  • In this video I ride my 2023 CFMOTO Ibex 800T from South Central Missouri to Southwester New Mexico to see what treasures there are to be discovered in the southwestern US deserts. A 4000 mile journey begins... Will the CFMOTO survive or fall by the way side? This and many more questions will be answered in this video series...

Good Luck Jon for your IBEX 800T real world review from a real adventure rider and motorcycle guru. I enjoyed your insights into the CFMOTO 800T its really a great buy with all the bells and whistles cruise and TFT dash nav and all. I got my eyes on it at my local dealer and really liked what I saw and researching all the sources of add on luggage fairings windshields etc. Keep us tuned in to your travels with the IBEX 800.

Hi John - getting some time to watch your series today from here in Canada. Texas has the Canadian Rivers - in Alberta we have "Texas gates" - which are called cattle guards pretty much ever wheres else including Texas :) I had a chance to travel a bit in that Silver City country - it is beautiful.

Thanks Jon for another fine video. I'd been looking forward to some footage from the out-west trip. Glad that the CFMOTO is not disappointing. Keep up the good work, bring us more!

How do you keep it under 90 on them straight roads 🤔 lol
There have been many of time I got lucky after cruising then back down to posted speed then the law goes by 😅 that is one nice thing about the smaller bikes being you can't get in too much trouble...

  • @thekikendallsautoandrandom1271

How did you get your bags to sit flush on the right side of the bike? Did you buy an adapter plate? I just bought my new Ibex 800t from Stahlmans in Rolla yesterday, and trying to figure out how to mount my nelson riggs bags I had for my KLR on it.

Very interesting John, are you riding alone.
That cruise control would definitely come in handy on those long flat roads in Texas.
Here in Ireland 🇮🇪 l travel mostly coast roads on my Honda cb 500s it's a perfect bike for Irish roads, it's very reliable and quite fast.
Look forward to seeing the rest of your adventure.

Just found your channel, and watched your video after taking your Trailmax Missions off, & putting on the Shinkos. You said you were headed to Big Bend soon. I’m not seeing any videos on Big Bend, or it mentioned in any of the video titles for this series. Did you not end up going to Big Bend? Thanks

I carry a product called fuel doctor it works a treat for water in fuel situations. What tires are on the bike and how have they been on road. Safe travels

Hello there sir, good to hear from you. I have a set of Mitas E-07+ tires on the Ibex. They are a very good 50/50 tire. They have excellent grip in the twisties and wet surface grip is quite good as well. There is some whine at highway speeds but pretty minimal for a 50/50 tire I would say. They are the best 50/50 tire I have had on gravel and hard pack. The rear tire really digs and gets a good grip... I have not had a single slip with the front tire with these Mitas tires. I currently have 5500 miles on this set. It looks like the rear will go another 1000 miles or so and the front looks like it will last through a second rear tire but we will see... These are my favorite 50/50 tire that I have had... will be putting them on the Tiger as well next go around... thanks for watching... keep safe out there... :)

Thank you for your response, I am considering selling my Africa twin to buy one of these bikes as the Africa is too tall for my height and I mainly do gravel touring and don't require the extra suspension travel. Take care and thanks again.@@jonsmith9892

Are you still happy with your rugged smartphone for navigation? I decided to go that route also. Do you create tracks to follow or mainly use Google Maps for routes?

Hello there sir, good to hear from you.. Yes I am still using my rugged phone. I do not have a sim card in mine so I down load off line Google maps for navigation when traveling and I also have an app that I make my own trail maps with... I have not had any issues with my Okitel thus far... thanks for watching... happy trails... :)
