Penny Mordaunt: "The tax burden on those of low and middle incomes is the lowest since 1975."
My experience is the absolute opposite.
same! im getting more tax not less.
Exactly
My friend owns an HR company that focuses on retail recruitment and a friend of his runs HR that focuses on health care, he has been snatching people from NHS and negotiating better pay for them within NHS on exactly the same positions and making a fortune in last 5-10 years. And when I say fortune I mean that he became a multi-millionaire. And government has enabled this and no one talks about this. Money from NHS is being stolen in millions and billions. R.I.P. UK. Tax the rich and corporations to the max prohibit such practice within public sectors or you will all be so poor that you can not even imagine within a decade.
P.S. when I say multi millionaire I mean worth north of 100 millions not 4-5 million.
Bump
This! I think when people imagine privatisation they think of paying upfront for healthcare...but in the UK's case the far more efficient way for private interests to make money is to just siphon public money by filling the void that has been deliberately created by underfunding the NHS.
you should report this to your local mp and the tweet about it attaching mp's and news. Lastly send an email with this exact practice to the nhs and the health minister and cc all major news agents. Watch massive change happen over night!
@@real_wakawaka No one gives a shxt they are just all happy to have nice fancy dinners in London and get drunk on someone else's tab, investigative journalists like Novara Media should take this upon dig deep into it and make proper exposure, to public on the mainstream media shows where they get invited frequently! But law is broken and in the end there is nothing that can be done about it because it was all legal. This type of stuff is common practice all over the board. Law is there to protect the super wealthy and abuse the poor that can't afford the top lawyers.
P.S. I am not eligible to vote so MP wouldn't even talk to me because I am EU citizen and I never bothered to get UK citizenship once I saw what the situation is and it broke my heart I really loved UK, instead I fuxked off to Canary Islands. I only got some bogus settlement status. But I still follow politics closely as I have made friends for life while spending 6years in London.
@@real_wakawaka tried to reply but they censored me LOL, so will leave this to NM and let them investigate as proper journalists.
Angela Rayner was ineffective, she is a poor debater.
Yeah, I'm puzzled over why they chose her.
She's only ineffective because every time she speaks , the mad Tory woman Mordaunt shouts her down . The interviewer should be telling her to shut her mouth whilst someone else is making a point . It's obvious that this is a Tory tactic . All it does is make Mordaunt look crazed ...
She always sounds doped up. I'm usually reluctant to say that because it might sound like I'm attacking her accent or working classness, but it's honestly not. I have a northern (Scottish) accent, and I'm working class.
Yeah it's not her accent. Jess Phillips has a strong Brummie accent and is an effective speaker. Mick lynch is brutally good and has a broad accent. I do think Rayner isn't a great debater unfortunately. What she says is fine in terms of towing the party line effectively but she's not a dynamic or strong speaker imo
it's because deep down she doesn't agree with what she's saying. There's no conviction or belief behind the lines her party have told her to reel out.
You know your screwed when the audiance laughs at just about everything you say.
Carla has shone here, Well done!
Moya’s hair looks amazing!! 🤩
Everyone on Novara has really good teeth - if Aaron ever wants to nibble on my ear, I’d be totally up for it 😂
Let's vote teeth and hair ❤
That’s filled me with hope for the future of my kids 👍
I am looking very respectfully
As a student midwife I find all these recruitment stats on healthcare professionals infuriating - they're completely arbitrary. I have been disappointed that no party has mentioned incentives to recruitment like bringing back the NHS bursary, providing support so that student nurses and midwives don't have to get jobs on top of their FULL TIME UNPAID placement hours across three years. They will never get more staff unless they improve just how difficult it is to get trained and registered as one.
Aaron BREXIT is one of the main reason of why the economy will not recover !
Aarons statements that the SNP were intellectually dishonest when Stephen was talking about brexit indicates a fundamental weakness with this channel, while i larger agee with much of what is said nobody here understands Scotland or the betrayal of Brexit that the Scottish people feel. Scotland voted to stay in the union and one of the main arguments that swayed many was the promise that Scotland would be unable to be in the EU. Unlike England Scotland voted enthusiastically to remain but yet finds itself outside the EU. Michael also made a point in the last debate about renewal energy being everyone's and not Scotland's, this also exposed his ignorance that Scotland has the potential to provide 25% of the EUs energy from wind and waves, you really need some one with a Scottish perspective to understand these arguments as your anglo dominant perspective reduces your ability to provide an effective narrative when you are discussing the SNP or Scotland.
