I think we were there a week or so before you and I would say it was even more amazing than you make out, the place, the people, the fishing. One thing I would say is take a wading stick ! REALLY take a wadding stick ! and that way you do not fall over ! And whilst you can easily cover all the water with a single hander the Double Hander is a game changer re loosing fish in amongst the rocks. Keep up the good work, realistic representations of what you get when you go to these lodges. We are from the UK and this year we are off to our 10th Lodge that you (amongst others) have featured and so far your reports have really helped in all our planning.
Nice video Rob 🎣👍🎣. It is fantastic to watch a buddy catch, there FIRST big salmon 22lb+. When he have only been catching 2lb+ trout, he was smiling all the way home. It was awesome 😃😉. This was on Stave river in mission B.C 🇨🇦. My next mission with him is, to teach him how to fly fish 😊.
What a pleasure to watch my favourite guide in his film star gig doing some amazing fishing in Newfoundland! Maybe I need to add this lodge and river to my group's list of must-fish places? I liked the look of the river and, like most, I just can't get enough of dry fly fishing for Atlantic salmon. The home pool looked like a great stretch but then the whole river showed well in the video. My only disappointment was not seeing your river-right snake roll casts with the switch rod. Next time. Meanwhile, I am counting the days until I get out in NB, NS, Labrador and Quebec, all in this year's "program".
We watch salmon feed on tadpoles in the rivers here on the southwest coast of Newfoundland. When cleaning a fish it’s not uncommon for the fish to have a full belly in the river.

Thanks Terry. Very kind. I hope you have a wonderful season, and if I get anywhere close, I will look you up.

I've gone for a number of swims wearing those "new-fangled state of the art soles .... went back to felts!
I've gone for swims with all of them, felt included. When you fish a lot, it's inevitable.
Great video. You wouldn't have went down with a wading staff. I'm in my late 60's now,and won't get in a river without one.
Very true
I don't disagree and I have used them, but sometimes it just doesn't matter. If you fish on rivers enough, you'll take a dip.
Tis that itchy time of the year hey lol
what time of the year/week of the season was this filmed? (presumably early or mid season?)
Last week of June is when Rob was there we believe
Yes. Last week of June.
Why do my fly fishing obsessions always come around in the winter when all the streams are iced over
sorry to torture you this way....at least there some good things to watch while we all wait!
Have you developed bomber too?
If you're asking if I tied it, I did not. I do tie bombers but not as well as those that I used. I stick to my strengths. 😉
16 ads my gosh
Great show Rob!
