    Your videos are very dense in information and I appreciate that.

      That’s great to hear. My goal is to keep you entertained plus provide a little information while I build my boat. I have to speak to viewers with a lot of different skill levels. If you learn 1-2 things that’s probably a good video.

    To get a smooth finish, Coosa board takes paint well, and any imperfections are easy to fix with fairing compound.

    Really have enjoyed watching how your boat project is proceeding! I have learned more here than any of the other boat restoration projects I have looked at. This is important to me as I hope to buy a boat for a similar project in the next couple of years.

    What primer and paint did you use that works well. My cabinet will be outside on the deck

      All of my painting in recent years has been Rustoleum Marine Topside paint. It’s a budget solution 👍😁 but I have been pleased with the results and will be discussing this is an future episode when Ai paint the Skipper 20 sailboat

      @motorcityboatwerks I saw you used that topside on the Albin but I am all over the place on your videos looking for what you have done that I need to.
      Thank you sir!

      The Alberg 30 classic sailboat deck was done with Interlux Brightside Topside Polyurethane. The Compac 16 pilothouse and the Albin 27 trawler were done with Rustoleum Marine Topside Enamel, which is my current choice of DIY paint.

    Anther great channel and episode. Found a new channel i Iike. I read your articles talking about all the research and repower info. Part of the reason I steered away from the albin I found for 15k with the trailer so I went a little bigger but same concept as I’m going to I’ve on it. Question what are you going to name your Albin 27 FC. Don Petrey Ketchikan Alaska

    • @motorcityboatwerks
      @motorcityboatwerks  Рік тому +1

      Welcome Don! The boat will be named “Coquette”. But we won’t refer to it by name until the boat naming ceremony which will be much farther down the road. A boat is not named until a proper naming ceremony. Until such a time, it is just The Boat.

    By Motor City do you mean Detroit, MI? If so, I need a source for Coosa in the Michigan area, especially Northwest Michigan.

      Try one of the nationwide plastics distributors I mentioned in the episode or a local plastics supplier.

    Great episode. Good to learn about the different composite boards and where to buy. New subscriber from Andy. I haven't gone back yet and watched the beginning episodes, wondering if there is a plan to cruise once the boat is done?

    • @motorcityboatwerks
      @motorcityboatwerks  Рік тому +2

      Calvin try Episode 1. The plan is to cruise the Loop, the PNW, Sea of Cortez and maybe Bahamas/Cuba. I’m even exploring how to take trailerable trawler to Europe for the inland waterways and canals

    Does PVC plumbing cement work to secure these boards together? Or is there any kind of film coating on the boards to prevent the boards from chemically welding themselves together?

    • @motorcityboatwerks
      @motorcityboatwerks  Рік тому +2

      While PVC plumbing cement may work, in this application it is not strong enough. Epoxy is the way to go.

    We've all seen wood factories and toured them every time we walk through the woods. But why are we never shown tours of composite foam or Coosa factories? What the heck are they really?

      Cauldrons of mystery and magic. They have to keep the unicorn dust under lock and key so no one can copy the recipe. 😎

    I just priced a 1/2 inch thick 4x8 sheet of Celtic from a distributor and it is $350 a sheet. WTF? To me that is a no starter.

    • @motorcityboatwerks
      @motorcityboatwerks  Рік тому

      I suggest you find another distributor. Lol. That’s a bit much. Your price should be just around or under $200 for 1/2 4x8 pvc foam board. Be sure you are buying a material that matches your purpose. Some versions of PVC foam board have special properties that may inflate the quoted price. Good luck

    • @RA-gk5zg
      @RA-gk5zg Рік тому

      @@motorcityboatwerks No luck, other distributors are higher. One want $445 per sheet. The cost must have soared in the last year.

      Eplastics online $236 for a 4x8 sheet 1/2”

    Can you use 3/4" PVC foam board to replace marine plywood for pontoon decking?

    • @motorcityboatwerks
      @motorcityboatwerks  8 місяців тому

      PVC foam board is not rigid enough for decking or structural components. I recommend coosa board or marine ply. 👍😁
