard.
I felt like that too! You just don't expect Metal music from a Nintendo game, let alone a Mario game. God, I love this game, lmao.
@cameronsecore643 almost every bowser related theme has music like that or something similar since sm64 tho except sunshine, galaxy and the 3 first nsmb games
I expected the usual Airship theme remix, but I got something way better! I always really liked the theme they gave SMB1 styled Airship courses in Mario Maker, so I appreciate any love it gets elsewhere!
I have no idea what instrument is being used for whenever you have the Elephant power up, but I absolutely love the touch and this is probably my favorite theme for it!
I think it's not an added instrument, but rather the tone becomes a little lower.
i’m kinda sad there was no smb3 airship theme refrence
@@tangelaspaghetti5174 Me too. Now its a *DOOM ETERNAL* reference.
It’s definitely a horn of some sort, not just the original sound lower
to me it sounds like a trombone or a high tuba, tho i could be wrong
I instantly recognized that NES Airship motif from Mario Maker when I first heard this in-game. That was such a welcome surprise.
I like to think that Koji Kondo put his all into coming up with a new SMB1 airship theme not based on the SMB3 one, and after finishing he was like "dang I like this one way better" and is just having a blast with it.
I really love the fact that they went all out with this remix of the SMM1 airship theme. They did not have to do this, since they have done it in Odyssey, but they still did it. I really love this remix, thank you Nintendo.
SO glad they're pushing this theme more, great Airship theme I might like even more than SMB3's
It really does feel like the SMB1 airship theme from Mario maker has been there from the very beginning! i love seeing them use it in non mario maker stuff :)
I screamed when I heard the smb1 Airship theme kick in. So good.
SMB1 AIRSHIP THEME ON TOP FOREVER WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO99
Bowser always got some type of badass metal banger blasting in his areas. 🤘🏻 🔥 🤘🏻 🎸 🎶
I'm such a diehard Mario fan let alone Mario Maker, and to hear the Super Mario Bros 1 Airship Theme included here brings a smile to my face!
Maybe there is a reason for these levels to have slow autoscrollers, they realise this music hits harder than my dad's belt
AYO😭🙏
i fucking love how much they went off with the airships, everything about them contrasts so beautifully with the rest of the game. all of the levels in this game are painted in vivid colors and set to songs that, while obviously varied enough to fit each and every situation, still set the tone of this lighthearted and whimsical adventure.
*then* you get to the first airship level. the skies turn grey and stormy. the ship itself is metallic and almost entirely colored black. the only splashes of color that break up the gloomy mood are the blaring green lights and flames of the ship, and the explosions from the firework-like enemies produced en masse. the score suddenly gets more intense, throwing out any preconceptions from previous songs in the game and presenting the player with a heavier, almost militant tune that uses instruments you'd hear in a rock or metal song. the whole stage *feels* harsher and colder than the rest of the world you've explored so far, and considering the environmental storytelling at play in these levels it fits perfectly. these aren't just normal airships, these are floating factories that produce all of the weaponry bowser uses in his conquest, and you're infiltrating them in order to make them self-destruct from the inside. the best part of all of this, though, is that it's all executed in a way where the game manages to toe the line that is doing a tone shift without feeling totally incongruous towards what came before it. things like the aforementioned splashes of color help a lot with that
maybe that's kind of an overdramatic paragraph but you cant deny these levels fucking rock
They set a scene I love.
Can't believe you're still uploading after nearly 11 years. You're doing a service for all of us by uploading these soundtracks. Godspeed, Yoshi VGM

👏
So far the coolest theme in the game.
It's so cool to see a theme from a spin-off title get remixed in a mainline Mario game! I hope they use more of Mario Maker's original tracks in the future
Wouldn’t necessarily called it a spin off…
That’s because all of the original new music that was retroactively composed for Super Mario Bros. 1 & 3, and World were all written by Koji Kondo in both Super Mario Maker 1 and 2.
So they’re more or less the “official” versions of music for course themes that never actually existed back in the 80s and 90s. I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually start adding in the SMB1 Ghost, Desert, Forest, and Snow themes at some point as well.
@@PianistTanooki really hoping they use that SMB1 or SMW desert theme at some point
I would absolutely die of glee if they put SMB1 snow music in a mainline game.
What if all of these things already existed, but were never used?
This is one of those songs that’ll give me heavy nostalgia in like 9 years lmao
Easily one of the best Mario songs ever produced, it’s just *elegant*
Mr. Koji Kondo, you have outdone yourself. Again
We're making our own mario courses with this one 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I'm not even halfway through this game yet and I already know it has a banger soundtrack
I never actually noticed that you can see the Mushroom Kingdom from there.
Well, I say I never noticed it like the game's been out for twenty years.
Yeah, seems like it might be across a river, now we know that the Mushroom kingdom borders the Bean-bean kingdom and the Flower kingdom (Edit: most likely also borders the Koopa kingdom, ruled by Bowser, if it's even a real kingdom), idk about Sarasaland tho, but Sarasaland has multiple kingdoms so it's more so an Empire ruled by Daisy

smb1 airship theme makes sense, because that one was made out of black metal like this one is
Nintendo just deciding that, if we're gonna steal a NWBHM riff, we may as well just make the whole-ass song.
This is INCREDIBLE, DAMN
The airship theme is always my favorite in every Mario game.
Them using the SMB1 Airship theme in Wonder for the Airship was not something I was expecting, the rock and new aesthetic for the Airships really make those levels shine.
2:35 It's Perfect...
Don't know why but this gives me 40 year old men with real long hair and leather jackets jamming out in the basement vibes but I find it a lot of fun
Best airship theme imo!
By far one of my favorite airship themes.
I love wearing Jet Run on airship levels and totally never falling off because of the "go fast" rather than "do it right" attitude of the Jet Run badge.
Tips to "do it right" even with Jet Run:
1. If you always jump right before hitting the ground (you can buffer jumps!) you can stay still.
2. Ground Pounds are a great way to stop, and you can even cancel a Ground Pound by pressing UP.
3. If you are ducking, you move much slower, great if you want to keep relatively still without jumping!
HERE WE HAVE IT, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! THE ULTIMATE THEME OF SUPER MARIO BROS. WONDER! IT'S PURE ROCK AND GLORY!
This game’s OST goes so hard!!!
feeling nostalgic for the theme which didn't existed in smb1 era
I CAN'T believe Nintendo actually remember the SMM games, but I love this since the SMB1 was my most favorite airship theme since I played Mario Maker on the Wii U, and who knows, maybe now that Nintendo took so much inspiration from Mario Maker 2 and the common use of this song in modern Mario games we will actually have Super Mario Maker 3!
Shiro Mouri: "okay so its just another airship theme, you dont have to go all out"
Koji Kondo: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It has such a distinct 1980s rock sound to it. I love that. Especially fitting given that this is a remix of a song we're supposed to pretend Koji Kondo wrote in 1985.
Mario really pulls out an electric guitar out his ass with this OST... and cooks hard.

Somehow this game perfected almost everything about the series except for the difficulty and the boss battles, which fell flat on their faces.
