Manny - 5 yr old aggressive maltipoo - before/after 2 week Board and Train

- Manny (AKA Mannibal Lector, Manny the Man-eater) just finished our Board and Train program as a ROCKSTAR! This little dude came into our program with a major attitude problem. His owners were at a breaking point as Manny would continuously bark, bite, bully, chase, and everything in between. Fed up with his tantrums and at their wit's end, they gave us a call. At first meeting, Manny launched himself at me, bit my leg, grabbed my shorts and just hunged there for a bit until he decided to let go. We knew we had our work cut out for us! Watch the video! It's long, but it shows a little bit of our process with counter-conditioning and his amazing tranformation! Lucky for Manny, his owners are very committed to maintaining his training and making more progress. Great job everyone!

This gives me so much hope. I think I’m going to find one for my pup. He’s almost 2 and really needs to learn manners so he can be confident.
This is exactly what my maltese needed. He got the training after I rehomed him and now I regret rehoming him. At the time, I wish I felt confident enough that he would eventually be trained. I felt he needed another dog in the family for companionship and I was not in a position to adopt another dog. I felt defeated and highly pressured to rehome him and so I gave up and surrendered him. I love him dearly and miss him so much. I want him back and will ask the new owners if they will let me have him back. I fear they won’t though. It’s been 6 weeks.😭 I screwed up.

Unfortunately, you might just have to let the little dude go now since he sounds like he’s in a good place now and take it as a lesson, as unfortunate as it is.
You did the right thing. Time for you to think about fostering, that way you are able to get tail-wags and sloppy kisses while giving your furry houseguest the love it needs. Who knows, you could go from foster-care to forever-home
A lot of the time when I see a small dog that reacts like Manny does, to certain stimuli, a lack of socialization is usually involved SOMEWHERE in the issues
I will say, though, his reaction to having his neck touched was pretty damn sad, maybe even worse than the muzzle. Something had to have happened to the poor little dude in that area at some point for him to be THAT terrified of someone touching his neck. Glad you guys were able to help him see that wasnt a bad thing.

Poppy is 9mths and an absolute handful. Biting, jumping, barking and mounting. I can't help but love the little mite, after all, she is mine. In for the long haul I've always understood the longterm responsibility and commitment to care for a pet.
P.S....based in Sydney I am on the hunt to sniff out some assist/training for Poppy

This dog is a saint compared to my maltese.
My 5 year old maltipoo is the sweetest thing. He would never bite anyone.

Loved your video! Was hoping to ask if anyone had tips for a dog that won’t eat treats when out on a walk or when riding in the car?
Great question! If your dog is food motivated at home but not when you're out and about, try finding a higher value treat like 100% beef hotdogs. Or try a reward that isn't a treat like a ball or tug toy, or even just attention and scratches. Anything you can use to reward your dog and make you more interesting than whatever else is around them.
If your dog isn't food motivated at all, you can try changing things with their meals to increase that! If you usually free feed, try only having food out at meal times and then after 30-60 minutes take the bowl away until the next meal time. If you don't free feed, you can start hand feeding them their food during training sessions or through the day instead of in a bowl at meal time. Hope that helps!

Is low level correction a low level electrical shock? Yikes
The dog has either fur or skin squeezed by the collar etc. In additionnit is too slightly build, so you could consider changing to a more sturdy breed, since this demands a really sensitive touch. Most likely it would need a more female name.
My Bichon hardly listen to sit unless I got a treat.
I have a moody aggressive maltipoo that growls, nip and bites whenever we’re going towards the door to leave or going to answer the phone. I live in the Caribbean where there isn’t much assistance can you give me any helpful tips?
I have an idea. Club the bastard, then ship the carcass to Wuhan, China as dog-meat to be processed in the Chinese wet-markets.

Crate train them and train them for tricks dont use negative words or be negative towards him/her

It’s not manny the maltipoo it’s the owners their the ones that need to be taught how to deal with a maltipoo or any puppy. I have a 3 month old maltipoo and when deal with them encouragement they respond beautifully. I don’t get this having to muzzle that maltipoo that was sad for me to watch. Then u do all this training with manny and if he does something they don’t like what then ? I believe the owners need to know how to work with a puppy 🐶 that’s just my opinion.
After finishing our program, the owners receive unlimited free refresher lessons for the rest of their dog's life. His owners have done a great job keeping up with his training and he now has a much bigger and happier life because of them. We see Manny whenever his owners go out of town and he is doing fabulous!

I'm sorry, but could NO ONE else see that this dog was scared to death and was trying anything to get away from those "low level" corrections? I cannot watch this. It is totally unnecessary to put ANY dog through this.
