This was a great video. Very easy to understand and see all the parts. I can confidently give this a shot.
Thanks D! It's always nice to have visual and easily understandable directions. See ya on the water!
Hey D-Ray! This video is fantastic! Super easy to follow and you really keep it simple for us knuckle draggers! Keep on keepin' on!
Excellent explanation for us first-timers! Thanks for making these videos!
Thanks D-Ray, You made it look easy, now it's my turn.
Great stuff and thanks D Ray! Couldn't get the job done for 3 weeks at the local shop so with your help we'll be feeding on fish, crabs and beer well before then!
You, sir, are one of the "Good ole boys"! And I mean that with the best of compliments! I'm a DIY and your tutorial vid is, hands-down, the best out there on youtube! Many thanks & props to you for doing boaters like me a huge favor in giving & sharing a great lesson on how to do self maintenance on boats! Peace to you. :)
Thank you for all P.1, P.2 and engine service
Did my F200 water pump last Saturday using your videos. Had one plastic fitting that was worn out (the marina had it) but everything else was just like the video. Thanks!
That water pump looks a lot easier to deal with than the old Mercs. Thanks for the video.
You D man to take the time to help out folks like me with tools and no know-how.
The channel lock deal in the engine brings to mind the 2003 Corvette I bought back in Feb. The right window wasn't working. I got a regulator and motor assy. and when I got the door apart there was a rusted pair of vise grips and an old sock holding the window up!
Awesome video, I watched it every step of the way... Thank you D-Ray!
Best video on replacing a water pump on a Yamaha!
Excellent Video. Thank you D-Ray
you have the best commentary and explanations on your videos. the best ive watched on youtube
Great job. Simple easy to follow instructions. Keep them coming.
These tutorials are soooo helpful! Thank you sooo much.
My confidence with my water pump replacement just went up, big time!
Thanks D-Ray and Merry Christmas.
Thanks I watched bunch of vids before did my Honda yours was most helpful and looked more like mine than some of Honda videos
Great job! Now I'm all set to change my impeller. If I could only find those red-handled pliers I misplaced!
By the way. You did a thorough job. Well done.
Thanks D-Ray youre a great mechanic and a money saver !
I just changed mine without watching this vid and mine would not stay idle. I'm going to redo it tomorrow and put a little of grease on the shaft, input shaft, the impeller housing and all to give it more lubrication to see if it would stay idle. With that being say, it was idling in proper order before I change the water pump. I subscribe to such helpful video, thanks.
Really great video, step by step, perfectly explained!
Thanks for taking the time to make this video!!!!!!!!!
About to go pull the lower unit off an HPDI 300 and checked your vid. Thanks! Very well done.
Great video, nice installation. But that Yamaha wasn’t pissin
Going to tackle this and a full service on my '05 f200. Your videos are excellent, thanks for taking the time making them!
Just subscribed as well.
Cheers from down under!
Thanks, Great video! I appreciate these videos from an experienced mechanic as I try to do this stuff myself.
Good Video. You the man D-Ray
Great Video. Helped me a lot! Just did my water pump on my 2015 Yamaha F200xb.
Lover your videos Thanks D-Ray
You made that look easy. Thanks for making this video.
watching part 1 & 2 gives me the confidence to service the water pump on my Yamaha F200. thx for the great video(s) !!!
Love the video and you did a great job explaining everything, thank you so much!
About to do a water pump replacement on a Yamaha 150. Thanks for the video!
Great video. Very informative.
I'll be doing the water pump on my VZ200 this week.
Thanks for the presentation. Worked well for me. Thumbs up
Concerning the Dirt Dobbers, I have had that issue quite a few times so I started putting a 4 inch plastic tie wrap in the hole before I leave for the week and that works fine to keep em out. The head of the tie wrap is just big enough so it won't go all the way in and if you forget to take it out, the water pressure shoots it right out when you start the engine.
Nice. Thanks. First Yam, I've done pumps on OMC's before. GLAD to see that the shifter mechanism is NOT like on my old Johnson. This looks much easier.
Thank you sir! Did mine looking at this video. Owe you a drink!
Thank you D-Ray .... I'm going for it
nice job, even a cajun could understand it.........awesome!
DRAY is great!! great video, very informative, thanks for making these videos. your awesome dude.
When u drop the Lower Unit scribe the shaft to the top of the water pump housing, makes it much easier getting the spline back in. I use blue rtv on the WP bolt threads, they can't seize. Thanks for the video.
Going to replace mine next week, thanks for the Video
Thank you D-Ray.
thanks buddy I've learned alot from you!! gotta love d-rays shop..
your the man!!! awesome video. explaining everything.. d- ray the GOATTTTT
I appreciate the make up of your video 10 fold!!!!
Nice one. Learned something
D-Ray a quick tip you might want to look over. My mechanic used liquid soap instead of grease to install the impeller in the housing. Thanks for the video, now I can do this my self!
Another problem I can see with using grease is that once it runs up the cooling passages of the motor it will stick to the walls which eventually other debris like sand and salt can get stuck to it. Just a thought. Thanks again!
Thanks, instructions were perfect!
Nice job,I will keep this video for when i need to change it on my F115.
Thanks
D-Ray, great video, I'll save me some dollars on my next pump change.
Thanks, D ray great video.
