You should watch the behind the scenes of this movie! This move was gonna be 20 times darker! Like all the meat eating animals were going to wear shock collars since basically brith . I actually like that idea better though it would be sad since they would be in prison their whole lives! I recommend it!
One of my absolute favorites!!!! Finally! I admit I never really noticed the animation though, well, besides the fur and the different landscapes when Judy arrives at Zootopia. Still, watching it now (after not watching it for at least two years) and focusing on the animation blew my mind!!! Those shadows, the amount of detail and the points you made about the expression/eyes! Great reaction and commentary!
So, about Mr. Big, he's an Arctic Shrew. And they are some of the most efficient and lethal hunters. Eating 3-4 times these body weight every day to survive. And when you consider most of their prey items are insects. Suddenly the notion of an animal hunting and eating 15-39g (depending on the individual shrew) makes them rather fearsome predators.
In terms of ranking list of Disney movies, zootopia is by far in my top 5 of al time Bc of the origin of the movie and how well it was executed and how great the animation was as its a movie that ages well
also theres actually a story behind nick and his small fox partner that they were competitors and nick accidentally messed up and mr. big gave him a certain amount of time to make money and nicks rival at the time found out and felt bad for nick cause he knew if nick didn't get the money mr. big would ICE nick so he decided to help nick out and together they were able to make the money up that nick owed mr. big and then mr. big made a remark about how well they worked together and that ever since then they have been partners also at the time nicks partner when they we're still rivals nick was new to the whole thing while his rival and future partner had several years doing the hustling business just wanted to let you guys know that since i found that out a few years ago and thought it was really cool
i love the looney tune bugs bunny references they make with judy; her putting a boot on kicks stroller without him taking his eyes off her and despite the fact that theres no physical way she was carrying a boot that large on her person, here burrowing under the fence in tundra town in 1 second , her cuffing the jaguar in the blink of an eye with cuffs that are way too big to have come from her pocket, and all these things happening off screen just like with bugs bunny
one thing people hav pointed out that while it's portrayed here as discrimination or such, very often cops start as traffic duty and such, not necessarily going straight to beat cops or such hehe.
This movie is one my favs. Great reaction. After Bad Guys, might I suggest Hunchback of Notre Dame (it looks at similar themes to this movie, but was made in the 90s. That and the score is great) and Prince of Egypt (you will appreciate the animation in this one, its great)
One of my favorite 3D films of all times. In the 90's we had Lola Bunny but now we have Judy Hopps. if they make a Zootopia 2 i can only imagine the social problem their gonna add next.
You two should look into Life of Pi specifically since you both love CGI so much and how it is implemented. Won for visual effects, cinematography and directing plus music. tons of other noms .. Of course, no rush, but something that should be on your radar down the line lol. I always get movie suggestions based on things you say in the reaction. I get that Judy was just a rookie and she was assigned a specific duty - but if she trained as a cop and was on the spot when a crime took place - she was doing her job and doing it well by chasing the robber. When you can prevent a crime from happening or catch the perpetrator in the act, time is of the essence and the last thing a cop should do in that situation is hang back because of internal bureaucracy.
It's funny how this movie and Moana came out the same year and ALL of the hype was originally for Moana due to it being a musical with a "new Disney Princess" and while this one did get some advertising, it was definitely not a 'must see', but then it blew up like wildfire and I think to this day it's still the more popular of the 2 movies because while I liked both, I LOVED this one. This movie had very smart writing in my opinion! I laughed at all the adult jokes.
15:30 my little bro who is training fo be a cop when he watched this half year ago mentions that she doesn’t know “the beat” of that area. Meaning basically doesn’t know the ppl, where’s what, any info and so on. You send a rookie or a cop with no knowledge into that area can become a mess be they do something reckless, get easily manipulated or read “the mood” among ppl faces if need help or not. Example is San Francisco most known area is tenderloin district and it’s shady rep. There are other blocks where communities and what ppl do varies and depending which cop is there they need to read the area pretty much. Most cops start at meter jobs so that besides handing tickets out they examine the street and ppl to keep note on things.
I was 12 when I watched this 7 years ago when it came out, and I was very scared afterwards. Zootopia was one of the darkest Disney/kids moviesI had ever watched. But I loved every second of it, especially the cops solving a mystery aspect of it.
