Shame on Starmer, shame on Labour. I'm voting Green.
Yes, vote for a fantasy.
@@RobinHarris-nf4yv The biggest fantasy is the notion that Starmer's Labour will be an improvement on the last 14 years of Tory rule.
Yeah, right.
Coz a vote for a two-faced, compulsive liar is a vote for reality, winner.
The Tories have a +30% majority in my constituent... With Labour and LibDems joint second place... So I have NO choice, but to help overturn this majority by tactically voting Labour!
If I had my way... I would vote Green... But getting rid of the Tories takes priority! My area is quite White and Posh too, with some deprived areas dotted here and there, so I suspect Reform might also eat quite deep into the disaffected Tory vote.
Nonetheless, I ain't taking ANY chances! I want the Tories out!!!
One "good" thing I suppose, about the Greens... Is that Time is on their side! Because as the world's ecology gets worse, voting for them makes more and more logical sense... So assuming we're still here in 5 years time, they'll have my vote!!! 👍🏼
Vote reform vet proportional representation then vote green!
When you hear that we need austerity it means tax the poor, free the rich even more
People must by now be able to see through Starmer. He has shown himself to be a liar and weak.
He has shown himself to be neither a liar nor weak.
You are just because Corbyn sold a fantasy that the public would never vote into power, whereas Starmer has sold a reality and is going win power.
Unfortunately not. People will defend a lie much stronger than they will defend the truth. Those more aligned with Corbyn would turn on him quicker than Starmer. That's just life. If Labour are going to be just like the Tories, I'd rather vote Tory than endorse that.
The Starmer vendetta on Corbyn, get Starmer out now abhorrent vulture
I did cancel my labour membership membership, can't be doing with Starmers ego , nasty, a nobody trying to ve somebody, Starmers jealousy of Corbyn is ridiculous, walk away Starmer
During my pre-1979 teens, I lived in a small largely working class town, where local parks were fully staffed, the council bus services ran all over the borough from 6am until midnight, numerous public toilets were freely available, the public libraries were fully stocked and fully staffed, all major services were provided efficiently via the council - and advertised across several pages of the telephone directory - schools were well maintained, drinking and ornamental fountains operated daily, decorative floral displays adorned every traffic roundabout, police stations were more than an intercom box on the abandoned station wall, and I was able to enter higher education with a fully funded grant which I was never expected to repay. All of these things were made available in those citizen-not-customer based times, when the country was still recovering from a ruinous world war combined with the economic oil shocks of the early 1970s. And then the neo-liberals arrived on the scene, and told us how they could make things so much better. By apparently indulging in massive asset sales, privatisation schemes, and generally funneling the common wealth into the pockets of private service providers and the rich. Starmer is just the latest incarnation of that continuing ideology. Vote Green or sensible independent.
PC are my chosen option
Very well said.
That sounds very much like my childhood in the 60s/70s in my working class town. Nobody had any money but things were freely available, and of course I went to university free in 1979, which is more than can be said for my three children.
Well said 👏
If you want to send the Labour party a message vote for a third party vote for one of the smaller parties vote liberal democrat vote green vote workers party vote independent
Vote reform
@@trident8480 Farage has publicly labelled himself a Thatcherite. No one from the left that knows about Thatcher should vote for him or Reform knowing that.
No way should people vote,Lib Dems, they jumped into bed with the tories and are a big reason why the country is in the mess it is,anyone but them and the uniparty.
Yes exactly 💯
It's time for people to quit their labour membership
I’m hanging on to mine, waiting for the vote to get him out.
There have been at least 50 times people should have cancelled their membership in disgust since Starmer took over. There's nothing pro-labour about him. There's nothing socialist about him and he's already made abundantly clear that he is an untrustworthy, backstabbing, right-winger pretending to be centrist for power. And this is him in "telling us what we want to hear" election mode. If this is him sucking up to us then imagine what he's going to do when the mask comes off.
@@colinthackwell3227 You'll be paying your membership fees for a long time until then. They've also changed the leadership election rules so it's pretty much impossible for anyone from the left to even reach the membership vote.
I quit the minute Corbyn lost the whip - part of me regrets it and feels like it might be worth sticking around, but I'd rather focus on supporting the Green party now that Labour have made it clear they don't tolerate any dissent
No, STAY and boot him out!
The green party is the most honest party in British politics
It's argueably easier to be honest when you got nothing to lose.
@daysofend tried and semi true response. Australia has very similar problems and greens, independents won more seats at the last election.
Many people get it : Starmer and Sunak are members of the uniparty.
Keir starmer is two right wing and two moderate for my liking I prefer party more radical that's why I quit my labour membership and joined the green party instead
I want radical socialist policies like the 1945 labour manifesto all the 1964 manifesto
Lord, that interview with the old lady.
That must be so painful, I'm so sorry Moya
I am glad at least that lady isn't voting.
That old lady was awful, I'm amazed Moya stayed as calm as she did.
Not raise VAT? After happiliy supporting Brexit, he should be cutting it! Why the hell in Britain are we always broke?? On the flip side, there’s more than enough money to support wars around the world and remain subordinated to the US for time immemorial at the detriment of the country and people. Doctor’s failing to get jobs because of lowest cost denominator policies - such as employing less qualified physician associates. Depressing.
Agreed. VAT is a bad tax - it raises inflation and acts as a disincentive to commercial activity.
Protest voting is important in a democracy
That's why I'm voting Tory.
@@clivet3252 😂 vote reform tory is voting labour by the back door.
Absolutely. Starmer and his pals have offered me no persuasion for me to vote for them.
At least Sir Starmer had water, food, medicine, and fuel when he was a little hatchling , all the things he seeks to deny Gazan children.
No he doesn’t.
Be realistic
@@RobinHarris-nf4yv Despite the fact that he said those very words.
Israel has that right…
@@kennethmarshall306 Thank you, the Blairite Tory monster's exact words.
Maybe it's just me. But not only does the man bore me witless, I actually think he's a liar. Not easy to justify - 'cause he never actually offers any real indication of what he stands for. But it is a worry when the man repeats that if he can't deliver what he says / promises, then he'll be honest and tell the public. Sounds like he is preparing us for the 5th. July when he apologizes for having to increase personal tax, national insurance and VAT. We'll see.
Labour have access to the books. they cannot get into power and suggest that things are worse than they thought. They know exactly where the country's finances are! Yet they offer nothing new.
He is an empty vessel. He stands for nothing.
@@tancreddehauteville764 I suppose if you make no effort to read the manifesto or listen to what he says you think he stands for nothing. Or is it just that he doesn't stand for the same Corbyn fantasy land unelectable policies?
OH god... "we dont have a magic wand"... Starmer is in fact Teresa May. Magic money tree. Magic money tree. Magic money tree
Strong and forensictable
I'm voting green party I don't know why people are still supporting labour they've broken all their promises
Reform will give you a chance get proportional representation!
@@user-wj7cv9hb5j They will also erode workers rights, deregulate the banks, and demand lower taxes for billionaires. Farage is backed by Steve Bannon, and other dubious billionaires. They want their cut. Corruption with Reform would make the tories look clean.
Me too.
A return to neoliberal orthodoxy, no change except no tory psychodramas
This is basically a Cameron/Osborne manifesto
Pledges? He has broken so many.
Starmer could give Boris a lesson in lying, and that takes some doing.
Where are they going to get all their police, doctors, nurses, dentists & teachers from?
It used to be Europe
Centrist la-la land.
Don't you know they come daily on boats wanting to pay tax and are all highly skilled, strange they have left their wives and children to help the UK but it is so kind of these young men to help our country.