Scotland also voted to remain in the UK during their referendum on being part of the UK, meaning scotland is obliged to follow the will of the UK as a whole on issues like remaining in the EU. You should have voted to leave the UK if you don't like it, that's how democracy works. It's funny that SNP, a literal nationalist party, is allowed to look down on 'anglo perspective' and the moment an englishman shows any patriotism it's racist and bad, I think you're all a bunch of whiny crybabies on the issue and SNP has no place being in the UK parliament
@@arran6255 - If you re-read your statement you should take it as a prime example for double standards. So if they have to suck it up what the UK (aka England) does, then they HAVE a right to be in parliament. You may not like it but you have to suck it up. If they leave, you're rid of them - but not before. But your mindset is exactly why Wales and Scotland don't think there's much of a union anymore but England and its subject colonies.
Yeah, they really need a Scotland Office to make that happen. Hopefully the bigger they get, the more able they will be to employ their Welsh, Northern Irish and Scottish consultants to ensure they get the right angle on the devolved nations.
dont expect the english to understand us
Aaron, you might have gotten over Brexit and no longer care about it, but a great deal of Scotland do. Two thirds of us voted against, it and even more want to return. It's taken a sledgehammer to our industry and economy. We didn't vote for it, your country did.
If Scotland doesn’t want to be beholden to the rest of the voters in the UK then they can leave, but we know that’s not going to happen since England pretty much funds Scotland’s existence. Think you’d be surprised by how much of the Scottish disposa around the world think the snp are crazy.
Scotland voted to stay with England. Not long ago. So that's what happens.
I didn't support brexit, but the far right have already won and been normalised in Italy and it looks like they will soon in France too - it won't take much for them to reshape the EU in their own image and if that happens I'll be glad we left
Whilst I'm with you and understand the pointing it out, Aaron has always held a level of disdain for Scotland and independence. He's not very good at masking it and let's his personal bias interfere any time he talks about it. It's something that unfortunately is very grating about him.
@@danielwilkinson9685 because they were told that leaving the UK would involve leaving the EU - at least initially - with an uncertain length of time before they could rejoin.
Penny did not look comfortable at all, she seemed very nervous and quite angry. When you see her face when the camera pans she appears to be dreading giving an answer.
I think she's probably the most effective debater and speaker in the Tories at the moment. It's hard because she's standing up for awful policies for a party everyone hates and I thought she did a good job of that.
What a sham, both were as useless as each other. It didnt make any difference to what I'm going to do with my vote. Tories was never in my mind but neither was Labour, all i see is Conservative on both side. Worst of all Labour is making themselves look unrelated with me as a working class individual, i will not vote any of them, but i will say anybody that vote them two knobs will regret it.
The only solution to what you want is PR. Under our current system pretty much everywhere in England you have to either vote Labour or LibDem to get the tories gone, that's the problem with FPTP. Where I am I will be voting labour as they are most likely to beat the tories. I've switched between Labour and LibDem over my life depending on how I viewed each party, Green has never been an option for me, it really would just be a wasted vote. For this election tactical voting is our only choice, use it wisely.
Voting reform removes the tories. They will be a better opposition in parliment and think would be the best option
Well said. If I were English, I'd be voting for either the Lib Dems or the Greens. As it is, I'm SNP.
@@JoannaHammond Then it's pointless. You're voting for more of the same. Why are you wanting to get rid of the Tories? It can't be for their policies, because it makes no sense to vote for more of the same.
The spelling and grammar is an indictment of the education system.
Nigel Farge agreeing with Angela Rayner 😂that says it all.Keir Starmer Labour Party is a Frankenstein !
Is that not because of the populist rhetoric though, which is sometimes identical to socialist rhetoric
@@DeezN1892 - There's 0 socialism in the current labour party. Whatever existed was purged along with Corbyn.
