There’s a serious shortage of PROFESSIONAL contractors for sure. That’s what happens when our generation pushes for college and not the trades. You can design things sitting behind a desk but you need to build them.
Sean Kadar That or illegals push you out of the company . I've been doing commercial drywall and framing out in Vegas and every company I've worked for has a bunch of old illegals talking shit and setting you up to fail
These youngsters better build some smart damn robots.
Todays colleges don't train people to design they train them in Marxist BS
YonkersLV702 33 that’s bs, you’re focusing on the wrong thing. Who cares if it’s an illegal immigrant or a born in the USA idiot. An idiot as an idiot. A less than skilled tradesman is a less than skilled tradesman. The issue is with our values or lack thereof. We need to promote the trades and encourage people to master them, then it won’t matter if you have idiot imposters trying to do the work as nobody will settle for them. Hiring an idiot only becomes appealing when there’s not enough selection to choose from, or the person hiring isn’t worth working for to begin with. I live in New Orleans and watched the influx of Mexican labor after Hurricane Katrina, as well as scammers from every part of the USA, at the end of it all, there’s just less tradesmen....in summary, gaining more American tradespeople is the only thing that matters.
Sean Kadar imagine how big of an impact just having shop class back in schools would have....the singular focus on college education has screwed over so many it’s ridiculous
Now if I can just get to to move for me while I take a nap, I will be set
They could do it for drywalling just not in stairs, it's not that hard to brainstorm what would be required of a machine to successfully do the job, but then you'd be putting more people out of a job.
Search "scorpion computer services" pay them $10k and they'll invent a working prototype of this, maybe even solve the stairs problem.
Can't wait for this. I have a torn rotator cuff, torn librium and severe arthritis. No time to fix at this point in my life
I asked my last girlfriend to wear one of these and carry me upstairs for once but she didn’t seem to like the idea
Lmfao @Fee
Antonio Claudio Michael 😅😝
Oh yea i can for sure see myself getting hung on everything i walk by with this thing lol
You’re not alone!!
@@VCGConstruction I think you're crazy if you think this is the next great thing in construction. I would never ask any employee to wear this crap, I wouldn't have anything to do with this thing. Anyone who thinks that exoskeleton is so amazing without any real world use to back any of their claims is just a fool.....
@@okiedokie3845 I'm sure one eye'd Willy said the same thing about Eye Protection or a Face Mask when his grinding wheel shattered.
@ okiedokie Are you still bitching about silica dust recovery or did you get over that already?
@@okiedokie3845 The Real World Testing has been conducted for decades now by people at DARPA, and the U.S. Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force, just to name a few.
I'm not a tradesman and I'm excited about this. I trashed my body pretty badly in the Army. I can also see where this can be used outside of the construction realm.
Same her brother.
Same here, but in the Navy
Hell yeah, the mil will take a government "slave" and work them 16 hours a day and have them broke down by age 30. My second wife was a Marine 10 years, sexy and tuff but they broke her body down in motor-T and later 6132 on V-22s (more so on the Ospreys) and the exceptional hearing damage that came with it.
Same Here Brother
I'm not excited about this. It will be introduced as this miracle body saving device that makes us work till we're 75 with 6 day work weeks 10-12 hrs a day. I'm really good at my job as a framer. Not the best but I'm above the middle of the pack. I can't stand live to work. Never have not as an apprentice, not a journeyman. I work hard I complain but I still get the job done. This will only force us to be at work longer then we must. I even do construction around my place on the weekends but that for me. And I don't think we have enough if our time as is. This sounds like a gift from the heavens but I bet it will be forced on us rather than our choice.
This is stage 1 of replacing human labor with robots.
I don't necessarily see this as a work intil 75, but more as a work until you decide to retire, but have a better quality of life at 65, 70, 75, 80 etc. Just like twisting a bolt or screw with a screw driver, then an electric drill, and now a cordless tool of one sort or another. Less physical labor twisting a screw driver, and more production.
