      @Victor Barraza that a guy that watchs tool videos on youtube works at a tool store, and will know if the tool store that employees him will be selling the tool? He probably wouldnt just say this for no reason. A week before the bat kit BOGO from milwaukee came out, i knew about it from a regional manager of HD who gave me his personal phone number just because i go to his stores almost daily.

      Batteries are getting better and prices are, or were prior to our current situation with China, coming down. Also, that isn't true when you get into things like lawn mowers and AC power supplies.

      How about an electric lawn mower that is 120VAC and has lasted 20 years before I needed new brushes. Like my lawn is 100minutes to cut it all, then I got to edge it which again may take15 minutes to do. So, how many batteries is that? Battery is rated for cutting for45 minutes. BFD! My Edger and Lawnmower uses the SAME ELECTRICAL CORD...THE PLUG IS UNIVERSAL. I saw the battery CON RIGHT AWAY. "Only fits this brand and no other" If that was applied to computers, then the machines would be sitting on store shelves ROTTING. I don't need that B.S. Fortunately for me, I have figured out how to get more life out of the NiCad 18VDC drills by making a plug in adapter. Not dumb at this end.

    While I realize that this video came out in 2020, it occurs to me that Home Depot dropping product line that's rated number one, is not to separate itself from other retailers. It's to improve their bottom line. It also indicates their total disregard for customer service and customer choice. Customer service is dead in America.

    • @aaavellone

      When it turned into companies forcing their employees to deal with adult babies and this whole "something didn't go your way so you throw a tantrum and treat the people who work their like garbage" situation and it's no wonder that customer service is horrible. Companies let the worst of humanity become part of their business plan even when it puts their low pay employees in an abusive situation. Before I was an electrician I was a musician so I've worked in my share of customer service jobs.

      They've been doing that 4 decades. Same named speciality products & items sold at both with slight differences that R cosmetic disqualifies "our match or beats competition" claims. That shows the box retailers lack of willingness 2 compete with their rivals & it increase their profits. The basic tools R priced the same. Nothing new. EGO suffers from name recognition. Maybe a national advertising campaign & short term large price cut in their product line up 2 would change that. Prove why their the best & give the consumer a test taste. Break even 4 a year or possibly lose money but it would payoff 100Xs more in the long run. That'll get people thinking about them. Plus folks like a good deal & if product holds true 2 it's advertising they'll buy it again. People buy what they think is best & R loyal 2 a brand name. It's the name recognition. But a good deal really helps & I know, its work with B4.

    I couldn't find it anywhere, I went to several locations. I couldn't even find their paddle bits or multi-material bits either.
    The reason why I need this extension, is because the lock release is behind the head, so doesn't go shooting out the moment it catches on something.

Ego built an amazing battery with unbelievable storage, efficiency, and BMS and then they built top quality tools to use with the battery. Amazing brand. This is the only brand that has been able to replace gas with battery. I even run a battery backup for my office off of the Ego system that allows me to keep the office open during a power outage without needing a generator running outside for a lot less cost than a Tesla Powerwall. Lookup the Ego 650cfm 180mph blower and compare it to the market options; especially in run time for the power it offers. Ego is unmatched in performance. For example I had a Milwaukee grass trimmer bought YEARS ago and unfortunately I screwed up and broke it, I went to HD and the only close product they had was a Black&Decker (made in China of course) and it fell apart few months later. As you have noticed Lowes is leaning to Craftsman tools and other products. One reason both Home Depot and Lowes is parting having the same products is price matching. When one of them has a special price on a product the other does not have to price match. Most of the special pricing at Home Depot and more than likely Lowes is special purchase pricing that they don't both do at the same price. Also some of the name brand products is coming from China and is no longer the quality it was, so they can buy the same quality under a different brand to sell at a better price. Believe me Home Depot knows what they are doing and why. Also as you may have noticed you never hear the work sale at Home Depot. It is always special purchase pricing.

      @JamesThompson-ol3eu 4 роки тому

      I got lectured by a Home Depot employee some 15 or 20 years ago about - never having "sales". Never forgot that and to me it is just semantics. I think management did a little too good of a job driving home this point to the employees. If I buy something for a "special" price or a clearance product it is a SALE price to me. I would guess that 75% of all my purchases at the Home Depot over the years were discounted price no matter what the store officially called it. Since they move seasonal products in and out year around there is always some kind of "price" shifting. Christmas "special" pricing. It is a sale to me. When Lowes came to town I moved much of my purchasing to them. Some little things irratated me by HD. But also I have always hated their lighting and color scheme in the stores. Also years ago I would find 5 products (at Lowes) to choose from instead of 2 products over at HD. Now I don't find that so true any more. I live in the country now and don't have a lot of choice so shop more at HD again. Still prefer Lowes. I do love Klein tools and very happy to see HD carrying them.

    As a 37 year painting and powerwashing contractor I was surprised when HD dropped M-1 Housewash from their stores. I told the manager that was the brand that sold out almost every week. She said I know, but there's nothing I can do. Corporate made the decision. Dummies, now I buy it elsewhere.....

    I don't have anything specific to offer but I do have a POV from working in retail hardware and as a licensed plumber. A lot of these resets are due to some companies not wanting to "price engineer" their products to give the retailer a more attractive looking price when some of the quality was left out to get a great looking product for less money. I always bought kitchen and lavy faucets from a plumbing wholesaler , and though I sometimes paid more than the "Big Box Store" price I knew I was installing a superior product.

Crossover items causes losses if they price match if they purchase at a higher price at the retail.ridgid is the HD brand made by milliwakee. As is the Riobe line. Yes they have better margins on their brand but they loose customers to Lowes and Ace who has name brand tools and their own. But the fact keep grabbing better brands.
