If we weren't already hugely looking forward to this cruise ( Nova ) , we're giddy like excited children after watching this video. Such beautifully presented food , and I have to say beautifully filmed too Rich and Helen. You are experts at setting the mood for these ultra luxury liner. Fabulous content and essential information as usual. Thanks once again... we'll have to get some food , instead of gauping at the TV... amazing as it is. 😀❤️
be sure to book your preferred restaurants well in advance. We’ve just finished a 10 night cruise on Ray and couldn’t get into the Grill for dinner on the entire cruise.
Many, many thanks for all your wonderful videos on cuisine. Dinner for two is our favorite part of cruising. I caught myself trying to reach into the computer screen to have myself a taste. Bon appétit.
I love soup, and while I can’t have soy, those soups at Kaiseki look so delightfully light and nutritious and artistic all in one. I made it an important point to book Sur La Table aboard Discovery Princess. The pâté was sur la formidable. Would LOVE to try La Dame on Silver Nova. That Lobster Medallion Salad! Sign me up. Et j’aime bien du canard ! The Marquee, too, though looks like a French Winter Garden café in Paris. These have to be some of my favorite restaurants sent out to sea. Celebrity ship dining venues are a close second. Side-note. I need to try pizza with arugula. It just looks right. I can boast to those with me that this is the way it should be done... Like, the European way! Yes. That’ll awe and inspire them. I wish I discovered arugula salad earlier on in my life. It is really the most. Like sitting on the Côte d’Azur…from a high end cruise ship. Because that’s the way our kind roll, babyyyy!
We were just on Nova in Alaska for a 7-night itinerary. Overall, the ship was gorgeous, however, the food and beverage was far superior on Dawn. Kaiseki was tasteless, and the fact the ship's defacto hotel bar was a coffee shop (Arts Cafe) that doesn't serve alcohol of any kind was a huge miss for us. We tried ordering champagne at Arts Cafe and they told us it wasnt available. Dolce Vita only opens at 6pm. As such, it sits unused for a majority of the day. If a guest wants a libation during the day it becomes a treasure hunt for a bar that's actually open. The only option is then the Panorama Lounge or the outdoor Dusk Bar. Arts Café on Dawn offered a full bar and actually converted into a proper bar in the evenings.
We too found Kaiseki disappointing on Nova compared to our experiences on Silver Spirit and Dawn and know what you mean about the Arts Cafe too, though we did get used to it on Nova. We liked Dolce Vita on Nova and some of the new bars too (the Dusk and Shelter bars particularly). Thanks for watching and commenting though 😁👍
As usual a very nicely done, informative, and professional video. Thanks. One minor gripe though - I wonder if I am the only one who would rather hear Helen say "sultry" than you. :)
We are on the silver ray now from Rome to Venice it’s only the 2nd voyage of this ship and it was really disappointing food was not that good the service was awful the ship it’s beautiful but its going to be a while to sail again on silversea
Oh dear, sorry to hear that. Let’s hope these are just teething issues (as is often the case on brand new ships, though that doesn’t help you and your experience which should be better). Thanks for watching and commenting though 😁👍
@@visitwithus I was also disssapointed to hear that they charge extra for speciality restaurants such as kaiseki which the food was uneatable and Madame was good but not for $160 per person Regent doesn't charge extra for specialty restaurants and the quality is much better
Question - when you film, there are very few people usually. Do you get permission to board early? just film early morning? how do you make your videos (also you have a splendid camera eye AND likewise a splendid narrator / tour guide vocal style!)
@@sidlingsnovel2012 Thank you for your kind feedback. I always look for opportunities to film during quiet times in the ships. Guest privacy is our highest priority - we don’t like to disturb anyone’s hard earned vacation. 🙂 How do we make videos? It takes a looong time to edit each one. I guess i’m probably a little over fussy. 😅
Was on the silver Nova in April…..while the quality of the steaks were excellent, the hamburger in the Marquee was one of the worst I’ve ever had….wasn’t really a hamburger more like a seasoned meatloaf…when I mentioned it to the server, he wholeheartedly agreed with me
Wow! When the fares are this high I guess this is what you get, but honestly I’m not that much a of a foodie to want food as rich as this. But maybe someday as a treat!
Another spectacular video in a long line of video excellence for you. Silversea is an excellent cruise line-in fact I am booked on Silver Moon in January. However SS has 2 very annoying features. First is the dress code. Even with the new, “relaxed” dress code, men must wear a jacket in all public areas after 6 PM. Seabourn only requires a jacket on formal optional nights in MDR (The Restaurant). Regent, Explora and Ritz-Carlton have zero jacket requirement. SS is hopelessly out of step. Second is the offensive $320/ per couple charge in Le Dame. I would not pay this out of general principle. I would reference Chartreuse on Regent as included in the fare-and excellent. Even Guy Savoy in Paris is not worth $320 more than Chartreuse (and I have dined there)! So… I like Silversea but we all have nice options. With the coming glut of luxury berths and a likely recession, I would not want to annoy potential repeat guests if I were them. Perhaps, given your contacts with senior Silversea management, you can give them a wake up call. La Dame was only 20% booked on your voyage for a reason.
I traveled on a 17 day cruise Lisbon to Lisbon aboard the Silver Nova late 2023 .I’ve been on over ninety cruises of which six on Silversea prior to them being taken over by Royal Caribbean International and unfortunately I have to say that the food and service and in particular the variety have deteriorated in most regards.I was very disappointed .Although the ship in part was a complete departure from the smaller ships of the fleet I found the decor bland in certain areas and many almost empty spaces.A bit to large for the type of atmosphere Silversea ships usually have. Not personal and a bit cold .The entrainment was in my view very poor .In all honesty very disappointing but expected.
I, unfortunately, agree. Every restaurant on Silversea should be better than ANY specialty restaurant on RCCL or Celebrity, but the food fell very very flat. I've had better food on Carnival.
The Nova class of ship does seem to be a bit of a love or loath ship for many Silversea regulars. Generally we liked it but agree with you about some of the design decisions (don’t like where they’ve put the panorama lounge and it was VERY underused in our voyage). We found that overall the food was somewhat more varied than we had experienced on their other ships and generally we enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.

I need a 3 week cruise on Ray or Nova to sample it allll. If one of these ships wasn't on my bucket list before, they are even more so now!
Are you sure three weeks would be long enough. I think a world cruise might be more in order 😂

Do you have to pay to dine? I have heard they charge for their better restaurants onboard.
The extra charge restaurants are Kaiseki, La Dame and Chefs Table. The others are all included in your fare.