Only a democratic socialist party would be concerned.
You have to win power to make a difference.
Starmer has found the way to win power
@@RobinHarris-nf4yv And won't make a difference.
@@Pfth these policies say otherwise
Collective wage bargaining
End zero hour contracts
End fire rehire
Repeal anti union laws
Rebuild relationship with EU
More power to regions
Reform HoL
Nationalise railway operators
State owned British energy
More teachers
Mortgage guarantee for 1st time buyers
Increase childcare subsidies
End non doms
Green new deal
Parliament reforms
Ditch Rwanda
Stay in ECHR
If you compare that with Conservatives, yes it does make a difference
@@RobinHarris-nf4yv It does? Ongoing austerity? No wealth redistribution? No lowering of VAT? No helping small businesses? No maximum pay ratio? Growth for the few? Or how about Labour's ditching of the £28bn green investment pledge? No nationalisation of mail and water? No scrapping of the two-child benefit cap? No scrapping of Universal Credit? No restrictions on the arms trade? No demand for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza? No commitment to hold Israel to account for war crimes and violations of international law? No end to military interventions in foreign countries? And you mentioned the EU, but Starmer is opposed to freedom of movement and has ruled out any return to the single market or customs union. Don't kid yourself that he's going to rebuild relations with the EU. All of the things you've listed are entirely superficial. And you can guarantee Starmer will break every single one of these pledges when he's in government in just the same way that he's broken every single pledge that he's made since 2017. His Tory-lite manifesto won't make a shred of difference to the lives of working people. It's just more of the same old same old.
Its like a bad nightmare. How can it be that the UK could possibly endorse Starma as an actual P.M? There is literally nothing about him that is honest, wanted or true.
6,500 new teachers is peanuts
Better than none I suppose
Fewer than those leaving, I'd guess
@@trulymental7651 I live in Italy, and the government is employing 70,000 new teachers in the next three years as part of the European recovery plan. the procedure to hire 30,000 of those teachers has already started.

