  • Sadly the watch is going back to Switzerland to get looked at. I love the watch and will persevere but this is frustrating.

    Oh no. These are frustrating issues, especially the chrono stopping unexpectedly. I actually use my chrono on a daily basis so this would be bad for me. Unacceptable at this price point.

    So sorry to hear about your issues, and I feel you 100%. I owned a Chronomaster Original and had issue with the 6 o’clock subdial hand drifting away from the reset position without activating the chronograph. Sent it back to Switzerland and had it repair and since then I dare not activate the 1/10th of a second chronograph again and it was all fine. It also runs consistently slow at -7spd , sent it to the local LVMH service centre to have it regulated, came back with +0spd but went slow again (-10spd) two weeks later. I loved the watch, but decided to sell it.

    OMG...sorry to hear these issues happened on your watch. that's a shame! I hope Zenith can fix it all well!

    Oh my. Those issues are bad! I'm so sorry to hear/see this. I own a Zenith Stratos flyback and that one runs perfectly. It's my dream-watch to be honest, and runs like a charm. I would've recommended Zenith to everybody but maybe that would have been premature. Good luck!

    This Zenith is so beautiful and sorry for that. I think you were very unlucky with your copy, I would return and get a totally new one. The problems you have are totally unacceptable.
    I own several Zeniths and never had any issues with them.
    I own 2x variants of Chronomaster Sport, 3x variants of A384 and 1x Defy Classic.

      Sadly it can just be luck of the draw. It hasn’t put me off the brand 👍

      Same happened with my Pelagos 42 with lume bezel falling out and Tudor GMT with date wheel issue etc. To be honest it doesn’t bother me. It’s a brand new movement and issues can happen.

    I fully understand your frustration. I had similar, but different, problems with an AP Royal Oak which even after being returned 3 times were never fixed ! In my case the auto wind never worked and the winding shaft would actually come free of the watch with a relatively gentle pull ! Eventually even they gave up and gave me a full refund. However, it spoiled a watch I loved. I hate to say it but I have never had such problems with any ROLEX I have owned - they may be boring to their QAQC is exceptional

      It can happen at any price point unfortunately. Zeniths quick and decisive response has been superb so far and I’ll update more when this has all concluded. The nature of the response has surprised me in a very good way.

    Big issue with Mat Ceramic cases is they eventually develop shiny areas with cleaning/ wear.

    • @wheelsandwatches
      @wheelsandwatches  4 місяці тому

      Possible. I guess that depends how you clean it. Time will tell.

    A couple of thoughts. You are more than justified getting these issues rectified considering the cost of the watch. And yes those screws should be single use only considering the finish. As for the strap I see this as more of a wear and tear item. Have you considered getting a Artem strap in green with pvd deployment clasp? This way you can keep the replacement strap in as new condition. I suggest the new strap will enviably do the same thing and you will be $300 in the hole out of warranty..

    • @wheelsandwatches
      @wheelsandwatches  6 місяців тому

      Thanks for the comment. I have reviewed Artem straps and love them but the finishing of the buckle/clasp is at odds with the case. If I could use the zenith clasp on an Artem strap I would buy the taper is different 😞

    that's probably why the daytona has screw down crowns on the chronograph pushers, so you can't use it. XD
    but I got rid of my mechanical chronograph. These issues appear common for all chronographs and get worse when the power reserve runs low or movement needs service. I replaced it with longines conquest chronograph that has a swiss quartz movement and have not had an issue anymore. These are no longer on the market. That one is a 1/100th second split-second chronograph and performs very well. The movement inside has 5 quartz regulators and is -1s/month so I set all my automatics to it. Most mechanical chronographs use the same powertrain for timekeeping and chronograph functionality so will always be off by a tick (usually 0.25s, 0.1s for el primero).

    • @wheelsandwatches
      @wheelsandwatches  5 місяців тому

      I have heard it is common across mechanical chronographs. Even with this issue the watch still worked fine. Even the chronograph once reset.
      Zenith have been in touch and the outlook is promising. I’ll update when I have more information.

    Hate to say this. I had same problems with a Grande. Went back to Zenith 3 times and they never sorted it. Sold it back to dealer. Good luck

    I had a similar issue with my OG and it was caused by one of the gears engaging too deep causing the chronograph hand to stop and seizing up the whole movement. Mine is running slow since the day I got it (-3) and despite being sent back to HQ twice they were not able to make it run faster, even gave me an official reply stating they regulate to -4/+6 and the watch is within specs.

    • @wheelsandwatches
      @wheelsandwatches  4 місяці тому

      Mine is now running one second SPD. I think it’s great they regulate to COSC but they don’t mention that on their site anywhere and frankly it could be tighter given the price of the watches.

  • @Super_Will
    @Super_Will 6 місяців тому +1

    Hi. It’s a real shame as a beautiful watch and I hope it gets fixed. My own experience of chronographs has always. Even disappointing in terms of alignment , reset etc with Omega, Breitling and JLC. Much as I love chronos I think they are susceptible.