As a DAV/VFW that has been in the trades for a while now, I would definitely welcome something that would allow me to work a day and not have to sit in the truck a few minutes after the tools are loaded and wait for my back or shoulders to settle down a bit before I can drive home. Or be able to lift something without having a pain in my back etc.
I see this as having the ability to assist the wearer in that there will be less days off due to personal injury, as well as speed up production. This is good for not only me/the individual, but also the business as a whole. If I as a contractor/business owner can get the job done faster and move on to the next project sooner and get in two or three more projects in a year, then that adds to the bottom line. I am then able to not only hire more people, but also pay them more money per hour, or better yet, train them and add skills to their tool box and promote them and again, pay them even more money.
I see this as a win/win situation.
@@jmackinjersey1 I'm all for these in your case. i get it if somethings a bit heaver then normal lift. i say throw one on. The point Im trying to say is a think you will start see big land developers making them mandatory to push you to the limits cause they can. all im saying is i want is choice to wear them or not. cause on the flip side is we would become weaker if we used them for ever lift.
@@joeyblackeyez , OK, let me break it down like this, since I was around a few similar products during testing, since I am in the situation I am in, and was in therapy with a neurosurgeon that happened to be part of the development team. They don't take the power away from you, you still supply the energy, so you will not be getting weaker. Most of them are designed primarily to keep you in the proper position, or within your body's alignment parameters. (No over reaching, or lifting in the off kilter position etc.) Think bumpers on a bowling lane. The small amount of lift assist this particular unit, and type of unit applies is just that, minimal, as it is a spring operated device. It is not a crutch, but think of it more like a lever.
Now, there are some units in development that are full length units that the user actually steps in, and has hand held controls, and even a part that goes over your arms, similar to the one on that Alien movie, but not as large and cumbersome. Those are actually powered units, powered/operated/assisted by either hydraulics, electric motors and cables or a combination. Those actually allow the operator to lift well more than the typical human can, and at a repetitive motion for extended periods of time, and will allow one man to do the work of two or more in a single day.
Just think of these as a tool to assist you in your job. Would you want to frame a house with a three ounce finishing hammer with a short handle and small face, or a framing hammer?
Would you want to carry a flat of 5 bricks at a time, all day, or be able to carry a flat of twenty all day assisted, and at the end of the day, not be achy? Oh, and get the job done faster and more efficiently? Same with lumber, or working overhead etc.
@@joeyblackeyez , Also, they contractors aren't going to push you any more than you are willing to be pushed, and this type of device/tool is only going to make your life easier and less painful.
For all of you crying about weight or catching on stuff on the site, these things have been being tested for decades now. They sit at the waistline and transfer the weight to the lower body evenly. The unit itself doesn't weigh all that much to begin with, so it is not any more of a burden than wearing a hard hat or safety glasses. It is tight and compact enough so that you will not be snagging it on anything hanging around any more than you already do. So if you are a clumsy guy, then this is not your problem.
This is designed to assist you like any other tools out there that we currently use. It is designed so that you are not adding stress to your body/joints/muscles in a way that during the day, you can work more productively, at the end of the day are not completely worn out, and at the end of your career, can still get out of bed easier, walk on your own easily and can enjoy your life with the grand kids. Believe me, I've seen my grandfather and older gent's crackle and pop after 30 to 40 years of hard construction life. I'm sure they'd enjoy having a better tool in their lifetime that would have allowed them to have a better life now.
But I know change is hard, heck, look at all of the guys that complained when the power tools came out and the screw driver, crank drill and hand saws were replaced. Then there were the guys that complained about the cordless tools, because the battery added an extra pound.
This is a good thing, heck, this is a great thing. Think about all of the guys like me, DAV/VFW's that can use one of these things, or the newer models that come out in the future, to work all day and not have to rethink about how to live our lives and how to lift an object that once was easy. Or now the guys an get out of the service and get a job in the trades where they couldn't before because of an injury.
