His music says everything, some musicians get stuck singing about relationships but with Rosenberg you know you're getting a moment by moment look into what it means to live with a song to sing and story to tell.
If you're trying to play it on guitar or something, just put it on high def and look at the chords he is playing, he uses the same finger picking pattern in a lot of his songs such as Patient Love and Feather on the Clyde. He picks thumb/middle/index finger. Use your ear to figure out where on the chord he puts his 3 fingers and when, and look @ the video to see where he periodically alters a finger on the chords for the sake of melody.
The never ending history. A great artist well known for a few people, now it gets massive. Well, I really feel happy for him but is like they took something away from me. I really enjoy more this guy when he was "unknown" rather than now. I just hope the people who listening to him in advance will respect him as an artist.
Really happy this one's coming on the new album as well, this is one of my favorites... I've got the feeling the new album is going to be his best one so far.
+Griever Heart Haha that's a good question. As much as I'm still an enormous Passenger-fan, I think the diversity on Whispers II is a bit limited. All the songs are great on its own, but I think all the songs together on one album is a bit much of the same. Even though there's a normal and an acoustic disc, I think there's not much of a difference between them. But as I said, still a massive Passenger-fan. :) So what do you think? Now I am curious ;)
Doris Hattink Well I think that the best Passenger album is All the little lights. Not becouse of Let Her Go, but becouse it has a very equilibrated rhythm between very deep songs and more relaxed songs. I enjoyed Whispers I a lot, and Whispers II has a lort of deep songs but it tries so hard that doesn't leave space between them. So, for listening one or two its okay, but the whole album feels so heavy. It's my opinion. I like like it though. Sorry if I wrote anything wrong, I'm from Spain x)
+Griever Heart Yeah I agree with you, I think I like All the little lights the best as well. Then again, that's the album he got famous with. But I actually also really like the songs that he made before he got famous with let her go. House on the hill for example, or caravan I even like better than some of the songs he made more recently. If you haven't checked these songs out yet, you really should. It's well worth it! :)
Doris Hattink I have all the albums in my phone, I've listened them all. I liked a lot Divers and Submarines. Fairytales and firesides it's the best so far hahaha
I LOVE how even if there if there is only like 4 people clapping at the end, be they cameramen or passers by how sincere and honest he seems when he thanks them, much love mike and to all who listen to him.
"Well the first time that I saw her Standing in the middle of the road Eyes as bright as christmas lights Wearing someone else's clothes I did my best to ignore her But ignoring my best pretty soon We spent the night all tangled tight In an armchair in my friends front room I said darling you know Darling you know I can't stay Cos i've given my heart and my word to a girl far away I spoke soft and pretended to cough Like I didn't care either way Never knew i could get my heart broken in less than a day Oh and the next time that i saw her Must have been a year or more Face stained with mascara Shivering outside my door I did my best to assure her But assurance isn't easy to give If you've never been sure of anything much And get less so the longer you live She said darling you know Darling you know i can't stay Cos i've given my heart and my word to a boy far away I felt weak as she kissed my cheek And sighed when I heard her say Never knew i could get my heart broken in so many ways Well the last time I saw her Standing in the pouring rain Hair was a little shorter But everything else looked the same I could've told her that I adored her She could've said she felt the same way But we just smiled cos sometimes words Aren't the right words to say We just smiled cos sometimes words Aren't the right words to say."
this utterly live piece is superlative. Like the others of their ilk. Turn down the bass and The Farmyard vid becomes the best of them. see you thur 16 Brisbane.
love this song but didn't he get 'i spoke soft and pretended to cough, like I didn't care either way...' and 'i felt weak as she kissed my cheek, sighed when I heard her say...' the wrong way round? even though it's a great song and I LOVE the guitar tune
He's not just an amazing singer, he's a story-teller. Absolutely love him!
'Sometimes words aren't the right words to say' is one of my favorite quotes.
His music says everything, some musicians get stuck singing about relationships but with Rosenberg you know you're getting a moment by moment look into what it means to live with a song to sing and story to tell.
One of the most genuine, underrated and incredibly talented individuals, out there.
The sound of his voice is Just jarring to my ears sometimes, in an incredibly good way, One of my favorite artists of all time
this song really melts the ice of my heart
Anyone still listening to this gem? :D
I love him. Everything he plays is beautiful! And he's got a crazy sense of humor to boot lol
This reminds me of weekends at Shakuji Park in Japan. Right down to the pond, the ducks, and someone playing folk music for money. :) :) Love it!
Beautiful. Just plain magnificent. 🙂
Such a great song! Awesome guitar playing especially but then again the lyrics are just as great!!
what a beautiful performance. this voice makes everything inside my soul tremble!
It's artists like him who keep folk alive

Welp, 5 years later, and they only knew him as "the guy who sing let her go"
Really happy this one's coming on the new album as well, this is one of my favorites... I've got the feeling the new album is going to be his best one so far.
+Doris Hattink What do you think now? I'm curious :)

Love this one!
"Well the first time that I saw her
Standing in the middle of the road
Eyes as bright as christmas lights
Wearing someone else's clothes
I did my best to ignore her
But ignoring my best pretty soon
We spent the night all tangled tight
In an armchair in my friends front room
I said darling you know
Darling you know I can't stay
Cos i've given my heart
and my word to a girl far away
I spoke soft and pretended to cough
Like I didn't care either way
Never knew i could get my heart broken in less than a day
Oh and the next time that i saw her
Must have been a year or more
Face stained with mascara
Shivering outside my door
I did my best to assure her
But assurance isn't easy to give
If you've never been sure of anything much
And get less so the longer you live
She said darling you know
Darling you know i can't stay
Cos i've given my heart and my word
to a boy far away
I felt weak as she kissed my cheek
And sighed when I heard her say
Never knew i could get my heart broken
in so many ways
Well the last time I saw her
Standing in the pouring rain
Hair was a little shorter
But everything else looked the same
I could've told her that I adored her
She could've said she felt the same way
But we just smiled cos sometimes words
Aren't the right words to say
We just smiled cos sometimes words
Aren't the right words to say."

Passengers should tour with Tallest Man on Earth -- would make an excellent live show!!!!
When I heard “I never knew I could get my heart broken in less than a day”
I just thought, “if anyone could Mike...”
1:46 Neither is Insurance
Anyone know what he says after "you can never be sure of anything much____"
I think it's "You've never been sure of anything much, You get less so the longer you live". Hope that helps!
