Wow that's crazy! On the one hand I'm happy for Bellaboo, I'm glad she's getting good business from that person, but on the other hand it's frustrating because I do see a lot of cute items on her Instagram that I can never find in the shop since they're already sold. I have the same gripes with shops who do the "drop" style of listing and everything gets snatched in seconds. I'm the sort of person who prefers to take time to think about my purchases before making them and it gets annoying when something I wanted is gone before I can buy it. Oh well, I guess it saves me money lol.
Well, now we know the mystery - there's probably a 95% chance all those items you and I both see on IG and then try to find in her shop are going to that one customer lol. It's frustrating sometimes because I miss out on some really cute stuff, but I try to view it like you do - it saves me money :)
I feel the same way about ‘style drops’ I hate them 🤨 it stresses me out to be competing for items when I do need some time to think about my purchases. So I don’t buy from those creators. it looks like I don’t need my business anyways 😂
Extremely wild behavior to buy something that’s marked reserved! But at least you got your stuff in the end so you can laugh about it. I love that jumpsuit! I’m betting Evette would in fact look great in it.
Yeah - I cannot fathom doing that. Like, the shop owner said she'll cancel the order and refund the lady her money. She said she does it "every time" so apparently she buys reserved listings pretty regularly. Why would you do that even after experience has shown you consistently that this plan is NOT going to work?? But as you said, I got my lovely items in the end and the shop owner seems content to roll with it, so all's well :)
The jumper is amazing. It looks professionally made this woman obviously knows her stuff when it comes to sewing we just have to wonder about the bookkeeping.
Again, I don't wonder about her bookkeeping. She is a skilled and prolific sewist who sends out great items in a very timely manner. I hope that my response to your other comment helps clarify the seller's position and approach.

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it (and Bellaboos Closet is a shop I never feel bad about sharing because even though she might not have the exact same items I show in stock, she does *always* have stuff in stock and her work is fantastic!
That happened to me as an etsy shop owner once. (It was for cloth baby toys at the time) Someone bought a reserved listing that wasn't theirs. It was so frustrating! I ended up making a new item for the intended buyer. Now I put a disclaimer on all custom listings in the first sentence of the description.....but it wouldn't really stop someone who doesn't bother to read it! Glad your order all worked out ok! Fun to see so many cute items! I especially love that denim jumper! It's unique and has a lot of personality. :D
I appreciate that she has an approach worked out (relist the same item so the person won't purchase it the second time and then cancel and refund the lady's order.) But if that's what she does, I cannot fathom why the shopper does this REPEATEDLY? Ultimately it didn't hurt me at all, it was just utterly bizarre.

Yeah - I've ordered from her like 4 or 5 times, but that's been over the course of 1-2 years (not from Monday - Friday of one week!) To each their own, but it couldn't be me :)

I unfortunately didn’t see Bella’s messages about the mixup until it was too late and she’d already remade the clothes for you, but everything was eventually sorted out.
Bellaboos is one of my top Etsy shops, and the jeans are truly perfect! Can’t say enough good things about her items or her customer service. 💕

I might have to agree with you. There are other shops I really like, but when you factor in the fact that she always has stuff in stock and she has a good mix of basics/staples and clothing with more personality/statement pieces, it does make her shop stand out.
We started our bait and tackle store as a web-only store back in 2009 and we have lots of interesting stories. :) People do the craziest things and nothing surprises me. I'm so glad you got to keep the jeans. You got some really nice items and your dolls look impeccable as always. :) The new jeans are really cute too! Thanks for sharing!
I bet you *do* have a lot of interesting stories! Grace and I used to have a Harry Potter themed Etsy store years ago and all our stories were good ones - interesting, but mostly lovely!

Oh geez - what a story! What a bummer that the person didn’t respond to Bobbi. Once she made a private listing just for me and thank goodness that buyer didn’t snatch up my stuff!! That was wild, but I bet it’s nice to get another pair of jeans. Also, I have the same crop top from Bellaboos but a different fabric and working on my unboxing video.

Well, the first buyer commented on this video (through tears of laughter) to tell me she just didn't see Bobbi's message initially but she did see it in the end and sent the three items back to Bobbi (and got her jeans). As for the other buyer, no idea who they are (or if they're a viewer lol)

I love Bellaboo! I’ve bought so much and there was a halter top that kept selling out so I messaged her and she said she would make me 2 in the colors I wanted! But I had to be fast to buy them when she posted! She is the best! I knew I recognized those pants! I would post a pic but I don’t know how.