Another movie that reminds me a lot of this is "The Bad Guys" genuinely its such a good movie and has unique animation. I think you guys would enjoy it
First of all, great reaction as always. During the Woolter Jesse scene you said when we watch BB you will get it. Does this mean BB is upcoming because that would be amazing!!!!
Great reaction lads, one of my favourite Disney movies in the last while and very well made commentary. Hopefully with this you’ll be willing to move onto the more mature version Beaststars. I’d love to see your reaction to that - I promise by the end you’ll be swooning and rooting for a Wolf, Bunny, Panda and Deer. Also one thing I notice in a lot of reactions is the throw back again the chief. In reality he’s literally doing his job and trying to tame down a literal rookie officer from being both overly zealous and jumpy. It’s good to remember that while you get all your training in the academy your actual training begins on the job in reality - it can teach you a lot but it can’t teach you how everything goes down irl. As such it’s very normal for junior officers who initially get assigned to a precinct to be given the worst and most boring and shit jobs possible (and by worst and shit I don’t mean dead bodies I mean sitting at a traffic stop taking speed readings on cars). It’s done so that: 1. It tempers the officer into the actual job they are doing - this ain’t like the movies where it’s all action packed it’s actual cop work like Hot Fuzz showed with lots of boring sitting around and paper work. 2. It’s to get the officer to slowly get to know the community and begin coming apart of it - remember not all Officer go into there local community’s but can like Judy be assigned to one’s outside of there local area. As such they have zero connection with the people there as such it’s always best to start them off slow and grow them into it. - take in this case Judy doing her monitor job. While she’s absolutely going zealous about it now, slowly you begin to learn the people about and those “yeah he’s 30 seconds over but it’s Damien and I know if he’s not moved from here it means he’s been held up in the shop. I’ll leave him a warning but ain’t going to fine him” Yes your not fining him as the law notes but you are giving a warning as is your ability to judge on the circumstance - if you know it’s a very very rare thing and you know why, you let that stuff slide. You see it in videos where cops catch younger drivers speeding on backroads and such and they know why and while they will give em a warning and send em home, they ain’t going to fine and arrest them (or if they do it’s a small fine easily paid off just there to give em a small freight and “hey watch out cause this is a ‘we’re letting you off’ one”. And it’s slowly over those first initial years of doing these small time jobs that they begin slowly introducing you into the bigger stuff. Yeah you may be a metermaid for 2 years, but if your doing your job well and your showing your connecting with the community and your precinct, say 3 months in they may start letting you take the day off meter’s assigning it to someone who had a rough week and they’ll let you jump in with another squaddie so they can start showing you the further ropes and again helping to tame and fix up those smaller parts about ya - you may be being to overly zealous getting to try and know a community who may be cautious of you but having a veteran of the community there to hold you back and remind you it’ll take a while for them to comfort up helps.
By re-watching it with you I noticed more things and hint. Like the fact that she helped Judy to get the case. She arrest a guy paid to get the bulbs and she's directly in the police station. She's not naive, she knows how dominant and patronizing people are going to be on a little and helpless bunny. And after the frame of the mayor, it's a sheep that ask THE question no one wanted to ask. There is no good answer to the question.
It would seem that the animators would select a particular star. to mimic the characteristics . The obvious example being Mr. Big. This is the classic buddy cop format. opposites working together to crack a case. Another animated buddy cop movie was Osmosis Jones, you might enjoy looking into that one. This is a recent favorite of mine. up there with Treasure Planet. and Lilo and Stitch.
if you guys like animalistic prey/predator dynamics, i highly recommend watching beastars! it's an anime so i guess whenever a spot in your anime channel lineup opens up, y'all could react to it.
and also most new rookie cops end up doing meter maid or parking duty because their new to the job and thats kinda a way for them by doing that job for awhile to eventually be given an opportunity to do other jobs later on
But isn't it a compeletly different operationall field then investigating? How would you ever learn to investigate and how to deal with criminals if you are just doing parking duty?
They feature the entire DMV scene in a movie trailer, and it was kinda painful to watch. But when it came to the actual movie - the scene actually works. I don't know why, but it works. Maybe it's the music.