It's ridiculous that stamer and sunak get to have their own private debate. They would both sink if they had to face this panel.
very true
Thanks for the vod x
Gotta love a good vod 🔴
It's honestly embarassing when every single representative completely outshines the two main party ones. Rayner and Mordaunt were absolutely bloody hopeless here - no wonder they don't want PR, they'd be absolutely screwed!
I don't agree with some of the Greens idealogical ideas but Carla really held her own here - she done a great job.
Plaid were the strongest imo, I know they're not national but Novara could have done a better job of highlighting some really strong talking points.
They've always had a bit of a weak spot w/ regard to the decolved parties
What ideological ideas do you disagree with out of interest? I find my self the opposite, I agree with their ideology and policies mostly but think their spokespeople usually suck (in debate format)
Why wasn't the Workers Party invited? They already have an MP and are have candidates all over the country.
Very low effort of the presenter to call him Rin Ap Yar-wooth
Thanks for your work!
It would be nice if Moya would stop shaking her head and speaking over Nigel everytime he’s talking.
Carla smashed it. Green is the only way to vote 💚💚💚
If I was in England, I'd be voting Greens. Happy to give the SNP my vote. Never Labour. And the Tories were never even an option.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I don't think she did (she had her momentsfofr sure) and I really like her. The Greens are talking a lot of sense on TAX and HOUSING (two of the main issues in GB) a little less on some other stuff.
I really wish they had the cut-through to have the numbers required to form a coalition and keep Labour in check but they’re MILES OFF that at the minute. I think they’ll grow (Bristol is key) as Labour maintain the Status Quo and people become ever more disenchanted but I just feel they need a little more polish and fight - They still come across a little “Sixth Form” at times and I’m not sure Carla is their best front person.
Don't get me wrong, I wish them nothing but luck and have seriously considered transferring my Labour vote to them (first time in 35 years), I just dont think they’re quite ready, mature yet.
Penny Mordaunt's "it doesn't matter what color the cat is as long as it catches the mouse" is a Deng Xiaoping quote 😂
The Conservatives have cut and underfunded social care which has added huge pressure to the NHS by having to provide beds for that too , so yes They have maintained minimal NHS funding but they’ve gutted it’s sister Service and treated nhs staff abysmally
I’m finding it bizarre that none of them want to offer to work with Labour when they will the majority party and they know it everyone knows it.
It's almost as if Labour are so close to the Tories now that there's no point.
I wouldn't want to work with Labour either.
But the Westminster parties have actively worked against the SNP for decades. Labour and the Tories work together in Scotland, to oppose the SNP. They hate the SNP, a left wing party more than they hate the Tories.
labour isn't left wing
@@OneTrueScotsman8❤
Plaid worked with Labour in the Senedd and ditched them as soon as Labour started purging the left, pushing genocide and pivoting to the right.
Blue labour 📣
Even that's being generous.
It's no longer New Labour, but New Tories.
Red tories you mean?
Starmer is off the visible blue scale an ultraviolet Thatcherite Tory.
Imagine what Israel did to the Palestinians when we couldn't see what we can now see on our phones.
Glad Carla Denyer did well tonight, I really hope we gets in and the Greens keep growing. Great coverage, and well done to the production team, very slick getting the clips ready for the discussion straight afterwards
She is always very impressive.
as a green voter, i feel like carla denyer needs to be a bit more aggressive in challenging labour, tories, and reform, especially when they lie the most. this is a chance for the greens to increase their party recognition, but carla left the whole plate full of foods on the table.
Labour is not raising tax for WORKING PEOPLE but they're going to make "UNWORKING/ INACTIVE PEOPLE & PENSIONERS" poorer!
The highest tax burden Labour Party keep going on about , actually we sit way below the European average and nestke between eastern European countries, which is why a public service investment is as below par. Most of our European peers have higher taxes so so what if you’ve got the highest tax burden in this country, we also have crumbling public services. If the burden increases on the more wealthy they can afford it
Can the debate not be paused when the hosts want to make a point?
It’s live
@@biscuit4259 'live' doesn't mean it can't be paused. I guess it depends on the platform 👍
Labour only started backing a ceasefire in Gaza when they saw that the Muslim vote for them dropped at the local elections in May. Go back and watch Starmer's views on Gaza after the local election results. I think the vote fell by about 16%. Starmer has backed Netanyahu from day one after 7th Oct. Why the change of direction from him at the time I've mentioned ?
