This is about musicianship not technology. These are men at work on their craft and we got to hear it. The Zep sold 300 million records worldwide and that wasn't luck. Better yet, at 75 years old, Plant is still singing and he sounds just as clear. Amazing.
I’m 63 years old when this song pops up on my playlist the volume must go up full blast. This song was released as as a single in 1969. That was 54 years ago and it’s still one of the greatest songs ever.
i LOVE their live performances! my favorite band of all time, i bought my first car last year on my 19th birthday, a 73 beetle because of their MSG concert. rock n roll forever!
Love it!! Anyone who doesn’t react to Zeppelin the way you did, something is seriously wrong! I love watching people’s first reaction like yours. I’m subscribing
U know what's up man best band ever to walk planet earth led zeppelin the definition of rock and roll every song is different than the other that's what makes led zeppelin greatest band of all time
This song is awesome. I first in love with Led Zeppelin in 1969 & still love them. You should listen to the "Lemon Song, Dazed & Confused, Kashmir," just to name a few. Enjoy the journey.
Back door man is an old blues phrase -- you're banging out some dude's wife or gf -- you hear the crunch of the stones of her man's car pulling in the driveway or you hear the rattle of the front door handle --- and you run out the back door of her house, as to not get caught. You both got what you needed. Over the decades "back door" has been come to mean something different.
One of the many amazing things about them is that they were THE pioneers of the sounds you're hearing. The talent and experimentation with technique and composition had never been seen before. What they were able to do inspired thousands of musicians, and still do to this day! All of us fans love that you appreciate it so much. 😊
The double neck guitar has 12 strings on the top neck and six strings below. Was used to play several Zep songs to a live audience, including Stairway to Heaven, The Song Remains the Same, and Rain Song.
I'm telling you Shon, we had the greatest bands, singers and songs during this time and I'm glad that you found them. Zeppelin has a catalog kinda like Queen, but quite different styles.
Robert the singer sings it all and Jimmy the guitarist joins in for that part this video is made up of a whole bunch of concerts...back door man back in the 70s meant going out the back door when the husband comes in the front door.
Back door man means he wants to be her side guy. Led Zeppelin is a British band so their meanings and sayings are different than ours. My generation had the best Effen music, hands-down this is why us older folks say that today’s music sucks cause today they don’t put in any effort!
The term “back door man” comes from old, black blues. The Brits who did blues, like Zeppelin, used the words of the old blues masters. Their meaning was NOT different from American meaning. Perhaps the meaning has changed over time, but back then, it meant being the lover on the side….going in and out the back door so as not to be seen by the husband. And it meant that on both sides of the pond, as the saying goes.
I'm just happy that you love our music. You can't get mad listening to real music cos it puts off feel good vibrations. Music is made up of frequencies and when those frequencies touch your soul you get chills.
A double neck guitar, each neck is tuned differently so you don't have to change guitars in the middle of a song. They are popular in classic rock. Most rock bands have aeveral guitars on tour and on stage and use each one tuned to key of the song. That double neck guitar was used on Stairway to Heaven because the key and tune changes from soft and low to harhard and high.
This was when bands knew what they were doing. They could sing and play their instruments live without the aid of autotune and earpieces. They were musicians giving us everything they had and we loved it! I still do because this is authentic and passionate music that hits hard. I find a lot of modern music lacks any soul.
Imagine being 13 and hearing this song for the first time? I’m now 62, I’ve seen them twice and you are now “down the Zep rabbit hole” Greatest band EVER! BTW the instrument is the “cowbell”, the double neck guitar is twelve strings on top and six on the bottom!
It always makes me happy when I see younger people who know how to recognize true quality and broaden and deepen their horizons. But when you come across Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and the like, that's when you taste what the cream of musical geniuses are - singers, instrumentalists and songwriters! I'm happy for you too, that you enjoy it so much!
One of my all time favorite bands in the 70s. Another favorite was Aerosmith. Loved their duo with Run DMC. A classic! Love Steven Tyler’s voice. Similar to Robert Plant in the high notes.
YES! The recorder in music class. And that 'wooden fish' w/ the ridges that you would run that wooden rod across the ridges. Elementary school music class was a blast!
Double Whammy Watch! Recorder and double neck guitar in one song! Yes it’s possible! “Stairway to Heaven “ by Led Zeppelin Live at Madison Square Garden in 1973. You’ll have a blast!!!!