Yes - I was floored when she shared how long she's been sewing and how quickly she is able to complete pieces. And thrilled when she was able to create an outfit I wanted in a different fabric. One of my goals for this year was to spend more supporting independent sewists than shopping directly from AG (no boycott - just wanting to show extra love to all these creative, talented ppl in our community) and she's definitely making that easy.
I was once buying a secondhand doll and she was dollknapped. The person never even noticed the reserved for Ginger and posted pics of her new doll in her review! LOL

I love this video and all the items you purchased (that jumpsuit is awesome)! I’ve also purchased several things from Bellaboos and have been very happy with everything. I can’t believe that someone would buy something reserved for someone else, but I have had something reserved for me on Mercari, and the seller told me to purchase as quickly as possible because she’s had people do that. I got my item without any issues.
So wild that it's apparently a thing that someone would buy a listing reserved for someone else. Like...do they think the seller is going to just go, "Oh, okay. I guess I'll sell it to you instead"? So weird.

I would love to know how you find good Amazon stuff for the dolls. Or where to find shoes, since I seem to have a lot of barefoot girls
The main things I have gotten on Amazon for the dolls' wardrobe have been a multipack of white t-shirts, one of colored t-shirts, and one of shorts.

She really is! And such a PROLIFIC sewist. She was telling me how quickly she is able to make these pieces and I was just floored!
Many years ago, I got two customers' orders mixed up because their names were so similar. After the first customer contacted me, I emailed the second customer. She had no idea I'd sent the wrong things. You'd be amazed at how many people buy something and don't even remember buying it or what it was.
Yeah, that's probably true. Especially when they're in their "Rapid Acquisition Period" of doll collecting! lol
I didn't get anything snatched at an Etsy shop, but something odd that happened was that I was trying to buy a cute candle and wanted to know the difference between scents. The seller was really nice, answered my questions in a timely manner, and offered to custom design a candle. I suggested a design, but they said it was too complicated. That was alright, I went ahead and bought the regular candle. It got refunded. The seller told me they ran out of material. I asked when they would get more. And I never heard from them again.
That *is* weird. People are odd ducks sometimes.

I think ironing and steaming fall into the same category - neither is hard, just a tedious extra step I don't enjoy so sometimes I whine about it lol. Someone reached out to her about the jumpsuit after watching this video and she already had one made up, so they were able to snag one, too :)

@@agtakesover Sorry I admire her stuff from out people who have purchased from her. I have purchase a lot on Ebay and a couple of Etsy sites. I like supporting small businesses but I have had issues with quality control(mainly the finishing on items) on Etsy so I tend to do it only if it is something I really want. Last year she made a knitted sweater I thought was amazing but I knit and talked myself out of ordering.
I did actually receive someone else purchase once but I called they send me a paid label and I returned it. Then they sent me my original order minus the stuffed dog I ordered for my grand daughter and they just shipped me a new one so everything ended well. LOL I guess I did have a story.

Agreed. She's Canadian so I wonder if it works out to a better deal for her with the exchange rate. But also, from what she was telling me, she is a VERY quick and prolific sewist. She used to sew wedding dresses and then switched to doll clothes when her daughter was young.
That is totally wacky. I don’t understand why the seller would even post it. Or if she had made more use yours as the example that makes sense but to put it up there, put a reserve on it and then sell. It sounds a little hanky to me All of a sudden like in the last six months I have seen not a downturn in eBay sales or in Etsy sales but what you get for your money has decreased. And of course the economy has probably hit them just as hard as it hit everybody else I’m gonna do what they can to stay in business. however, when something is set aside for someone else, that should be the way it is and that should be the way it’s honored.
She listed it because she had to. That's how I purchase it. That's how I get a tracking number and it counts as a sale and I'm able to review it, etc. She put "Reserved". When her enthusiastic customer snatched it up, she listed it again so I could get it and THEN she refunded the other person's purchase and canceled their order. I'm not sure what else she could have done and I didn't see anything suspicious abut it. The only inappropriate thing was the customer clicking "BUY" on something they know was not reserved for them.
Nah reserved means RESERVED and it’s already spoken for! The other buyer’s ordered should’ve been canceled regular customer or not. Ugghh it’s so unprofessional.