Exactly
Where's George Galloway?
Not big enough of a party to be there
It was wonderful to see Labour slapped around from all sides, in the debate.
I mean, I hate the Tories, I've never voted for them, and for the same reason I now despise Labour and Reform. But Labour's uniquely bad because they are supposed to be a left wing, socialist, progressive party. That's what they were founded to be. And Starmer's stuck two-fingers up to it and dragged the party into firm right wing politics. It's like a friend cheating with your partner vs a stranger cheating with your partner.
Not Starmer, Blair. Starmer is just heading in the same direction that Blair did. A centrist, neo-liberal light party. Corbyn was opposed to that and see from which sides he took heat for daring to go against the establishment. Slander and lies and propaganda from all sides, including his own party, to ensure he goes nowhere.
WHERE IS GEORGE GALLOWAY?!!?!?
Why is Keir and Sunak not here? Pathetic and disrespectful to the electorate.
Ed Davey isn't there either, but I think Daisy Cooper is probably their better bet for this type of debate anyway.
"Each politician will then have an uninterrupted reply" - well, as uninterrupted as Penny Mordaunt allows.
I understand that Farage is spewing xenophobic rhetoric, but I didn't appreciate Moya speaking over everything he said and complaining that he's obsessing over the single issue that he gets votes for. I'd much rather hear the discussion and then refutation of his arguments by Novara presenters in future
Labour's slogan is " Change"... Well were is it ? They are promising austerity after years of berating the Tories for it . Center ground politics does not exist. Have you noticed how it always favors those on the right ( Banks, the wealthy, financial institutions) and those on the left get the crumbs brushed off the plate. Political parties can't be everything for everyone. It's one side or the other. This country needs radical change. And it ain't the change Labour are advertising.
Maybe we wouldnt have to build lots of homes if landlords weren't buying up all the homes...
29:32 why is it bad for more kids to be in statue schools and therefore everyone has equal opportunities and access to education?
Exactly, it's honestly common sense, improve state education, improve equality, reduce the wealth gap, strengthen the economy
I hate that I have to pay attention to this shite, it's not good for my mental health
Penny Mordaunt sounding like she from gen Z wit how much she shouts "no cap" FR FR!
Stephen flynn speaks sense ,and great eye candy too !
Last debate with these 7, the Scottish Nationalists wiped the floor with the others
Because breakfast clubs don't cost anything. Also, chances are most people won't be using them so Labour will just scrap them saying nobody uses them.
You know what makes me sick the most is we don't even look after our own homeless people and we're giving migrants hotels 4-star 5-star and given a new phones new clothes Nike trainers Adidas trainers everything top grade will homeless people have nothing that are British
Reform is overtaking the Conservatives 😂👏
It is payable if it's not your primary home as you are paying on what is basically an investment.
Great coverage. Love all of you at Novara!
I thought I was watching a modern day Monty Python skit
Couldn’t find this live, where did you hide it?
Once again Novara being disingenuous to Wales. Constantly talking over the Welsh candidate even when he’s putting forward left leaning points.
Then saying it’s not fair Welsh Labour aren’t there? Welsh Labour have no successes, all the good policies we’ve had came from Plaid as part of their now cancelled coalition.
We don’t even have a “Welsh Labour” as Labour HQ are parachuting in London based MP’s into Wales safe seats.
Left wing media outlets like Novara and Joe Politics don’t understand or care about Welsh politics even when we have the arguably the most left wing and progressive politicians and government in the UK.
I counted once. The news for Wales is 45 seconds to 1 minute. You never see MS or MP's in Wales interviewed. Labour completely takes Wales for granted. Novaro claims to be for the little guy but couldn't give a piss about Wales or NI. Champagne socialists.
News for Wales is 45 seconds to 1 minute. Novara claim to be for the little guy but couldn't care less about Wales or NI. Completely dismissive. Welsh MS and MPs never interviewed, just Westminster poltics where Welsh MPs have been reduced. They couldn't care less unless its about England (specifically cities).
And stop the pain of England and all the other Banks making millions of the taxpayer that would also help that could also pay for a lot of things
Carla smashed it.