I'm all for adding a tool that will assist in production or quality of life. As a business owner, I can see this adding to the productivity and making the jobs move a little faster. That would then allow me to pick up a few more jobs throughout the year and then pay the guys more money or train them how to be better leaders and move up the ladder and pay them even more money than a simple dollar per hour raise.
This is great, and I can't wait for even more, complete suits to come out on the market.
I need bottom half more than top lol👍 great video Vince
As a steel erector it would pretty difficult to wear that. But I see the progression of reducing injuries on the job. I’ve seen too many shoulder injuries ironworking. Well .. they are starting to make connecting structural iron out of a lift a mandatory thing. I wonder if that rig helps with my bench press max ?!🤣
I hit the like button 4 weeks ago and have had nothing but good luck, its completely changed my life and would recommend everyone donit at least once
I can hardly wait for even more authentic robot dancing!
🤣🤣
I hope my union keeps my day at eight hours i can't take anymore.
8 hours? 8 hours? Where is the OT? Typical union mentality, work the bare minimum and expect higher pay rate, and then cry when the non union guys are raking in the bigger pay checks.
@@jmackinjersey1 where i am working at least the union is what is keeping the hours up not down we don't usually get any ot even.
@@ucitymetalhead , Sorry to hear that. The last few jobs I was working on where it was mixed between Union and Non Union workers, the Union guys were rolling up and driving home at 8 hours, on the dot, and never came in on Saturday, or even Sunday. Meanwhile, we were getting in 10 to 12, and if we worked 11 or 12, and didn't have any reportables, got paid for at least 2 more, and Saturdays were OT, and Sundays were all Double Time Pay. But the Union guys still got their production and safety bonuses, even though I saw a couple of them run some equipment into another hard object, the building we were building, or off a steep incline, and well, I'm sure you know that if it was their first incident, and no one was hurt, they'd be back on the site the next day, and if it was a serious incident, they would simply walk off the site right then and there, and go sit in the Hall and wait for another position to open.
@@jmackinjersey1 unfortunately those are the kind of guys that give unions a bad rap.
@@ucitymetalhead I would agree with you, but it was also their union that made them work like that. Plus, I have had too many other situations with unions as a member and not a member.
I bought a exoskeleton 13 months ago it really helps since I have neck and back problems. I can also see it reducing injury’s and helping people both work longer and extend their careers.
Doesn’t seem feasible during the hot summer days when I have all the other safety gear on, does it come with ac so I don’t get dehydrated?
I hope they have integrated tool bags. Seems like it goes around your waist where ur tool belt usually goes
Wow that’s crazy and awesome at the same time. That would be great for hanging drywall.
God I can't wait to hold a full drywall desk to the ceiling with one hand and blast screws with the other
This is just the first. Imagine what is coming in the future.
Oh boy, just put the microchip in my brain already..
Can you skip “leg day” with this upper body exoskeleton?
Ha I know. I was just making a funny. These things are pretty cool. I sold other exoskeletons to one of my customers a few years ago, saved a ton on back injuries.
This exoskeleton would be perfect for Vince when he does his victory dance during tool comparison videos! :P
This is like the beginning of something out of a science fiction novel. This is were it starts, by helping with mobility. Next they'll add a robot arm, cause who doesn't need a third arm. Then eventually you'll climb into a full body suit with several extra arms reaching out of a backpack. Each one able to do the job of any tool you can think of.
I do Property Maintenance so I could definitely use something like that thanks vcg
This is so cool! Now we can all know what’s it’s like to be Matt Damon in Elysium. Except for the part where they take an impact wrench and drive lags into our arms and legs to attach it, thankfully. We got to see you in one Vince testing it out telling us how it works and would love to know how much they cost. 👍
@VCG Construction
May we get links to check out the goods ourselves?
any word on price points and what is the ratio of human normal straight to assisted straight?
I’m so down for this. I would totally try it before I bag it. I’m sure it fits comfortably under a loose hoodie or sweatshirt, and who really cares how you look at work. As a hvac tech and the heavy lifting up and down latters, pulling equipment up to a roof tied to a rope. Cutting hanging pipe over head, especially the heavy stuff in commercial applications. Just carrying boxes of filters around a job site. I want to really know. I always say I want to be able to walk when I’m retired.
