- Today I'm overseeding my TifTuf Bermuda Couch Golf green with bentgrass so I can keep colour on it during winter. Really excited to see how this turns out! It was a pretty big process.
I also topdressed the green to help retain moisture for the seed.

this guy can tell when his lawn is growing before the lawn itself has any clue its growing
Big facts this guy spends way too much time on cutting his grass
@@madinspired7824 he feeds his grass before he feeds his kids.

I just gotta say, you're getting me interested in a potential hobby. I love mowing my lawn but watching your videos makes me wanna take extra care of them. After mowing my lawn last week, I've been admiring it almost everyday ahaha
Lol, funny enough I'm the same but for me it all started small by just me trying to find out the name/type of the grass in my yard and how to look after it a little to now 5 months later I'm going silly over lawn..
It can become an addiction for sure, especially if you go down the rabbit hole of low real mowing.
Get a life. Y'all so dependant on the government that when your not at work for them, you put your time money and energy into growing grass on your lawn....

So wats ur point.. it's a hobby just like how people build race cars or collect basketball cards but I garantuee that 95% of us are workers who have jobs (b4 covid 19)
Al Credeur I agree completely
Quarantine. 03:25am in West Virginia USA. Watching lawn care because this guy makes it so addicted and satisfying.
Quarantine. 07:23pm in Texas, USA. Watching because I'm bored😂
Chase Williams YEE YEE!
Holy moly, after all that effort to get full Couch coverage. "You're crazy, man! I like you, but you're crazy!"
Can't wait to see the results.
Haha it’s only for winter, the couch will be back in spring 👌🏽
Today I learned about a tournament blade, his teaching never stops. Great video Ben.
I usually watch every vid on the iPad. Watched todays on the TV. WOW! The film quality is fantastic! Looking mint bro 👍
The music in the intro is just awesome man. Really love this style.
I know the video's about lawn care but I'm loving the music choices!! 👍🏾👍🏾
Ben you da man! I don’t think anybody on UA-cam has done this before you. Your way ahead.awesome job. You make me want to try this. I’m looking forward to how it turns out.
It looks like a nice quiet neighborhood 👍
Sitting on the couch with my little boy as he has a feed and he’s watching some tasty lawn vids. Yo mate, that’s what’s up 🤙🏼
Where do you get your music from? Always a great selection 🙏🏼
Awesome Ben.
That landscape blade it awesome.
Never seen one before.
Just discovered your channel. I do grasscutting for a living and it's a bit of a hobby too. Just want to say your lawn looks stunning. Compliments to the hard work and time you must have put in to get it that way.
I will follow your videos for when I plant my grass, greetings from Argentina
I can’t wait to see the results already! 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱
Wow you should be proud. Still think I'd call a professional group as I am so very lazy. I do appreciate seeing the process so I know what to ask for or to at least sound somewhat intelligent during the process. Thank you.
I’m confused. You put bent grass down on the green but plan on killing it next season? Won’t that kill the couch?
The lawn wants to thank you.
Fine work gent... fine work. Well done. Im doing the same thing on a 1acre land... i want A GOLF COURSE.
Do you have a video explaining the names and purpose of each tool? This is really interesting to me but I’m 100% new to this.
@Lawn Tips I have a question. My house is on top of a hill. So, naturally my front yard is a fairly steep hill. I'm guessing, approximately 20-30 degree incline, no joke. I assume I can't use sand as a leveler because the rain will just wash it down the hill and into the street. Do you have any recommendations? Should I use a sand/soil mix? Take care, and stay safe.
Where i live in south australia a local composting company sells a product called "jefferies special soil" its composted materials fined extremly well and designed for lawns
Love these vids. I laid some tiftuff a year ago. It’s going well but it’s uneven - like a few inches out across the breadth of 9 metres. I could top dress it but coming into winter it’s not the right time and secondly, a few inches is quite a lot. Welcome peoples thoughts and recommendations.
So many closed minded people here. Obviously this isn't for everyone, he's taking it to the next level as you would when you elevate a "normal task" to a hobby. And all of you saying just put in an artificial lawn are entitled to your opinion, but I can say I have yet to see an artificial lawn that did not look artificial. Personally I think most artificial turfs are garbage looking compared to the real thing, and are no where close to being as pleasant to walk on or use. Depending on where you live, HOA's in the US won't allow artificial turf in the front as it is ugly.
