Collage football champion Super Bowl champion Ryder cup winner Former president of the state of Ohio All time leading tackler for the GB Packer Father of 10 AJ HAWK
As I'm reading this I can hear the boys in the Thunderdome yelling in perfect unison "WHAD" after every achievement. Absolutely love it. Thank you for sharing. 👊
He is NOT the all time leading tackler for Green Bay. John Anderson is the leading tackler for Green Bay with over 1000 tackles, almost twice as many as Hawk> Do some research before you post something ignorant.
One Ray Lewis doesn't play in the same conference so he doesn't crowd hawk out of the pro bowl. Two, Willis and Urlacher only made the same Probowl twice anyway, so for most of his career there were open spots for the second middle linebacker in the pb. Three, there can be up to 3 middle Lbs from a conference, and he was still left off those teams. Four, if you can't make top 3 in your position in conference for your position, you aren't close at all to all pro. He wasn't actually that good. Like he was benched in 2014 and cut from the team in 2015 when he was only making 4 million at like 30. He was abysmal against the run for most of his career. As a middle linebacker, that's like 60% of his job.
@@johnfitzgerald8855vintage non ball knower, it wasnt even Middle linebackers it was inside linebackers in general. And guess what aj hawks two best years the ILBS that made the pro bowl over him were Bowman, willis and and darryl washington in 2012 and in 2013 it was bowman, willis and a little known 2nd player named luke Kuechly.
@@IcyTormentsthese are pointless distinctions, there hasn't really been 3-4 and 4-3 rigidity since like 2010. Its where do they line up in nickel personel. Hawk was inside the guards, in the middle. regardless of the position titles, he wasn't actually top player at his position in his conference. Even with injury replacements he was passed over. The team was consistently awful against the run; he graded terribly as a run defender.
All I know is a bills fan..he never once scared me and we had mid to bad teams. I've always considered him over rated. Dude isn't even a top 10 lb from his generation. So yeah he was good. But they won't ever build him a statue
College legend. Solid pro with 1 Pro Bowl selection and a Super Bowl ring. He won't make any NFL Greatest lists but he was a very good player and had a solid career.
AJ Hawk is a menace to society: drives with two feet, falls asleep at the wheel, doesn't turn the engine off while getting gas, driving golf carts into water hazards, destroying the set of the Pat McAfee show, and may be a certified soaker.
I don’t think people understand that Hawk’s dependability was a huge part of why that Packers defense was so good. Hawk’s adaptability to close off areas of the field meant Matthews could literally line up in a track stance and sprint into the backfield. That defense played so aggressively it felt like the Packers were on offense. It’s a team sport, and he was an ultimate team player.
Linebacker going top 5 like him just doesn’t happen anymore. Gotta be a truly special talent. AJ is one of the last of the old guard of football. Zero documented concussions also
I was at Ohio State when it was AJ Hawke, Bobby "The General" Carpenter, and Anthony Schlegal. It was fun to watch them play and put people into the ground. I am so proud AJ Hawke gets to represent that era of Buckeyes every day on the PMS.
Most years your defense was not a priority. AJ held down a crew known for being "bend-but-don't-break" monsters that forced long drives and field goals so Aaron and the boys on offense could build a lead. They still managed to put together some great defenses but it was a lot of just being a hindrance to the opposing offense.
I mean, nice video and nice of you to highlight AJs career, but i felt like the research was very superficial, which was highlighted by leaving out the very unimportant detail that he's the packers all time leading tackler
He was an awful run defender. He was the absolute king of over pursuing and getting cut back on. There are so many film breakdown and gradings of how mid he was as a linebacker overall. He did jump on the pile at the end of the play though. Racked up those "tackles".
@jblou I don't hate him, he was just a replacement level linebacker overall in the NFL. If you look up his run defender stats you would know he couldn't paralyze someone with a gun. He racked up tackles 6 yards past the line of scrimmage. Tackles are a stat that tell you nothing about a players skill.
@@johnfitzgerald8855 lol i don't need to look anything up, you've already replied the same thing to every comment here. I watched him in his prime and he was a stud player that was misused. After his prime, knee injuries turned him into half the player he was. He never lived up to his top 5 pick potential, but the guy was NOT "replacement level" that's ridiculous. You have a vendetta and that's okay
Let's not forget flipping off his side of the field. Saw that live, laughed my @ss off. In all seriousness, the Pack was blessed to have him on the roster.
The fear his opponents would experience was wild. A video was released showing how ferocious and dangerous AJ was, performing side kicks at a rate which had only been seen from the likes of Chuk Norris. This video would make its way around locker rooms in the league, I heard Marshall Faulk cried for nearly an hour after watching the previously mentioned Kicking Hawk. Good vid tho, just surprised you left this fact out.
As a life-long Packers fan, AJ Hawk is one of the all time greatest Packers. You can’t lead the franchise in tackles and not earn that title. While he may not get the league-wide recognition he deserves, we Packers fans definitely know what we had with him. Heck of a career!
Great college football player, drafted really high and looked like he was gonna be a bust, but he hit his prime later than expected and ended up being a solid NFL starter.
The Green Bay Packers are one of the oldest and most historic franchises in the history of the NFL and AJ Hawk, the all-time leading tackler for the Green Bay Packers I would say yes he was a dominant player with an awesome career think about the men that went through that Packers locker room, and he has more tackles than any of them!
As a Packers fan, the thing about Hawk that bothered me was the fact he was the fifth overall pick. Solid career? Yes. Difference maker? No. It might be unfair, but he never lived up to the expectations people had for him.
3:51 “Despite concerns around his size…” He measured 6’ 1” 248lbs at the combine. The average size for LBs is 6’ 2 1/4” and 241lbs. What were the concerns?
@vitaly5887 If you notice in some games you barely heard Clays name and over the years when Clay played hard he always got hurt it seems like every season he was out hurt for part of it
At MIA we produce LB's baby! From the Greatest ever in Ray Lewis to All-Pros-Longtime NFL Starters like Barrow, Beason, Vilma, DJ Williams, Armstead, Rocky Macintosh, Leonard Williams and Ted Hendricks & Denzel Perrymen. Though Hendricks was prob the 1st OLB/EDGE rusher
You got something wrong they had a brief podcast together (Pat and AJ) I think it was less then 25 episodes. It was way before the pandemic it was under the Barstool network this would have been in 2017 I think.
Underrated in media but was average at best player because he was just too slow to cover most backs and traditionally on bad defenses after the superbowl year. A defense that cost them a lot of important games by not being able to stop the run when it mattered.
Honestly, watching him since his rookie year, probably never best then 10th best LB in the NFL any year of his career. Was kind of notorious for letting people gain 3 to 4 yards before he was able to tackle them.
Holy sheeit. I had no idea that was AJ Hawk. I thought just some rando YTer McAfee picked out of hat. I know who Hawk is though, I just did not recognize face.