How would you wear a toolbelt or suspender like toolbelt?
Seems well intended, but i see more moving parts. I'd love to be assisted, as I'm getting up in years, to do the things when i was 20. However, the biggest problem with the human anatomy with moving, lifting, dropping, and setting objects, is the spine and neck! Sure, this seems to assist with shoulders and elbows, but we need spine and neck support assists! Not to mention, to MANDATE this in hotter temps is just more equipment to wear. Ugh. I'm on the fence on this one. Thanks, Vince and God bless #theverycoolgang! 😁👍✌
How will this work with fall protection harness???
That's pretty wild Vince but I gotta say I want to try it! Its made by hilti it has to be good ;)
I wonder if you could use it going haywire as a defence for battering the apprentice?
Please send an update regarding the lower unit - lumbar/knees/hips. I doubt the VA would spring for it, but I’d figure our a way to get it - due to injuries as a tradesman in the Navy, I’ve already had 8 back surgeries.
Will do my friend, thank you for your service, I’m sorry to hear about your issues.
I work as a dryliner and one of these would definitely help out
I love this tech for ergo and safety, but I think the main purpose of this and other similar devices are to, like you said, extend the work day and extract more productivity out of workers. For that reason, I’m skeptical.
Do you think this would be useful as an auto technician or would it be too large to get in and out of cars ? And how much do they cost if you cups find out thanks
I honestly don’t know, you’d have to implement the EXO in to your system and see how it works for you!
Will it be safe for welders in the pipefitting and structural feilds
Crazy! Kinda like the Jetsons or Terminator 😂 thx for sharing
Good stuff. Especially for us older guys in skilled trades. Anyone questioning these guys know the industry standards and what lasts. Y'all use the best equipment out there and put it thru paces and know what's up on the best gear in the trades, millwright (in my case) work and general construction. Any help in becoming a new "super human" helps, imo... hah!
I can see this as a great tool for healthcare professionals in lifting patients. Especially for Firefighters and EMS professionals.
Dang it Vince. You know how I feel about Robots. lol :). When we all go Full Robot, I want to be Optimus Prime. JS
🤣🤣👍🏻
How do you wear your tool belt with that thing and who is going to bear the cost?
Is this an April fools joke in July? No way this gains traction like you think it will.
Let's pray it don't. More stupid weight to carry around because someone thought it was just the best and unbelievably safer without any real world experience!
I bet your grandfather said the same thing about the power drill that replaced his screw driver and crank drill.
This is a beneficial tool that will help with production and reduce injuries and help you have a better quality of life not only now, but in the future, when you are retired and relaxing at home.
It will also allow you to work faster and get more production done during the day and make more money.
@@jmackinjersey1 not even comparable
@@okiedokie3845 , Of course it is. I explained how it is.
J T I’m actually an industrial fabricator. That contraption wouldn’t hold up to any hot physical environment.
I can’t visualize the railroads investing in something like that for us working out on the tracks for engineering, structures(bridge & building), signal, mechanical, electrical, etc. if it’s going to be mandated by the Federal Railroad Administration and OSHA, then the railroads will have to invest in those for us, I’ll know for sure when I see a general order is out.
How many times have you done sheetrock or plywood And sometimes it seems like when screen off a board you always miss a stud a few times and you're there holding a board above your head and the next move is to go up higher on the ladder and use your head and upper back because your arms are getting so tired and now you're an eight awkward position so it probably will take a few times to get used to wearing but if it helps then I'm all for it
What's the weight capacity? I need one that can do up to around 400lbs and has easily changed batteries so i can use it my entire 12 hour shift. Also can they make it fire resistant?
Back & Knees exoskeleton, Hilti please?
There is something out there for our knees and hamstrings the truth. I'm sorry I can't remember exactly what the name of it was, but I seen it on UA-cam.