    • @wheelsandwatches
      @wheelsandwatches  6 місяців тому +1

      I think that might well be the case. If it’s returned with the pusher replaced and running more accurately but still has this issue with the chronograph second hand I’ll live with it. It doesn’t stop the watch working at all it just a niggle. It only moves when knocked so the rest of the time it’s spot on.

    • @steelsteez6118
      @steelsteez6118 5 місяців тому +1

      I own a Tudor chrono BB based on the Breitling B01 movement and I've never experienced any of these issues with my chrono fucntion so I think it's unfair to say all chronos have these issues. The red tipped seconds lines up absolutely perfectly with 12 o clock and tapping the watch relatively hard doesn't get it to budge. The flyback snap is super quick and accurate and hits the 12 o clock mark every single time. Have used the chrono function a lot and never experienced any of these issues. It's flawless. It would really suck if this is a "quirk" of the movement. Now I know why during last years watches and wonders, Zenith edited out the part where they are operating the chrono. It was really weird. Everyone in the comments section was like , "why did you guys edit out the part with you guys operating chrono??" . At the time, I suspected something went wrong with the chrono function. If I was a betting man, I would say it was one of these issues you've pointed it out. So that means they knew a out this since early production and decided to release these watches like this anyway. Not a good look for Zenith.

    • @wheelsandwatches
      @wheelsandwatches  5 місяців тому +1

      Very possibly yes. Shame if they knew about it back then and did nothing.
      I bet mine back hopefully late next week so fingers crossed.
      Apparently this is a common issue with column wheel chronographs and not vertical clutch chronographs that always that’s the chronograph hands engaged.

    • @steelsteez6118
      @steelsteez6118 5 місяців тому +1

      @@wheelsandwatchesahh interesting. I'll keep this in mind if I ever stumble upon column wheel chronograph ownership. Thanks! Oh, and Goodluck with your Zenith when it comes back from service! Hopefully that'll be the end of it.

    Those issues do not belong on that brand. Jeezs... I had many issues with my straps over the years with Zenith, my clasp pushers used to fall off until one day I had the dealer glue them for me.... kinda crazy but it worked... then eventually I had to sell my watch as out of warranty one clasp would cost me over 600 euro...

    • @wheelsandwatches
      @wheelsandwatches  6 місяців тому

      I agree. Sadly this seems to happen across all brands at all price points.
      If I get it back and the timing of improved and pusher is sorted I’ll keep it. The second hand is only an issue when the watch is bumped. It’s not an issue in day to day life. It’s not impacting the way the watch works. I just want them to sort it is it’s possible.
      I have had messages saying chronograph second hand issues appear across other brands like omega, jlc etc

    Did you report this directly to zenith? I purchased the watch recently and noticed occasionally my seconds hand had jumped forward but couldnt work out why.

    • @wheelsandwatches
      @wheelsandwatches  6 місяців тому +1

      Directly with Zenith. Sadly seems like this might be a quirk of the movement. You are now the 3rd person saying the same since I posted this. Mine does need a knock for the hand to move so while not ideal it still works fine.
      I am sending mine off this week and will wait and see what Zenith say.

    • @user-tn9wt9tm2r
      @user-tn9wt9tm2r 5 місяців тому +1

      @wheelsandwatches ah ok. Not ideal given the price point of the watch. Please keep us updated, if they are able to resolve this I may send mine in to be looked at.

      @wheelsandwatches  5 місяців тому

      Since posting this on a zenith group 3 other people with this model say theirs is the same. All work fine and accuracy is fine etc but the second hand issue looks to be a ‘thing’.

    • @DudeDadEsq
      @DudeDadEsq 5 місяців тому +1

      I got mine in June and it’s got the same issues. Chronograph hand resets off from 12 (a second push fixes it) and a slight knock on the non-crown side moves the hand). My AD contacted Zenith, and it’s already on the way back to the AD, who will send it to his contact at Zenith. I was told it would be fast, but in watch world, fast is measured in months.

    • @wheelsandwatches
      @wheelsandwatches  5 місяців тому

      @DudeDadEsq I think this might be how the moment is. You are now the fifth person I know of with this watch and this issue.

  • @TenAfterTen

    Well, there are just better Zeniths than these. Especially vintaeg. But, sure, these issues must be addressed. I think my 4 years old Cover Girl have had no issues and I have worn it a lot! With this one the nr 1 thing to bother me is Speedmaster style seconds hand :)

    Oh dear, Zenith really is a poor quality product.

    • @wheelsandwatches
      @wheelsandwatches  22 дні тому

      Not sure about that. I had issues with multiple Tudors. My IWC has poor lume application, I know of a Patek that was take. Out of packaging and would not wind. Not to mention the issues with the latest crop of Rolex movements.
      The customer service from zenith was exemplary, that made a massive difference.
      The watch is fine now and I love it.