This time they have made it virtually impossible to recover.
I hope your government does what it says , I am so tired of politicians.

@@trulymental7651 I understand your hopelessness and wholeheartedly sympathise with you. we're still enjoying some of the (very few) benefits of being in the EU but apart from that, Italy and the UK have quite a few things in common when it comes to the economy. British wages are stagnant, Italian wages have been decreasing... however, mainstream politicians are only in it for themselves, if we want to see change we'll have to make it happen. cheers
He had the opportunity to be bold with his manifesto, he chose to be a poor man’s David Cameron.
Starmer’s party, whatever the hell it is, can rely on the Conservatives to get his votes because he can cram mine where the sun doesn’t shine.
Starmer talking about growth is rubbish. It's not working. We need degrowth. We need universal public services. We need work for everybody. We need healthy people. That's wealth creation. Healthy, employed, happy people.
Wish we could hear more acknowledgement of this!!
Starter didn't even have Freeview
59:25 '...[it's] not just you, it's everybody else [but yes you!]...' It always amazes me how pretzel shaped people can become, trying to justify xenophobic impulses that on a fundamental level they know are wrong, and make then feel awkward but can't let go of. The siren call of an easy, reactionary solution to society's problems, with easily identifiable villains, scapegoats and that also exorcises personal discomfit at people that are different to them can be very strong.

The policies of Attlee improved peoples lives in so many ways. The policies of Thatcher, Blair, Brown, Cameron and Johnson delivered war, talk of war, student debt and the impoverishment of the majority of the workers.
Starmer needs to break the mould of economic and social decline of the UK.
A lot of talk about growth from Starmer, but there is no detail about how he's going to get the growth... empty promises.
Growth doesn't come from higher tax of workers.
It's all hot air and gravy

As a father of three, my main interest is what any of the parties are offering to young people. Sadly I don't see anything. Please don't mention what was done to young people during covid, it makes me too angry.
The first thing labor needs to do after they win is to replace this prime minister
You don’t even need to borrow to invest. We can simply put ourselves to work and then print the money to reward us for the extra wealth we created. What we need is control of the means of production.
😂 that's called unfunded spending, exactly what labour are doing with 20 billion. Remember how labour says liz trashed the economy? That was supposed to be unfunded *(it actually wasn't it was the same plan as you just said!) Good job you arnt allowed to vote I guess hey 😂😂😂 😮😮😮 😢😢😢😢
@@user-wj7cv9hb5j you are confusing money with wealth. Money is not wealth. Wealth is people making the goods and delivering the services that we need and want.
The UK is falling behind Europe following Brexit. Mr Starmer needs to return the UK towards the economic and social standards which existed when it was in the EU.
How muted was the applause during Starmer’s speech?
The excitement can’t even be contained within his own party.

It interesting that Starmer is returning to George Osborne''s austerity. He should be qustioning the reasons for austerity. Why should the Labour party follow the discredited Thatcher and Osborne policies? Other better altermatives are available. He should speak to Richard Murphy to see what can be achieved in improving all peoples lives, without further damaging the environment.

