late to the party, but does that mean we cant freely rotate it over once we get everything together? since the tensioner is used via oil pressure. ive rotated it and the cams and crank always make there way in time. just want a clarification. because sometimes theres slack at the top and sometimes theres not. thanks

I am hearing a ticking / knocking noise from the timing chain cover area. It sounds almost like frayed serpentine belt hitting something or a playing card hitting a bicycle tire. Could it be related to any timing components? What kind of noise would a faulty timing component make? I thought it could be lifters, but I used a stethoscope and it's clearly louder on the timing cover more so than the middle or driver side of engine and underneath the engine.
I hear it more distinctly at idle, although intermittently off and on. Especially after coming back from a highway drive 30+ mins.

@ mickey$ hey did you find out about the noise in your engine? I have something similar in mine but I don’t know what is causing it.

i tried putting new head gasket in without removing engine.
got it on TDC, chain on, tensioner on, but its hitting something when i try to turn engine to make sure everything stays.
can you only turn with tensioner off or do i got a big problem?
i think i read the chain couldnt fall off the camshaft is that right?

Some where in the video I did mention that the tensioner needed to be released or the chain could jump recheck the chain, crankshaft, and camshafts again valve is probably hitting a piston .