It's still painful but it's funny, and they drag the slowness long enough for it to stay funny and not over-the-top before it could become annoyingly painful
Some channels...some you want to hate, love to hate even. But you guys are just so positive, it's great. Can't help but see the bright side of things. And I like how it isn't just an empty BS optimism either. You guys just try to see all sides of things. It's nice to see so many different perspectives from the same two people
Haha. My point is that I can be a judgemental douche some times, but I can't help but be cheered up by your channel. Even if I wanted to I couldn't hate on you guys
The gruesome play scene when Judy "Dies" at the beginning and blood goes everywhere was a nod to The Addams Family (1994) when Pugsley and Wednesday slice each other up and bleed all over the audience 😂
I loved this movie! Love the art style and the animation is so good. All the characters were so likable, especially Judy and Nick. 10/10 performances. I do think as a metaphor for racism it’s pretty clumsy, and pretty quickly stops being any sort of useful critique the second they’re like “this group of animals definitely USED to be kill this other group because of their innate nature, but they don’t do it NOW so it’s cool”. Also the fact that the group that historically subjugated the other is now the one being discriminated against, when the opposite case would be a far better allegory to the real world. And then obviously it’s a pretty idealized and fantastical depiction of police officers, and pretty unrealistic that the police seem to be immune to the anti-predator prejudices (which is almost hilarious in a movie about racism). And the way that Judy endangers civilians and breaks the law when investigating and arresting people is painted as totally cool cuz she’s the protagonist. But really that’s my only gripe with it. And it’s basically exactly what you’d expect when a childrens/family film includes cops and racism. Gotta balance lightheartedness against being *too* real. I’ve seen this movie countless times (i worked in electronics at a supermarket/department store, and our display unit thing that played those store ads on the tv wall broke, so the manager just hooked up a blu-ray player and played the only two open-box movies we had on loop: Zootopia and Minions) and still enjoy it every time.
41:38 omg i NEVER noticed that and ive watched this movie so many times thats SUCH a cool detail to hint to the audience it was fake from the beginning
While I haven't seen too much of the film prior to this, I do know that for the ZNN news, one of the anchors shown in here, Peter Moosebridge, was voiced by an actual news anchor. Peter Mansbridge is best known for being the chief anchor of CBC's main news show, "The National", in Canada from 1988 to 2017.
24:18 I heard that Mr.Big took care of them and created the whole ice biome not sure how much of it is true but there is a short movie about it on disney+
Bogo's line "Life's not an animated musical where you sing a little song and suddenly all your inane dreams come true." feels like kinda a self-cynism or self-mocking of Disney consindering that what happens in many of Disney's animated movies, especially in the Disney Princess ones. Frozen does it a bit as well with Elsa saying "You can't just marry someone who you have just met." which also is true in Disney's Princess movies, especially the earlier ones like Snow White or Cinderella (and at the same time it spoofs Enchanted as Idina Menzel's character Nancy Tremaine does just that, which ironic that it's her character Elsa who says that).

If you love this movie you will love the Anime Beastars. Beastars is set in Cherryton Academy, a prestigious boarding school that is a microcosm of a society where herbivores and carnivores have learned to coexist as a society on mostly equal (and safe) grounds. At Cherryton, the herbivore and carnivore students have integrated. They study together, they eat together, and do fun club activities together. This might sound similar to the setting of Disney’s Zootopia, which imagines how different animals can live together and the social tension that may arise from it. But Beastars goes even deeper in its conception with grey undertones, exploring with more sobriety on how the food chain turns into friendships (and vice versa). The underpinning unease is that carnivores have adapted to a lifestyle that doesn’t give them any physiological reason to prey on the herbivores for survival. Yet, some still do it to sate their predatory instincts, which by the social norms of this world is frowned upon.
41:51 For me, this part is too similar to Waternoose from Monsters Inc. when he says "I'll kidnap a thousand children before I see this company die" and it's been recorded on the TVs. Maybe this is a movie cliche, but, apart from that, I like this movie a lot.

The casting in this movie is perfect! Like, Tommy Chong, a stoner legend, as a nudist hippe yak with dreadlocks? Brilliant!
Very fun fact the voices for Judy and the Pig that was yelling at her to catch the guy who robbed his store are Married. Josh Dallas and Ginnifer Goodwin (who also played Snow White and Charming in Once Upon A Time)
This movie is single-handedly responsible for changing my pronunciation of DNA to “dunnah.”
Easily one of the best movie reaction channels
Thanks so much!!
ikr?! it's great that they *react* to the movie but most channels does that, these guys have a discussion at the end :)

Hard to believe this was only the third best animation of 2016, Zootopia, Your name, SIlent Voice what an amazing 3 movies.