I know you want to comment during the show but I really wish you would wait until the breaks or at least keep the comments to a short time during the debate. For some parts I had to switch to the ITV video to hear what was actually said.
Then watch it on itv
@@jackoh991 I did both, as I explained in the comment.
@@JoannaHammond yet you still complained
I love how the main parties don't take part with their leaders... All a show makes no sense at all
Aaron, in 2016 Scotland voted by 62% to remain in the EU. In the latest polls 74% of Scots want to be back in the EU.
It's an election debate, so of course Stephen Flynn is going to keep going on about Brexit, he wants to attract as many of the 74% to vote for the SNP as possible.
Farage saying we could be like Norway. Now doesn't.
Farage now saying NHS could be like France.. And somehow now people want to accept his bait&switch
Send the migrants to Scotland and Wales
When it comes to government, fully costed is largely meaningless as is the concept of balancing the books. The Consolidated Fund is paid with future tax revenue, not current tax revenue. Hence, as long as a given investment is likely to yield a return the only limit on spending is capacity and risk mitigation. It's a shame (probably deliberate) people aren't taught this in school.
The capacity is not the same private sectors has private Hospitals, surgeries and theatres. Nurses still choose to work for private healthcare providers. What has to be stopped as the amount of people that choose to work bank..
I have a really great idea for the migrants coming on boats send in the Scotland they want them let them keep them
Moya, you asked if it was a disservice to Scottish Labour et al not being there?
Anas Sarwar... would run a mile rather than take part in a debate such as this. This would be his worst nightmare. The reason being that what he says on issues such as; Gaza, Welfare, Migration... to the people of Scotland does not match the line taken by UK Labour. He would be forced to take the same line as UK Labour, leaving him exposed as the unprincipled liar that he truly is.
Stephen Flynn seems to live rent free in Farage's head. Love to see it!
I kind of applaud all of the Farage fans coming onto a leftist channel.
80% or $23 billion out of $28 billion of the Australian PUBLIC school budget goes to private schools.
$116,500 per private school student, $1,500 for the taxpayers children.
That is the system that the Tories are implementing.
Trickledown for the school boards austerity for the children.
Here's an idea for a more informative debate format:
- Don't broadcast debates live.
- No audience
- Do a fact check and give candidates "Red, yellow or red" during the actual broadcast on the credibility of their statements
You thereby avoid the usual "opinion vs opinion" conclusion on something that is uncontroversial facts, and the moderator has time to pick statements apart with the help of a research team during the debates themselves.
- Release the unedited version online (3-5 hours) and broadcast the edited version for anyone that should have doubts about transparency or bias.
Rayner was shocking honedlyu don’t know how they thought putting her up would be a good look for the party
16:31 the conservative candidate paraphrasing Deng Xiaoping lmao
Did Penny Mordaunt actually answer a question without getting laughed at?
ALL the non labour and tory parties need to unite to push for proportional representation. Brexshit has been pushed on conservatives by Ukip, same could absolutely be done with the strong campaign from the other parties. Unite with Farage, unite with devil, we have a common interest to get rid of first past the post.
What we need is encouragment in the tax system for people to have more children to support the future workforce! we are an ageing country with low birthrates, that is just the recipe for reliance on migrant workers for the forseable future. Help people have bigger families!!
You’re wrong Nigel, people could work abroad before Brexit. British people could work in EU countries. But they’re not able to do now, that’s why there’s a deficit.
Bastani knows nothing about Scotland, end off
Badly organised too many parties and they talk over each other ..bickering ...quite off all of them quite frankly
Love Moya usually but talking over peoples key points is annoying
Actually, for authenticity, quality of argument and clarity of vision the Greens and Liberal Democrats romp home. (I was shocked how effective Daisy Cooper was).
2:05 Plaid Cymru (moderate left) and SNP (centre) are also left of Labour (moderate right) though how much so depends on how much their current leaders have taken them rightwards. Won't be nearly as far as Keir Starmer has taken Labour though.
Novara staff clearly not watched any non-english debates. ;)

I believe you pay 0% tax on Capital Gains for your family home, which means you are still taxed, but you pay no tax. It could in principle be raised to a higher percentage.
To keep the family home out of the hands of the care industry, usually means one of the kids giving up at least 10 years of their lives, and living in utter penury to be an unpaid carer.
