Pretty much nailed it there Grant. I ride a steel framed Ribble with full mudguards. Hate getting my kit covered in crud. Big fan of 4 Seasons tires. Not heard of Fenwicks products so will definitely look into that lube and drivetrain foam.
Good to hear it mate! Yea, I’ve been out on the mudguards since and they do a great job of keeping mud off you and your bike. Definitely try the Fenwicks stuff, not expensive either.
I'm a 365-day-a-year rider and I didn't winterproof my bike at all. Just ride the same gravel setup I normally do, but clean it and lube the chain more often. The groupset will need a full replacement before spring, oh well.
Dont know how cold it is when you re still riding outside but my feet get cold very quickly so having a winter specific set of shoes made a big difference to keep the wind and roadspray out.
Yea I’ve been tempted to try this, I also get cold feet. What shoes did you buy? I’ve been wearing some grip grab overshoes recently and have found those much warmer.
I hate indoor trainers, yes, I have got one (a good set up actually) but I am bored after 10 minutes and long for the open road...so...I have got myself a second hand Enigma Etape Titanium, full mudguards and am now sourcing winter kit so no matter what the UK weather throws at me I can get out, safely of course.
Only tangentially relevant, my question regards your light. It's a Knog pwr and I have one too (excellent bit of kit for endurance riding) but you say you fix yours with a Garmin mount - I wonder how you do that? Mine is fixed by a (not great) proprietary slot and knurled knob arrangement on the provided bracket and I can't see how a Garmin bracket works. Thanks! PS: I'm ordering some Fenwicks' stuff - looks very effective.
@@grantritchie Thanks Grant - I've got it now and will have to find my Knog box for the adaptor. Just found your channel (the algo recommended your Ti vs. Carbon post) and I really like what I see so far. Also, that Reilly bike looks lovely - you're a lucky boy!
I use a battery operated leaf blower to dry my bike off. It is a real time saver. Another tip is to have an old puffa jacket ready to throw on when you get back so you can keep warm when cleaning the bike.
Great video 🙂 I'm one of those that love (and have) a dedicated rain bike with full coverage fenders on a frame w/ eyelets for fenders 🙂 However I hate the looks of SKS raceblades and I would never put them my on my bikes, then rather ride without 😀
@@grantritchie It's the way they're mounted on the bike that bothers my eyes😆 Full fenders also offers much more protection from road debris, in my opinion 🙂
Should have gone for GP5000 AS - they’re basically 5000s with more puncture protection and you can get them in bigger sizes. I run 35s in winter. Fast!
I dont understand people who have strong feelings about mudgards. My bike is my means of transport all year round, I cycle every day, everywhere. The setup is not on a wall looking pretty, its used to get out and about constantly so the way it looks is not a priority. People who talk more about looks than about utility arent cyclists in my mind, they're athletes, racers, snobby hobbyists :P
Yes for me too - I ride in the Dales and would get even filthier and wetter without them! I have SKS Bluemels fitted - they're fine now but were a pain to fit on my Ribble CGR so I'm tempted by the Raceblade Pros Grant fitted here for ease of fitting/removal. I hope he gives us a longer term review when he's done a few km in them.

@@grantritchie i bought the ones from Fizik. Also Grip Grap has some crazy waterproof socks that keep you real warm.
Great channel subscribed.. which computer mount are you using with the GoPro mount ? Cheers dude 😊 🚴🏻 Pete
Thanks Pete! Honestly I can’t remember the name but it was a cheap eBay job.

Hey! So it's a computer mount with a gopro mount underneath and then the light has the same go pro connector so you just have to screw it on.

Leaf blower-good shout! And totally agree with the jacket/fleece.

Haha really?! That sounds like so much more effort 😅 what don’t you like about the race blades?

I run full length mudguards all year down here in Cornwall. Maybe, in the height of summer, I'll remove the front one!
All year 🤯 You’re winning the award for most faithful to the mudguards for sure!
@@grantritchie To be honest, I forget they're there. Having been eyeing some carbon guards as an upgrade 👍
Yes to mudguards 🤓
What are you running?

As long as you ride a bike you’re a cyclist 😉 people just have different interests, and that’s ok.