Fun Fact, Mr. Big is an Arctic Shrew, which eat about twice their own body weight a day due to their high metabolism, most of the food being prey they hunted or scavenged. Those things would be far scarier then a Wolverine if they were the same size.
I don't know about that. There have been recorded cases of Wolverines taking down fully grown Polar bears. Wolverines are absolutely insane.
Yeah, sensible folks with snakes won't put just any old "field mouse" in to feed to their snakes, because they might end up with a fat shrew instead.
Sad how underappreciated this movie is, with how many themes it explored that still apply until now
"underappreciated"? It's overhyped af and the furry Judy x Nick shipping fandom is still going strong to this day
And what do you mean "still apply now", was 6 years ago a whole different era? lol
@@whade62000 6 years ago is NOT a whole different era. Prejudice is STILL a problem, and frankly will always be a problem. No matter how many years, Zootopia is still very much relevant in today's world with the themes. If you don't see that then open your eyes.
@@appleglassjuice11 They weren't saying the message doesn't still apply. They were saying the original comment saying the message is still strong wasn't needed since 6 years ago wasn't long enough to be considered a different time i.e. we are still in the same time.
Fun fact: Duke Weaselton is played by Alan Tudyk, whose character in Frozen was the Duke of Weselton (which one of the characters mispronounces by mistake, then later on purpose, as Weaseltown). Brilliant actor, btw.
Priscilla the sloth is voiced by Kristen Bell, who was in a viral video freaking out over a sloth.
Damn! Yeah it makes sense now.
This is a great way to introduced concepts like this to kids.
Absolutely!
This movie gets so dark at times, such clever social commentary
Also the scenes with the feral animals are kinda scary, for a kids movie
My favorite characters in this movie are Judy and nick, they really do make a great team together. Even though they are different animal species.
If I remember correctly, when the duo goes to see Bellwether, you can see a sticky note by her computer mentioning Doug and his phone number.
i love the looney tune bugs bunny references they make with judy; her putting a boot on kicks stroller without him taking his eyes off her and despite the fact that theres no physical way she was carrying a boot that large on her person, here burrowing under the fence in tundra town in 1 second , her cuffing the jaguar in the blink of an eye with cuffs that are way too big to have come from her pocket, and all these things happening off screen just like with bugs bunny
This was my favourite movie for years
I would love for you guys to react to Who Framed Roger Rabbit, it is a once in a lifetime movie, an iconic piece of animated film.
40:04 "the anaaaaaamaaaaaation" 😂 amazing reaction line
The Foley team must have had SO much fun in the DMV scene. The slow stapler sound kills me every time.
one thing people hav pointed out that while it's portrayed here as discrimination or such, very often cops start as traffic duty and such, not necessarily going straight to beat cops or such hehe.
Definitely one of my favorite movies of all time, animation included.
one of my favorite parts of the whole movie is that breaking bad reference, so i’m glad someone got it. 😂
This is one of my favorite animated movies, I'm so glad you guys are reacting to it
This movie is one my favs.
The Godfather reference is gold 😂
Zootopia is the highest-grossing animated Disney film ever (outside of the Frozen series).
Like catch me if you can is a movie based on a real person that came to my head when you said something about converting someone over to the FBI.
Boosting this! I don't know if they've already seen it but I absolutely love the movie and the experience of watching it. Definitely would be an awesome reaction!
Shut up! You guys are finally watching this masterpiece! Yes!!!!
Since this is also my favorite disney movie (actually, it could be my favorite movie of all time since im such a disney fan), the fact that my favorite reactors share the sentiment just makes me SOO happy!! Love u guys, always🐰🦊💖
U should watch Zootopia+ it's a spin-off series of Zootopia. There u'll find the backstory of Mr. Big and why they had polar bears as their guard
Lmao 🤣🤣🤣 i love how u put our Flash in the thumbnail 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 hilarious
I get that Judy was just a rookie and she was assigned a specific duty - but if she trained as a cop and was on the spot when a crime took place - she was doing her job and doing it well by chasing the robber. When you can prevent a crime from happening or catch the perpetrator in the act, time is of the essence and the last thing a cop should do in that situation is hang back because of internal bureaucracy.