There is a mem that has a picture of Robert Plant on stage during a concert with a beer in one hand and his other hand extended out with a live dove sitting on it. The caption reads "No matter how cool you think you are you will never be as cool as Robert Plant on stage with a beer in one hand and a dove in the other!" I was born in 1969 so Led Zeppelin concerts were a little before my time but I did get to go see Robert Plant solo a couple of times and it was awesome!
OK Sir! If this is your first time listening to Led Zeppelin, I HIGHLY suggest you react to "Since I've Been Lovin' You", studio version 🔥Straight up blues!!!
Ok, Shon...first of all, YES! Led Zeppelin is incredible and your journey is deep! Keep going! Have you heard the studio version of "Dazed and Confused" yet? You have to hear that song1 Also, you were freaking out about Jimmy's double-neck guitar? That's awesome. What you gotta see is Rush doing their song called "Xanadu"! You will love it for the guitars and percussion and musicianship and epicness! Rush began as a band right when Led Zeppelin was starting out, in 1968-69. Led Zeppelin was a huge influence on Rush, in the beginning, and then they developed their own style, but in 1974, Rush was a Zeppelin-style band. Really heavy into Hard/Blues Rock and early Metal sounds. Anyway, check out Zep's "Dazed and Confused" and Rush's "Xanadu"!
New sub here from New Zealand. Love your reactions, Shon. Led Zep & Pink Fold are my favourite bands ever, So grateful I grew up with this music, Enjoy! Always best with a doobie & headset.
Thank you for your enthusiasm! Feast your eyes and ears on every second of the following videos... Queen - Freddy Mercury - Live Aid 1985 Metallica - Enter Sandman - Moscow 1991 (I see you have reacted to this! 🔥) You will blow your mind! You’re welcome.
It's really fun to see you younger folks reacting to music that was brand new and exciting when us older people were probably your age! I was 19 when this album was released... and still play it, and many LZ albums, regularly. React to a few more LZ songs, and you'll have a new subscriber... The hand-held drum thing is a tambourine, and they were common in folk and rock bands in that era. If you listen to more Led Zeppelin, you'll learn that the singer, Robert Plant, also plays a mean harmonica! Yes, if you thought this song is all about sex, you are right. The rhythm matches the motion of the act, and the middle section mimics the sounds of the climax. As others have explained, *backdoor man* refers to a lover who sneaks in and out the back door, and has no connection to anal sex.
When I was growing up my dad loved what he called the oldies. We listened to them every weekend while cleaning the house. Zeppelin was a mainstay on those days. I love them now and listen to them on my own. Great reaction!! My favorite song by them is Babe I’m Going to Leave You. But it’s not as popular as Stairway to Heaven which is an amazing song.
Robert plant lead vocals... John Bonham drums... John Paul Jones bass... & The amazing Jimmy Page lead guitar. 😊 THE MIGHTY ZEP----THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER.
Black Dog! it's Excellent! I love watching kids who grew up listening to wrap music hear real rock'n'roll for the first time. Do you feel like you just lost your cherry?
Just found your channel and loved it! Anyway, I came across Summertime, i didn't really catch who it was by, but you really HAVE to check out Janis Joplin, Summertime. Trust me, it's worth it!!
"Backdoor Man". Everyone that's just discovering Zeppelin for the first time always think "Backdoor Man" is what it means NOW. However, back then a "Backdoor Man" was the guy coming in the back door when the main man leaves. Or better yet, runs out the back door when the main man comes home. Sorry, it's not a poop shoot reference but funnily enough all new fans think that's what it means. I always get a kick out of this.
That back door man reference, hahah, I know what you are thinking bro...but that was a term used for the man who is having fun with your wife and when you pull up in the driveway, he is scurrying out the back door. Hahaha
Great reaction! You're too cute and you crack me up. New subscriber. This song came out in 1969 and I wasn't even a year old yet but I also had to play the recorder in grade school. You MUST check out Queen's Bohemian Rapsody, Another One Bites the Dust, We Will Rock You, Somebody to Love (the live in Montreal version) and Black Sabbath's War Pigs, Planet Caravan, N.I.B, The Wizard. Both bands have so many more great songs!!
