I have lost so many springs and pins due to my lack of skill. They can fly a long way. Farewell to my first Sparrows repinnable practice locks. Top content, thanks.
Also, don’t forget that basically all pins and springs are interchangeable (apart from trying to put the smaller American / master lock lock pins into a “full size” lock etc.) 😊 I.e. say you make two learning mistakes, you can often use the remaining parts from mistake 1 to repair mistake 2 😊 Having one working lock is better than 2 non working locks 😊
21:30 When using a plug follower, start at the middle pin. This will put the plug follower deeper, so it moves around less. Then push the follow through, and do the deepest positions from the back. 24:30 With a good pinning shoe, you don't need any front follower, you can just put the pins in one by one and slide the shoe over it. Overall great guide ! I share your opinion on the segmented follower and also advice to use a shim whenever possible. My prefered pinning shoe is the metal one by Ouverture Fine
I can confirm the Sparrows/Lock Noob Gut Wrench make c clip removal so much easier. I used to use just a Kwikset pickle fork, but it struggles with pretty much any clip that isn't on a Kwikset lock. The Gut Wrench works on so many more locks, is quick, and doesn't have the pointy edges so many other clip removers have. Well designed! Many of the other tools I use, e.g. pinning tray, follower set, are 3D printed and easy to find
Brilliant that you made a video like this, this will help a lots of new people etc👍 Can also use the plug itself as a follower, a little more technique and maybe not recommended for new people in this field.
Just out of fear of skeletonized cores, I only turn the key a fraction of a pin width when I don't shim it. Most locks can be gut without turning, but an empty chamber 6 is a real bummer if you didn't turn or shim!
This is by far the best video you’ve made to date so informative perfectly explained. Wish you lived here in the US.

huh, but you can get everything as spare parts for those practice locks. Don‘t say farewell yet!
Get a reload kit from sparrows it has all the ingredients

Excellent guide for new pickers. Love to see these how-to vids. Hope this encourages folks to ge beyond picking to gutting, and, later,
re-pinning.

Great video, definitely a saved video to share with newer pickers or as a reminder.
Where do you get that small bending light that you use to look inside the lock?

Great Video! If I ever have to use segmented followers I will use masking tape to secure the core I am not wanting to take out.

At 23:40 montage issue.
Could you add a front loader in addition to the front follower for the half picked euro cylinder?
Great howto. A few more things to put on my christmas list. Where can i get a box of spare pins and springs?
12.52mm is Half Inch (not quarter)
At 6:15 you say "12.5 mm or 1/4 inch". NOTE: 12.5mm is HALF an inch not a quarter inch.
Ah yeah my bad
@@LockNoob BTW: This is the best disassembly/reassembly video I have seen. Excellent job. Thanks for sharing your skill and knowledge.
