Interesting coming back to this after the documentary (The Greatest Night in Pop) . A lot of misconstrued information. Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie came up with the tune together over a matter of a month or so. The Other artists came to record after an award show for overnight recording . So it was a rushed go around and a lot of input from everyone to get it done overnight. As bad as it seems, the footage from the documentary shows that they worked hard to get it going after MJs part. MJ had worked for weeks to get the tune right, whereas everyone else had come in straight from awards show so that there wouldnt be any threats or distractions from fans/non fans. They didn't have any clue what exactly they're individual parts were and how it would harmonize. It's a good documentary, gives a lot of insight into the chaos of getting all of it together. Huey Lewis was so scared getting to his part and finding his harmony in front of all these people. The ladies were octaves above him and he was trying to get through it.

Interesting coming back to this after the documentary (The Greatest Night in Pop) . A lot of misconstrued information. Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie came up with the tune together over a matter of a month or so.
The Other artists came to record after an award show for overnight recording . So it was a rushed go around and a lot of input from everyone to get it done overnight.
As bad as it seems, the footage from the documentary shows that they worked hard to get it going after MJs part.
MJ had worked for weeks to get the tune right, whereas everyone else had come in straight from awards show so that there wouldnt be any threats or distractions from fans/non fans.
They didn't have any clue what exactly they're individual parts were and how it would harmonize.
It's a good documentary, gives a lot of insight into the chaos of getting all of it together.
Huey Lewis was so scared getting to his part and finding his harmony in front of all these people. The ladies were octaves above him and he was trying to get through it.

@@reiders24 I know that. He AND Lionel Ritchie already had it together. I remember it well because I was a senior in high school when We Are the World was released. I also remember how all of the other singers came straight from the awards ceremony to practice, extensively.