Those darn mud dobbers would get me every year.
Well done !!!!
i suggest you use a dish soap in the water pump house because the grease is corrosive to the rubber in the impeller. also it would be a good idea to use more grease on the drive shaft splines. never go easy on the grease on splines. cost a whole lot more to replace gears. good luck and have fun boating.
Thank you sir for detailed video!
D-Ray you Rock my friend!!!!
Great vid! About to do mine now
THANK'S FOR RESPONSE,I HAVE TO SAY GOOD VIDEO AND DETAIL'S CHANGING WATER PUMP IMPELLER!!!
Thank you so much for making this video. So helpful, now i can spend that money on bait!
Really great video! I thoroughly enjoyed and was well educated. I completed my very first impeller/water pump replacement by using your video and saved quite a bit of money. only thing I had trouble with was.... I was not able to re-mount the lower unit to the engine for 1 of two or possibly both reasons... reason 1). I did not seat the impeller fully enough causing it to bind and the shaft did not turn at all. reason 2). there is a metal 'cap' gasket that must be fully seated on top of the plastic gasket (which in turn sits on top of 3 metal o rings and finally the impeller). I did not fully seat and the shaft would not turn. Because of either reason 1 or 2 or both, when I tried to push the shaft into the engine mounting hole, i had a 4 inch clearance. I think this was due to the shaft being unable to turn. after I fixed the above, it seated just fine. I ran the motor with the ears on and the water poured out the pee hole like a fountain. again, thank you for such a fantastic video. I enjoyed the video as well as the experience of installing the impeller on my own. I do note that the old impeller was 2 years old and looked like the new impeller so I could've gotten at least 3-4 years out of the old one. any idea on how often to change the impeller? thank you so much for your great video!!
Bob
thanks for the videoit help me a lot since im on my first boat really help
Good job brother !!!!
Fantastic video, it saved me 200 bucks.
Great video, subbed for sure!
Great video. Thanks a lot!
Dude, good video, was pretty helpful!!!!!!
Great video D-Ray, just one criticism though a trap for young players which caught me out.
Got to the boat ramp and launched and had no gears as I didn't realise the housing for the gearbox pin moves around and when I put the lower end back in I missed realigning the gear changer pin. Thanks for the great videos .
Good advice about lookin' under the cowl!! Some mechanic left a screw gun in the engine compartment of my Airplane, I didn't find for a few flights too. That could have spelled Disaster for RoadKing eh!!☺
Nice video makes a change from the 1000's of oil change videos.
Great video..except It seems like you missed several parts and steps. First you didn't reinstall a paper gasket, second the three steel rings; flat swirled and flat rings on top of the pump. and then once the housing is on there is a plastic cap covered by a stainless cap that keep protects the shaft from from moisture and debris. I'm not a mechanic but i am sure that Yamaha had a purpose for all those things.
great vid thanks perfect for doit yourselfers like me keep up the good work saved me 300
Great video, thanks
THANKS From Australia
Ima change mine next, thanks man
Very informativ ,Thanks!
Finished the job today. Works great, hasn't blown up yet. Can you do a video for Yamaha oil change? Thanks again!
Hell yea brother party on!
Nice videos! Good to watch a video where the host doesn’t have the music too loud, and it’s a ‘verbal processor’.
Great video.. Thanks for sharing the information. It sure helped me anticipate what is ahead on this project. I also intend to replace the thermostats in my f250. Have you by any chance created a video of that procedure ?
Thanks again.
very helpful!!!!gotta save all the money i can!!!
Very helpfu!!!thanks
Great video.. thank you
Great Video sir....would the same technic apply to a yamaha 150 two stroke ?
THANK YOU GREAT INFO
Thanks a lot really helped my dad! :):):):)
very good video thank you !
Great video. The lower unit oil needed to be drained and refilled - correct? Thanks again great information
Great video, watched all your outboard service vids saved me heaps on servicing costs, i just noticed you running earmuffs then later you had hose attachment hooked up and water coming out telltale, i cant get water out of mine with the muffs on wonder if this a common thing
With my yamaha 300f xca I have to tape over the lower high speed intake and it spits water
Great video! thanks for the tips. Can you tell me how long this normally takes from beginning to end? Is it worth the $320 the marina charges? Can't imagine why it costs so much when it looks like you did it in under an hour
Great video, thanks heaps, Ps Are all Outboards done the same?
Great Video. Is that the same procedure for a 225, 2004?
I have a 2008 Yamaha Vmax HPDI series 2 250. Would changing my water pump be any different? Great insight keep up the good work.
Great illustration; I have a 04' F225 4 Stroke; I assume the same procedure; I have a gasket in my rebuild kit not just the impeller; do you have to use gasket sealant on the gasket? If so, what kind do you recommend? Thanks again!!!!
Great video on water pump replacement. I was wondering if you had a video on how to fog a Yamaha 225 4 stroke? Thanks very much!
Hey D-Ray my friend did his 200 and it's stuck in reverse. Do you know what he could have done and how to fix it? I have only worked on my Ev-70.
Does the motor have to be in a certain position like drive or reverse when removing or reinstalling the lower unit? I'll be doing this on a 2003 Yamaha 225 Vmax HPDI. Thanks & great video.
thanks for the tip of the cursed dirt dauber