Emmet Otterton is a spin on the Muppet's "Emett Otters Jug Band Christmas"
It's funny how this movie and Moana came out the same year and ALL of the hype was originally for Moana due to it being a musical with a "new Disney Princess" and while this one did get some advertising, it was definitely not a 'must see', but then it blew up like wildfire and I think to this day it's still the more popular of the 2 movies because while I liked both, I LOVED this one. This movie had very smart writing in my opinion! I laughed at all the adult jokes.
The sloth scene was golden 🤣
Judy having connections with Mafia kind of a weird thing thematically if you keep thinking about it
This does not seem like a kid movie it is more for adults, and I love it.
Me too.
Life can be bright in Zootopia
If you can fight in Zootopia
Life is okay in Zootopia
If you are prey in Zootopia
One of my favorite films ever
I think you guys would enjoy it
The animation is perfect and the sloths made me laugh the most. As officials in our country. and Mr. Big .... Well, what to say?
Zootopia: Mammals
Zootopia 2: Birds and Reptiles (including dinosaurs)
Zootopia 3: Amphibians
Zootopia 4: Fish
Zootopia 5: Invertebrates
Zootopia 6: Robot creatures
Zootopia 7: Future evolved creatures (Speculative evolution)
Zootopia 8: More prehistoric creatures
Zootopia 9: Mythical creatures (Including Greek mythologies)
Pootopia: a bunch of poop types living in harmony
Pootopia 2: DIARRHEA DIARRHEA DIARRHEA
First of all, great reaction as always. During the Woolter Jesse scene you said when we watch BB you will get it. Does this mean BB is upcoming because that would be amazing!!!!
When this came to the theaters when I was 5, I made my dad take me to it 3 days in a row 🤣
This was so underrated and I am still waiting for a sequel which isn't coming apparently. "Blood blood blood, dead". Loved this.
Well, lucky you! ZOOTOPIA 2 IS IN THE WORKS!!!
It’s done so that:
I’ll leave him a warning but ain’t going to fine him”
Yes your not fining him as the law notes but you are giving a warning as is your ability to judge on the circumstance - if you know it’s a very very rare thing and you know why, you let that stuff slide.
There is no good answer to the question.
quote that i saw, " the world is animals... so where did the icecream come from??"
..soy ice cream?
Almond milk ice cream
Idris Elba is the voice of Chief Bogo..😊
The thing with the "carrot for one" actually happens to my father. He had a ravioli can but there was just the sauce with one single ravioli in it XD
Now THAT should be a crime 😢
If you guys want to see some crazy water animation you should check out Frozen 2!
Thanks for all the great content! :)
Also Moana!
I’ve seen this movie countless times (i worked in electronics at a supermarket/department store, and our display unit thing that played those store ads on the tv wall broke, so the manager just hooked up a blu-ray player and played the only two open-box movies we had on loop: Zootopia and Minions) and still enjoy it every time.
pretty sure it's about discrimination in general. I mean, good luck making a 1:1 metaphor for racism in humans, using animals.
Life can be bright in Zootopia
If you can fight in Zootopia
Life is okay in Zootopia
If you are prey in Zootopia
You talked about how it reminded you of Edgar, my first thought when Judy decided on the 200 tickets before noon was Nick angel
41:38 omg i NEVER noticed that and ive watched this movie so many times thats SUCH a cool detail to hint to the audience it was fake from the beginning
Now I want to see them react to beastars, since I feel it does an even better job building its world, and it animation is awesome
Zootopia is still the best non-musical Disney has ever produced. And it is a strong contender for best ever.
I *LOVE* this movie so much, when it first came out, my friend insisted that I am a lot like Judy 🤣 which isn't wrong lol
24:18 I heard that Mr.Big took care of them and created the whole ice biome not sure how much of it is true but there is a short movie about it on disney+
Turning someone with criminal expertise? You need to watch Catch Me if You Can.
If like a world like this recommend looking into an manga/anime called Beastars.
Loved this. I'm curious to see what you guys think of The Road to El Dorado. Its hilarious and very unique (and one of my favorites)
In Germany, sloths are called "Faultiere". Literally translated, this means lazy animals. 😀
Zootopia & Sing are my top 2 favorite animated movies.
oh wow....just realized the reporter that says only predators are going savages is a sheep, bet he was there to try to push for the fear bellwether wanted.
one of my favorite disney animated movies
If You Go Back And Watch Closely, There's A HUGE Clue Concerning Bellwether Being The Mastermind!! Look Closely At Her Computer And You'll See A Postit Note With Doug's Contact Number!!
