Received one as a gift. Probably would not have bought it for myself but I really like it. It has the auto repeat timer, which is a must for me on a tool watch. It seem higher quality than some of the other full resin watches. You are not going to get the stainless light button with an aftermarket bezel.
Hey great review/thoughts. I am looking to purchase the gold one GM6900SG-9. I have the Rangeman GW-9400 and the very popular ‘Square’ GWM5610-1. Both are solar, so going back to a battery powered one, I don’t know. Do you recommend this gold one 6900 I mentioned, and any idea how long the battery last/need to be replaced?
I feel the same reluctance to by regular battery powered quartz watches, but honestly they last for so long that it's not an issue. Also, changing the battery is much easier than when you have to replace solar components. In my experience the battery life on a G-Shock lasts anywhere from 5-10 years depending on how often you use the light and other various functions. I have a G Shock that I bought in 2010 and it's still on the same battery that it came with from the store (and who knows how long it was sitting at the store).
Very fair review. I’ve had mine for a few days now and love it. I’m not too upset with the features as it has everything I use on a day to day basis. My other 2 G’s are solar atomic so I’m not too bent out of shape about this one missing those features. The mirrored inner bezel around the dial looks awesome and simply wouldn’t be possible if it was also to act as a solar cell. It can be had currently for around $135 @ Macy’s which is a steal for what you’re getting. Throwing an aliexpress bezel on a standard 6900 just isn’t the same.
Thanks for the feedback. If casio can make the GMWB5000 solar (very similar mirrored bezel) then I see no reason for the gm6900 to not have solar. But thats just me being nitpicky, it is still a fantastic watch at the end of the day.
Not in my experience. I dont have the gold 6900 but i have the gold GMWB5000, and if the finish is the same then the gold 6900 is pretty good (as long as youre not banging it around everywhere).
@@degenerateWA I have a GD400 and want something different but can't seem to get away from these dam bull bars lol...Thanks for the reply mate stay blessed 🙂
I agree overpriced but not by $100 (roughly £80). Standard DW6900's go for around $60 and aftermarket bezels go for around $70 (and that's for a lower quality fit and finish than the factory G Shock metal bezel). I would say overpriced by at most $30 (~£25) (IF we are comparing the GM6900 to a "homemade" customized DW6900).
@@DanRC69 I'd like to see a side by side of an aftermarket metal bezel that you have compared to one from the Casio factory. Both metal, yes, but fit and finish is not as good. Of course this is all my opinion. Each person has a different standard for what good quality is.
@@degenerateWA There are many on Aliexpress, i purchased one for my GW-B5600 (video on here) and the fit and finish is absolutely top quality. It cost around £22, the bezels for the 6900 are around £35 - £45 (depending on the manufacturer). The ones from MFG are extremely well made and finished, as are many others. There are a huge amount of them for sale and generally the quality looks quite consistent over various brands. I'm 100% positive many of these match the quality of the original Casio part, so its better to buy it separately.
@@DanRC69 like i said in the review, if you are a customizer or like to work with different parts then buy the aftermarket bezel. If you dont want to deal with it then the GM6900 is not that bad to buy.
Best looking G shock in my opinion. I like how it’s not overly bulky and feels very comfortable on wrist.
It's a clean watch for sure. They did a great job with the finishing and it is very easy to wear all day long.
Nice video congratulations! I will get the silver for me and the gold one for my wife. Beautiful watches. Big G-shock fan here.
Good choice! Love to see couples with matching watches. I will have to do the same.
im buying the gold one, im just gonna do it. casio knows what we want, also the review kicked ass bro
Thanks bro. And enjoy the new watch!
Does it have an auto backlight?
Anyone know how to do the auto repeat timer?

You are not going to get the stainless light button with an aftermarket bezel.
An awesome gift. I never considered that you wouldn't get the steel light button on aftermarket bezels; something that would change the look entirely.
i just ordered this! i think im going to get grey/dark grey strap for it!
Awesome. That color combo will look sick.
I AGREE WITH THIS REVIEW ...should have solar charging and double clasp band ..the 2 year battery sucks

I doubt the after-market bezels are drop-forged in 20 steps like the one here is...
True.
Beautiful watch i have dw6900hm but i cant deal that half of screen is only for second animation
Definitely not the most effective way to use the screen. Us G-shock fanboys will buy anything Casio puts out though!

Can I swim with the watch on my wrist?
Yes. Just dont push the buttons when the watch is underwater (im sure it will be fine if you do, but its generally not a good idea)
Does it easily scratch? Specially the gold one?

The matte strap kills the look on this polished finished bezels
I don't want a full metal strap. Too heavy.

Can this model be fitted with a stainless steel band and protector bar??
The case has slots milled out for bull bars so I don't see why they wouldn't fit.