Very true. I cringe so much when I see people covering huge areas of land with it. I do get it when it’s a tiny out the way space though. Also agree with the hobby thing never understand how people don’t get that sort of thing. I guess some people can’t understand enjoying something that they don’t.
I can tell you worked at a golf course you throw that sand like a pro...like we say at the course its all about the throw nice work
That's gonna look so good.
I can't wait to see how this overseed goes! I'm down in Melbourne and would love to get a topdress done on my tif tuf before the winter but I'm worried I might have left it too late.
Might be a little late for a topdress which is a bummer.
@@LawnTips Thanks for the reply man! It is what it is. I'm already getting super excited for next season. Can't wait to get stuck in to it! Cheers!
Nice one mate and hope your having a good anzac day got a quick mow in today cant do any edges or weed eating bunnings still not open in NZ and wont be for at least 2 more weeks for walk ins👍
@lawntips would you do a bit of a in-depth talk on the pros and cons of a bentgrass green thinking of putting one in my self in the spring in New Zealand
Blake Haines will do for sure 👌🏽 I’ll do it once it comes up 👍🏽
Dude That was another fine video. I already had a passion for grass, but it's only going to get more like that. Already had him overseeded. With a little luck and the nice weather that's coming. It's going to be okay. ☀️🌱
Keep up the good videos
I started watching your videos a couple weeks ago and got all caught up on the lawn reno. Now i feel like im on this journey with you. Keep up the good work man!
I learn something everytime I watch one of your vids.
Any tips to overseed couch with bent without a scarifier?
Any tips for a fairly shaded lawn trying to reseed where its patchy but fighting a losing battle
Good job looks good👍
I am looking forward to the results!
You are the best.
Hey man, great video as always. So if I scalp my lawn to 3/4 of an inch then maintain it at an inch will it green up and thicken after time?
You have the tossing of sand down. Hopefully one day I get the routine and aim as good as you.
Nice blade on that whip snipper
Hey mate I’m up in central Queensland and have just re turfed my back yard with wintergreen couch, when it comes time to over seed my lawn should I use any type of couch seed?
Here in California, I just seeded my 'Couch' as you call it. Hate how long it takes to germinate, always guessing if its going to pop till always finally does!
Usually about 10-12 days man!
Great vid. Can't wait to see how it all turns out!
Bro the lawn looks mint!
I did an over sew Easter weekend on my back lawn, only 700sqm. I just realized I forgot to kick my back leg out when doing the shovel flick to distribute the soil. That would have made all the difference.
Probably the most important step. Amateur mistake
Another great educational vid Ben, It looks crazy to someone like me who has no experience with turf to scalp it like that, I only laid some 2 weeks ago, but looking at your other vids no doubt it will look amazing!
Question: can this be done with sir walter?
Hey man, my kikuyu is currently being mown at 40mm but I’m keen to get it down to 15-20mm. Would you advise scalping it down to just below 15-20mm and then raise it up or just slowly lower HOC over time? Not sure which method is best to get it looking good at 15mm fastest. Loving the videos recently too.
At the start of April I scalped my kikuyu lawn by putting my standard lawn mower at the lowest it will go (number 1) and it really took it back to dirt then I used grub killer for black Beatles and then hit it up with fertilizer.. now 3.5 weeks later it's coming back very well, I also gave it a mow few days ago and went to (number 3) on my mower which seems to be the sweet spot for me coz it's low and still nice and green so I think I'll just keep cutting it at (number 3) height..
Can we get a backyard cricket pitch in summer bro please
This will be exciting! 😬
How to make a perfect lawn more perfect 😝
My friend it seems to me like you don’t like dormant grass. Going all cool season now. Great video
Hahaha, only for winter. The couch will be back in spring
Hi Ben,
What rate (kg/m2) did seed the Perennial Rye in this video? I don't think you mentioned that anywhere
Will grass still grow from seed if surrounding is dormant? Novice here thanks!
So painful watching the scalp. But you gotta do what you gotta do. Can't wait to see results!
Hi mate, what annual lawn seed would you suggest putting down to fill in spots that my buffalo hasnt moved into yet (put cut up slabs in to save on cost) cheers
Will the bent grass crowd out the couch on the green..?
