the thing i love at this live show is they were all at their peaks skill wise and all their instruments were in tune perfectly it was amazing

I'd say Synyster Gates actually just kept getting better as each album got released. Personally, I think he peaked (skill wise) on The Stage.

This was filmed in 2008 on Avenged Sevenfold's self-titled album tour at Long Beach, California (L.B.C.) for a DVD ... Sadly, it was one of the last tours w/ Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan (drums) - an original member. He died in 2009 from a prescription OD (R.I.P.) at age 28 😪
Avenged Sevenfold recorded their 2010 album 'Nightmare' w/ ex-Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy... and it charted at #1 in the US.
Avenged Sevenfold has a new album in 2023 - 'Life is but a dream'... (#13 in the US, #22 in the UK) and they should be on tour in 2023/ '24.
The current band is the same as this concert (except for the late drummer The Rev): M. Shadows (lead vocals), Zacky Vengeance & Synyster Gates (guitars), Johnny Christ (bass)... current drummer is Brooks Wackerman.
Originally from Orange County, California... Avenged Sevenfold sounded like a cross between metal and hardcore on their first 2 albums - 'Sounding the Seventh trumpet' (2001) and 'Waking the fallen' (2003)... before they signed to a bigger label Warner Bros.
3rd album 'City of evil' (2005) was more streamlined and incorporated more melodic hard rock into their sound and it was a hit, selling gold in the US w/ hits like - 'Bat country'... 'Beast & the harlot' ...'Seize the day'... Their self-titled album in 2007 was a bigger hit (Songs like - 'Afterlife'... 'Almost easy' ... 'Scream'...) and it also pushed sales of 'Waking the fallen' past gold by 2009... They released the live DVD w/ unreleased tracks as 'Live at the LBC' in 2008.
Avenged was working on a new album in 2009 and were set to record it, when the drummer Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan died unexpectedly...
The band was devastated, but opted to record the album 'Nightmare' in 2010 w/ drummer Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater... It sold platinum & the band toured and eventually hired Arin Ilejay (drums)... The next album 'Hail to the king' (2013) was another hit (#1 in the US and UK) and sold platinum again.
In 2016, the band hired drummer Brooks Wackerman to replace Arin Ilejay and recorded 'The Stage'... the songs on it were longer and more epic... it charted #4 in the US, #13 in the UK. Vocalist M. Shadows' vocal problems led to the band canceling tours before the 2020 pandemic hit. Avenged Sevenfold took time off to work on a new record as Shadows recovered.
In 2023, Avenged Sevenfold released 'Life is but a dream' and played their first concerts since 2018 in 5 years.

Jimmy (their original drummer sadly passed in 2009, but Brookes is more than excellent (his dad played for Frank Zappa... and he was the drummer for Bad Religion).