Pros, may help with task specific movements over an extended period of time. Cons, probably really expensive and another law forced on people little just trying to make a living as it is. Pros, if I can do 8 hours worth of work in 6 and get home to spend more time with my family it's worth it, because at the end of the day isn't that the whole point.
by what i see it will have to be combined with a tool belt some how, because with my current rig and set up its in the way
I am sort of a tradesmen but after a day of on a roof and climbing on ladders my back, legs and arms are dying. this looks awesome thanks VCG!!but it’s hilt I so it’s expensive. 🤣🤣
If i gives you a better quality of life later, wouldn’t that be worth the investment? Plus you’d offset the costs through insurance possibly!!
VCG Construction Yea It would save money. Catch you on the next one!
Maybe Makita will make one, probably only for Japan though they have way more selection in tools over there they make our new products look decades old.
Realism91 yea
Will definitely help when coring a wall😊👍
I don’t think that they’d start increasing workday length. Overtime and stuff would still exist but the point of this is to improve your productivity for the time that you are working which means your company gets more out of you AND you stay healthier so that you can consistently work. The nice thing about this worker shortage is that the company that hires you is incentivized you keep you healthy. I don’t honestly believe that they all actually care about you personally, but they do care about making money and when you are not working they aren’t making money. This technology is all about improving efficiency so that per hour, your companies investment (your wage) goes further.
Exactly. From a business owners point of view, (and we do care about our employees/contractors) this cuts down on injuries as well as boosts production.
will it help snior citizens to walk/longer distance? climb steps.
Can't wait for them to build something for the lower part of the body I hope they can find a way to help people with loss of limps or loss of ability to use their legs
I am looking forward to this coming out. I want to see it in us see the pros and cons
How is that exo skeleton holding up was thinking about buying it but it's so expensive
Does the company that designed this device have one for the waist down?
Wonder if some gyms would pick this up. Great for elderly or injury rehabilitation🤔
This took at least 8 years to develop. I was looking at the size of it since haven't seen the product yet. In 100 years it will probably be a lot better.
Captain obvious
Evening Vince .
If this can help with my back and shoulder pain then it is worth a lot for me
I need one now lol
We do tree work and lifting fire wood and running a chainsaw can really be straining and that would really help honestly and yeah you'd get caught on stuff that's why they need to figure a way to make it smaller and fit under your shirt
This is good for the older guys like my self , that go to bed after a full day’s work with two different aches and pains to wake up to four or five aching parts🤦🏻🤦🏻
This would be perfect for drywall
Cool Update and informative demonstration video Vince @Vcgconstruction
Ya working on garage doors a lot of overhead work with winding springs and lifting panels can get heavy so I’m excited I would love to know cost and if anyone else has one coming out cause I know hilti can cost
I don't think i would want to be using this as I'm carrying a load that I can only carry with the exosuit and it fails.
Will workers need expected to carry heavier and heavier loads without equipment now? 2 bundles of shingles per trip now.
My arms don’t normally fatigue. More like my back. If I could sit down and do everything I can work forever.
This is basically upper arm supports. It is passive and unpowered. That means that to lower your arms you will encounter resistance, i.e. more effort to lower your arms. There isn't any support of the elbow and I wonder about back support and flexibility. Also how well is this going to work in addition to a tool belt?
I can't believe that's is real..... I love it !!!
I can't wait for a #TTR comparing with and without Augmentation.
That would be fun!! 👍🏻
Gotta make one so we can smash through concrete and would love to give her a try. This is revolutionary!
New TTR robot dance with these. Lol
Sent you a message on Twitter ,new tool site.
Any idea of expected cost?
How much does it cost and where can you get it?
I don't see where there is support for the spin. straps and nylon is not going to cut it.
Long live capitalism! What a great idea! But it needs to be emphasized (and I like that you did) that it's only meant to assist. Lifting good ol fashioned iron is the best way to stave off injury as we age. The squat, deadlift, bench and overhead press will add years to our frame. But I'm definitely interested in this though. Price and ETA? Thanks for all you do!
