  • A storm brought down a large tree branch. I cut a straight section and let it dry for 18 months. This week I decided to make something cool out of junk by turning the log into a lamp

That camera shot with the Pepsi Cooler Table, the log lamp with the cool 'bear lampshade, and the license plate wall clock is a true Alley Picked tableau.
Tom, I love this lamp. It's a snapshot of a particular event in your life. You will never forget this storm because you have commemorated it with this lamp project. This lamp is quite an attractive project and quite a creative one as well.

Thanks Eddie. That's one thing I often think about...My great grandkids will know all about my life through all my videos. How cool it would have been for us to watch videos with our grandparents working and building things around their house.

      @@AlleyPicked What great insight, Tom.
You are exactly correct. Thanks for all of the fun that you have given to me through your videos.

Well done Tom. I really thought your were a “grip it and rip it” kinda guy not “scissor guy”. 🤣🤣 Keep up the great work!!!

That 'turned' out lovely. (See what I did there?) Really, very nice result mate. I hope that was the worst of the local damage - we've had some nasty weather in the UK and Ireland in the last few days and some quite serious consequences. Cheers mate.

I see what you did there :-) I hope all the bad weather you had will not cause more damage to your already leaky roof. Glad to see you hack in the shop.

This is inspiring and beautiful. I may just try my hand at a lamp. I have an idea of a led tree lamp like use branches and make it look like a tree but use small led lights to light the tips of the wooden branches.

That sounds very artistic! If you do it, send a picture. I'd like to see it.

Oh, boy. Now I "have to"...
    "It's a bird!"
    "It's a plane!"
    "It's...Lamp Guy!"
(Wow. I'm a sad sack sometimes...)

Good video! I saw you using a meter to check continuity. I would assume you were confirming which wire was the Neutral or hot..... FYI, in case you did not know, the smooth side of any lamp cord is the Hot and the ribbed side is the Neutral.

Nice lamp base! Local is lovely.
I didn't see an underwriter's knot in there below the socket. Did I miss it?

Good catch! I thought about it but since I put the strain relief socket at the bottom, I wasn't sure if I needed it. I may go back and add it later, I didn't know it had a name. Thanks for keeping me honest! Tom

@@AlleyPicked All the lamp harps I have installed usually go on before the socket, and are held down by it.
