So happy I can stream with my wife's camera. I haven't really started streaming as I'm trying to get all my eggs in one basket. It's going to be so awesome though. She has a Canon Rebel T6i and the image quality of her pictures is just superb and that's not me being biased. Thank you for the info and the great videos. I really appreciate it.
I just jumped into the dslr game completely blind and stumbled across Harris’s channel. And man does this dude just nail every question that pops in my mind.
Pawn shops are your friend. Also, Canon T2i using usb cable and stock lens does amazing for streaming thanks to Canon's software. So my current setup cost $125 for the camera body, $50 for lens (again pawn shops), usb cables I had in spades so, like $5 new, and a $15 AC kit from amazon. You plug your camera to your computer, turn it on, Canon software pops up (might need to download it from them first) and then you do a "live view" from the software. Add as a source to your streaming software and crop accordingly. If you already have a camera, look into whether it can be directly hooked up to your computer in a similar way. Almost EVERY Canon rebel series camera uses this function
Kind of came here by accident, didn't learn anything new, but I still ended up watching it all the way through because your explanations are seriously good!
i spend all night and finally manage to make my camera works using hdmi output and video capture. i'm so happy my 120 € kiyo webcam was labelled "streaming" but quality was close to shit. just decent enough for skype or zoom. it's day and night. never waste 120 € in thoses. professionnal reflex are not "fancy" there are necessary if you want more than 3 viewers.
*You can spare a great sum of money, if you purchase a Canon SL2 with a kit lens for streaming. For Vlogging, SL2 with a 10-16 is fine. For recording videos, SL2 with a 50mm F 1.8 + 24mm F2.8 + kit lens is just fine. If you want to beake the barrel, a Canon 5D Mark IV + 24-70 L F 2.8.*
Really looking forward to checking out the stream tonight! And laughing at myself because it directly adheres to your new video about growing your Twitch viewership via UA-cam content.
*Video Idea:* So I purchased a Cannon EOS SL2 and the sound needs to be delayed to match up with the camera. My issue is this time changes every time I turn off the camera or reboot the computer. Any tips to sync this up? I use SLOBS and just add a delay but I don't want to have to do this each time.
I use the Panasonic G9 because i already got one for photography + videography and i ticks all the boxes for streaming aswell. Clean Hdmi out (no micro or mini, real hdmi) and it doesn't shut off. It's mft but with the right lens you can 100% use it. I use the 12-60 2.8-4 for wide angle and the 16mm 1.4 for a little closer look (32 mm fullframe equivalent).
I think you said it best in your intro, "when you're ready." I would hate for someone in my financial situation to put off paying rent to buy "want" items as opposed to "need" items. Thinking of being the poor man's Harris Heller myself.
There are some cheap CCTV C-type mount lenses that are actually pretty good and cheap, i ordered one for my Lumix G7 and takes great footage with even somewhat of low light, they are called "Fujian C mount lens" on aliexpress, they are prime lens and there are 25, 35 and 50mm.
I find the Pansonic G7 + Sigma 16mm f1.4 or Panasonic 25mm f1.7 to be one of the best options for entering this type of real camera as your webcam setup.
Looking forward to part 2. I'm having issues with camera mounting, as I don't have space for a tripod behind desk, looking to wall mount. Sony A7rii. May be worth mentioning the minimum focus distance on lenses. Especially for smaller rooms. Love your content, keep it up!
@@jebediah8504 it does yes, however the pixel density on the R series is WORSE for this performance over the S series. Good work! Just curious why the Canon XC10 & XC15 are not mentioned. It's not on the Elgato camera list either.... The cameras are great and meet all the criteria and have excellent audio capability as well.
For anyone that may not know, Sony has their Image Edge software so you can connect your camera straight to the computer as long as you have a SD XC type SD and it is at least 64gb. If you buy the a5100 that is, or you just have a Sony camera. :) Take the money you would have spent on a capture card and upgrade your content just that much more. You can thank me later :)

Use as low apature number as possible for your lens.(Around f/2.8 is good and 1.8 Is better. If your lens doesn't support this, it might be worth buying one that does. This will A: give a more blurry background so it looks expensive and B: let's more light in.) Then set your shutter speed to as close to double your frame rate (24p is 48, 30p is 60 & 60p is 120).