Thanks James, we’ll get the information to you as soon as it’s available to us!!
time to set lifting world records
🤖👍🧰👍🤖 keep up the great work!
Its also $1,599.99 for the EXO 01 if anyone is wondering.
Many of my friends spent thousands of dollars on Collage and are now in dept and working for me to pay off there dept because the industries they majored in don't pay what they can make with me at entry levels, learn a trade and you will never be out of work if you master it.
I can't see how I could wear that plus a tool belt and be somewhat comfortable...
Pure class Vin
Great video
How much more crap do we have to wear?Let's see, this monstrosity, a harness most of the time,a hardhat. We will weigh an extra 20 lbs when they're done with us.Lucky I'll be retiring before they would pay top dollar for this Hilti device ,and I do love Hilti.,but...just damn!
I sometimes think, the more gear you a required to wear, the more hazardous the situation becomes!!
I totally agree
Harnesses on ladders tied off to mid-air... your thoughts? May as well tie off on the closest "sky-hook" and hope for a steel grip and legit Cialis prescription.
For "older guys" working over head, however, it may help some of us "keep it up". I almost had my nose knocked off my face one day when 150lbs+ 10ft. section of stainless 4" with 18" shower heads on each side every 16" being jnstalled overhead down the length in a 100 ft' autoclave. As the assumed strong large (bout my size plus 20 years older) gentleman lost his grip on the work. (Should we of been using pipe stands during this pipe fitting detail? Yep, were they available? No.) This is where a few extra overhead lifting pounds would of saved a broke nose and broken work.
@@ar-sithf.austin3744 as a pipe welder and fitter for 5 years I'm calling bs on that story. Pipe stands to put piece in air... You obviously don't have a clue what your talking about. And 4in stainless would one weigh more than that and 2 grown men couldn't hold 150lbs lol we throw up 21ft sections on pipe on ladders with 2 guys. Bigger pipe well use chain falls and come alongs and lifts to get pieces in place. Thanks for playing
This is great for the owner but horrible for the worker. There is zero chance any of the increased profits gets passed down the line. God bless and good luck out there gents.
Gonna wait til harbor frieght makes their own exo skilley
Vince can you make an at home dance tutorial dvd or better yet vhs?
Why do I see Milwaukee going “Here, hold my beer, I got this...”
🤣🤣👍🏻
Milwaukee well out do them soon
This is just the beginning. The robots (cyborgs) are coming.
Designed for safety and mobility, until it isnt safe anymore cause it limits mobility. Kinda like a back brace to save your back until the back brace is messing up your back. Required but not required. Only thing that is true fact is that the lack of and soon to get worse of new laborers becoming more then laborers. I learned from the bottom up. I couldnt find an 18 year old kid with the drive i had at 16. Being 44 now in 10 years ill either be in high demand or killing myself to get out same as alot of us.
Do a video on the dewalt roofing nailer cordles put it thru the test
VCG Construction what does VCG stand for ??? The V is for Vince ???
I am curious. We all feel the fatigue but I don't like the idea that there is a solution out there that will say ya push your body beyond when its un necessary.
It’s already used in auto industry.
I'm a electrician and I cary my pouch all day with suspenders how will this Benefit for us who where's pouches all day
These types of exoskeletons are typically used to reduce weight / take the complete weight of tools or carried items from the user to reduce fatigue. The people with the biggest benefit here will be people who use heavy tools or lift heavy weights regularly (no expert but have seen this I use elsewhere for elderly people in similar principles)
I thought he said autobots at first and I was like f***ing F***ing awesome TRANSFORMERS Autobots roll out.
Not sure about all that!!! We’ll see what happens in the near future!! Right now I see it being a hindrance....
I think that this device will put a lot of strain to the lower arm and the wrists. Should better ask a physician (preferably an independent one).
I can see this, do you mean because of the attachment point?

Theirs an anime called Megalo Box. It's basically this but instead of trades, they're using em for boxing.