People voting for austerity...what a surprise 😂😂
The UK needs desperate regeneration we need to get rid of no fault evictions stop NHS privatisation Perth more money back into public services stop bashing refugees the green party is the only party delivering on the things voters want
Can he stop the stripes in the sky or the pointless wars we are involved in. Where is the money coming from , is he going to tax Sunak.
Wow that interview with the old lady made my jaw drop. Powerful Moya.x
Great episode - watching Lab manifesto & past yrs has been like watching a slow motion car crash for non UK progressives. Disgusting & disturbing.
Addressing growth without addressing distribution is pointless. I think he will allow councils to raise council tax to fund local growth, using councils as shield for his decisions. I want the tories out, but our archaic system neans that I can't vote for the Green party in my area, which is what I would like to do. Starmer is not offering anything new.
I would bet there will be a lot of local independents gaining seats in this election. It's a cop out to not repeal horrible Tory policies. Labour are moving to the right. Good luck, Britain ❤
The sun daily mail and the times are giving money to the Labour party
He’s not going to be able to generate growth in 6 months or probably even in two years. So either he’s implementing austerity or putting up taxes. There is no third way
He doesn't have a wand but a big axe.
great short essay on the capture by the political class Helena
Years ago, I went to live in the Fenlands. I was white, born in Manchester. I was referred to "a foreigner like yourself wouldn't understand ...".
I'm hoping that Labour form their super majority with fewer votes than 2019.
Moya is class, she handled that conversation perfectly x
I was brought up living in a well designed prefabricated two-story council. The technology of construction has advanced immensely in the intervening years, so the politician should be able to allocate the funds to build the same designs with better materials.
Starmer needs to have a policy of council house building. The post war housing programme of the Labour and Tory Governments was very impressive and needs to be repeated.
Really interesting conversation from Helena and Moya. Thanks for making these facts available to us.
I will not vote for this oarasite
3:18 approx: "I make no apologies for rolling out tax rises on working people" - Kier Starmer.
GREAT TO LISTEN TO BOTH! THANX .Also that old lady is what I encountered most when I lived in the UK many years ago, so yes, there are many people that think like her and that’s why the worst politics approved BREXIT..
What a drip- don't believe anything they say
Particularly telling was how Angela Rayner totally dodged (and was allowed to) the question from Carla Denyer on why Labour were being so timid, so lacking in boldness when it comes taxing OBSCENE WEALTH.
If the GREENS were a little more credible they’d likley get my vote but I’m afraid they still appear a little too “Sixth Form” in presentation. I like Carla but I’m not sure she’s the best they’ve got when it comes to speaking/making their point.

This reminds me of the 1997 labour manifesto
Kinder, but no real change......they need to tax the rich and reverse brexit. They won't talk about either.....its the only things that will turn around services and the economy
During the 2019 run up to the GE under Corbyn it was shown the EU referendum Leave vote had won by a majority and Labour was campaigning for 'leaving EU with a good deal' to keep their own voters when out of the blue, close to the election date a second referendum was proposed by those in Labour. That was the undoing and I understand it was from Starmer's office it was initiated. The rest is an awful outcome.
Did not expect the old lady to come out with that... 😳
Starmer should only be supported if he can deliver a better life for the ordinary citizens. Enriching the already wealthy is not difficult.
Rachel Reeves doesn't want to scare the horses. However, she needs to deliver the 50 hospitals needed and a happy staff to operate them for the patients.
When are we getting the Pitchforks out?
Thankyou for exposing these new labour candidates
What a crossover episode, dream team indeed! Getting my notepad out for the economic truth bombs
Looks like my grandaughters getting an android this year!
Return to austerity? Had it ever stopped??
We must move forward not backward, upward not forward and always twirling, twirling towards freedom!
As Malcolm Tucker would say, Starmer has the charm of a rotting teddy bear next to a grave.
Labour is not a democratic party. The majority of members want real socialism - IGNORED, the majority of members want a return to at least the Single Market - IGNORED, the majority of members want PR to replace FPTP as the voting system - IGNORED.
