Petrified wood is just the coolest stuff! And to think it's a fossil of a very ancient tree makes it even more so. Thanks for showing these great cuts.
The yellow wood...I'm not sure where's it's from. I have a lot of it and it's just beautiful stuff. Takes a wonderful polish too!
The mystery wood also can have flecks of pyrite in it.

Where is Hampton Butte located? Is it in Oregon? I'm curious as my husband and I are looking for places we can go rockhounding at that are kind of close to where we're at in Spokane now that we're retired.
Yes it can be found in Oregon. You should check out the UA-cam Channel @Currentlyrockhounding. He lives near or in Spokane and goes on many local rockhounding trips and shares locations. He would be a good resource for you.