What happened to the “yo mate, what up, welcome to another lawn tip vid”?
ubdkd Had to let him go due to COVID
@@LawnTips Boooooooo
Have you thought of composting your clippings?
Hey Ben, what type of Rye grass did you use? Perennial, Sports turf, a blend?
The cultivar is SR 4660ST. Same as my other lawn 👌🏽
BENTGRASS MY FAVORITE WAIT FOR EH COLOR ITS ONE OF THE NICEST GRASSES AND KEEP IT LOW!!!!!!!!
Good Vid Man... Thanks
Wouldn't using the spreader bar spread the seed all over the place? Why not spreader bar it then throw the seed down and water in that way?
It was only done very lightly if you look closely 👌🏽
hi.. do i need dranige under the soil if i want to use Bent grass?
What boots are those? I like them
What’s the make/model of his orange mower ?
Thanks for another great vid 👌
Do your neighbours ever think OMG he’s mowing again Lol 😂, can’t wait to see the end results, you would have a fit Ben if you saw what I mow in Lol 😂 I know your all about wearing the right gear, But I get out in my “Flip Flops” to mow Lol 😂, I was going to say “Thongs” But I know you have a Lot of USA viewers 🤣😂🤣 and they call them Flip Flops...compared to our Thongs 🤪🤪🤪🤪. Have a Great Weekend
Hahaha they probably do 😂
Don’t worry, I mow without shoes on when the camera is off 😉
Love it
Unreal, love the edits :)
Nice of you to do your neighbors half. Things like that make your yard look. Would defeat the purpose when half would look like crap lol. Nice job.
Love the vids mate keep up the good work. Someone mentioned the music you use before just wondered if you have a playlist I can look at for the artists. Or I’m guessing it’s a top secret lawn tip track list.
Haha it’s not too secret.
I use a non copyright website. Epidemic sound is where I get my music
Is Peat Moss good as a final layer when over-seeding? Our cousins in the USA seem to be very positive about this??
Does anyone know what kind of ryegrass he used ? Looking for some too apply to my Bermuda.
Best lawn care channel on UA-cam. Makes me wanna buy a house just to have a lawn.
v aesthetic vid and lawn , im happie :)
That mower is nice, but those pants, where can I find the pants?
Gonna be one of them old guys that says “ get off my lawn you stinking kids”😂
That green box in the way is so disappointment . Any way it can be punted over the fence ?
I always thought that it damages the grass when you cut that low
Oh yeah boi!
how hot is it there? I was thinking of doing an overseed too but its a bit cooler in nz? otherwise was going to have to wait till spring
Its cooling down.
Why wouldn't you level that tiny portion of lawn to the level of concrete?
aloo la verdad excelente video lo disfrute bastante ansioso de el proximo grabación me retiro les envio besitos gracias
Good edit to lign up drum beat to catcher tap
Haha, glad you picked up on that.
Do you have any tricks to get rid of bent grass in Kentucky bluegrass
ab woodworking Baker ... Tenacity (Mesotrione ).
Spent modt of t9day watching your vids since work has been closed guess who went and purchased seed and sime sand to topdress
Hey mate, what size shed you got there?
thanks mate
Does rye grass spread and overtake the couch..?
Nah, it doesn’t. Wish it did!
@@LawnTips So can i throw some rye grass seed into bare patches on my couch lawn..?
Are you cutting your neighbors lawn too??
Keep up the great Vids
Love the video brave
Whats the story with bent grass Ben? Not happy with the couch?
Bentgrass is winter grass so it will grow and stay green and in spring I guess He will use couch again for summer..
Yep! Just oversowing for winter. The couch will be brown in a few weeks. Gets very cold here in winter
@@LawnTips ahh fair enough! Im from the west so im not used to that sort of cold! Ha ha
please make a long grass seqtion
where did you get that core aerator?
Why don’t you let your grass grow? And why do you cut it so short to the point it kills the grass?
He's reseeding a putting green so it has to be super short. That's why he has longer grass on the outside to make the fringe, and the shorter grass on the inside for the green.
So many machines
What do you do in the off season
Not really an off season here. The grass keeps growing 👌🏽
What work boots are those?
These are Hard Yakka boots
@@LawnTips Thanks! Love the vids!