You have to check out Led Zeppelin Live - "Kashmir". Celebration Day concert in 2007 at the O2 in London. Jason Bonham on drums. Son of the original drummer, John Bonham (Bonzo) who died in 1980. You can't go wrong with this performance. Keep up the great work!!
Jimmy Page played the guitar with a cello bow, most notably on “Dazed and Confused” from their first album. I don’t think he used it on Whole Lotta Love, but I could be wrong. The video clips are compilation and you also see Jimmy with a double-necked guitar having 6 strings and 12 strings. That was not for this song, but was developed for live performances of “Stairway to Heaven” since he switched from one to the other mid-song and having two guitars would’ve been cumbersome.
I've watched lots of reactions to this song and yours's is the best. You really did get this song. Back door man meant something else back then (50 years ago on the UK) - a man who snuck in the back door to be a woman's extra guy. I doubt they would object to the newer meaning though.
Greatest band to ever grace the planet!
I agree!
Stones are my next pick.
I don’t know why other people try.
Pink Floyd
Aye

Welcome to Led Zeppelin!! What a journey you're about to experience!!
I’m 63 years old when this song pops up on my playlist the volume must go up full blast. This song was released as as a single in 1969. That was 54 years ago and it’s still one of the greatest songs ever.
And 54 years later it's still impressive. Now it's rocking another generation.💜
Do more Zeppelin...you will love it all. Do their live performances!!
i LOVE their live performances! my favorite band of all time, i bought my first car last year on my 19th birthday, a 73 beetle because of their MSG concert. rock n roll forever!
Greatest band ever!!!
"he sounds good" Yeah, pretty good. A top five most successful band of all time.
Love it!! Anyone who doesn’t react to Zeppelin the way you did, something is seriously wrong! I love watching people’s first reaction like yours. I’m subscribing
LOL... It was fun seeing you react. Welcome to Zeppelin -- the best of the best.
Back in the day the groups and bands put their heart and soul into their music
Led Zepplin is the name of the band, best band ever !!! I love how you react to us old folks music 🎶 🎵 ❤️
Led Zeppelin is my favorite rock band. Great reaction, as always 😊
I love the drums in this.
U know what's up man best band ever to walk planet earth led zeppelin the definition of rock and roll every song is different than the other that's what makes led zeppelin greatest band of all time
Robert Plantt is the lead singer for the group & he does have a great range.
This song is awesome. I first in love with Led Zeppelin in 1969 & still love them. You should listen to the "Lemon Song, Dazed & Confused, Kashmir," just to name a few. Enjoy the journey.
Best band ever led zeppelin
They were the real deal!
Rock n roll has its roots in rhythm and blues/soul. I am sure you can tell at least by listening to this song.
Back door man is an old blues phrase -- you're banging out some dude's wife or gf -- you hear the crunch of the stones of her man's car pulling in the driveway or you hear the rattle of the front door handle --- and you run out the back door of her house, as to not get caught. Saw them 2 times back then. They are the the best there ever was,

Plant is crazy sexy to me and I'm 67. Wowzer!
It could also mean getting her from behind
Welcome to a whole new world, bro! You will never be the same 😂
Greatest Band to ever exist
Enjoy more of one of the greatest bands ever.
Agreed Shon ‼️‼️💯
No School like the Old School ❣️
I’m 60, and there used to be a program on the radio called “”Head Phones Only”.
Used to get baked and listen to all this sh*t
Welcome to the music of my life ❤❤❤
Jimmy was using a violin bow on his electric guitar to get that crazy sliding sound.

So true. Dopamine in the brain goes berserk with Led Zep.

Backdoor man is a side piece. Sneaks in the backdoor when her main man goes out the front. Term from many old blues songs.
One of my all time favorite bands in the 70s. Another favorite was Aerosmith. Loved their duo with Run DMC. A classic! Love Steven Tyler’s voice. Similar to Robert Plant in the high notes.
Robert Plant (singer) has a vocal range of almost 4 octaves (3.92).
more led, janis joplin, the rolling stones, lynard skinard Now I subscribe
“Back Door Man” isn’t about anal sex. It means a lover on the side who comes in to the house through the back door so the neighbors won’t see.
Love your reactions. You are definitely getting it
YES! The recorder in music class. And that 'wooden fish' w/ the ridges that you would run that wooden rod across the ridges. Elementary school music class was a blast!
