- A day of digging at Hampton Butte. This is part of an amazing 3-state rockhounding trip I was able to take "summer" 2022.

Once a year several rock clubs get together and fill in holes and restore the natural beauty of this area so that it can continue to be enjoyed by rock hounds. A good way to get a site to be off limits to digging is to not backfill your homes and leave a bunch of trash around. BLM can decide to shut down sites so everyone needs to be sure to clean up their mess and leave no trace.

Hampton butte is so beautiful. The begining of june this year was not not warm like it usually us. The whole area has gorgeous pet wood and is known for the green pet woods. The awesome pieces of green you found were really nice. OMG it started snowing on you! Im so sorry! This year has been weird. Man those are gorgeous pieces you are pulling out. People dig for hours and never find the green pieces you've found! Wow that last piece is gorgeous! The pieces you cut are beautiful. The green is exquisite!. So beautiful. You got a lot of material so you will have lots left to do something with. You got so much green! So beautiful.
Now, if I get back again in the coming years, I'm going to expect the same weather.
@@ocklawahaboyrocks The weather has been so weird lately, for the last 5 years its been extreme, so i cant make any promises! It may be 5 feet of snow or 110° who knows! Nothing is normal anymore!
That place has pretty sweet material! We got snowed on in Montana on that day as well, was crazy man!
