For the love of cricket, I know those in North America will struggle to understand our love of this game, but it really is entrenched in us and the best day's entertainment. It is a family tradition to travel to a Match every year with my son Sam and now deceased Dad, and has become a family and friends day out that I would not miss for a million bucks.A huge thank you to our good friend Marea for taking us into the members stand for the day, it was a welcome relief after many days of being locked in a bunny suit and respirator, and to sink a few coldies with your son is priceless. Cheers Guys Rossco.
It's not the Cricket, it's the false title! I don't object to maintenance, cricket, or much really(except libtards, can't stand 'em), but if you want to video your maintenance, make the video about maintenance! If you want to video your day at the "pitch", make the video about your "day at the pitch"! I wanted to see the process of making foam panels! You gave me LESS THAN 6 MINUTES IN A 20 MINUTE VIDEO! Not cool!

For the table tops, you could get rolls of plastic sheet (the kind they use for greenhouses are the best because it's a stout material) and install them with the roll under the bench, at the rear of the table (on the wall side). Each time you need a fresh surface, you pull and cut the old one out. In the long term, it's a neat, efficient solution, I WISH, i could say cheap too, but everyone and their mother knows that prices in Australia are ...yeah. So that's up to you to determine if it's worth the cost, but ever since i got this tip from a friend, i haven't looked back. Bonus, unlike other materials, greenhouse sheets are UV resistant, so even if the bench is in the Sun and exposed for quite some time, it won't degrade and heat doesn't bother it as much (doesn't wrinkle).

Great video. I've been looking everywhere to see vids on using foam core as you did. Is that a special marine foam or is it similar to what's in the big box stores? Difficult finding suppliers for it. Thanks for the information. Cheers!
Hi Ross your right about us in N.A. cricket is like watching paint dry. But I can assure you with you by the side with a few cold ones I'm sure i could love it in no time . Besides it's about family and friends Fairwinds from the @captains.chair Mate
Can you not run a cleaning solution through once you know you won’t be using the pump for more than a couple days? Seems like it could save you a good bit of time, that is if it’s even possible
Really Cool!!! Enjoyed watching you make these. I am wanting to make a Foam Board fiberglass Truck Camper. Question for you because of your expertise. Do you texturize the foam in any way before applying the first coat of epoxy? I have read that they will delaminate if you don't but watching you do it looks like you don't.. Also what Fiberglass weight are you using and what epoxy?
In the middle of researching how I should go about building the structural cabin of a 4x4 expedition vehicle, fallen across this video and I have a couple of questions. How do you best attach the internal panel dividing walls to the main structure? Is it just more epoxy on the panel ends and "stick em" together or do you layer glass round the corner from one panel to the other. I see issues with trying to get a flat surface if I do it the latter Also another YTuber who has already built one has used honeycomb panels as he discovered the glass /foam panels delaminated too easily when he tried to attach things to them. On one hand it sounds easier to use honeycomb but on the other I am going to need more insulation than that surely? I can't see honeycomb having anywhere near the R value / K value of foam panel. Also do you vacuum bag glass to better distribute the resin in the foam core.. I don't know where best to start.
Hi Ross I'm not sure if you have discussed this previously but why not vacuum infusion for making the sheets and other components. Do you feel that the spray pump controls the amount of rising applied as well as vacuum?
Graeme, the qty I am doing here would take 5 times longer, and cost 3 times more in set up and consumables .furthermore a a 1 man show and the fact that our cat is already aimed at a 1500kg reduction in weight from original production boat, fell it would not be worth the added drama and possibility of failures. That said I vacuum infuse parts and in many cases they are justified. In thus case I believe there would be about a 10 percent weight saving and using a professional machine such as I have definitely improves the wet layup process as you tend to spray only what's needed (user inititated)rather than pouring resin and squeezing off excesses.U have done some rudimentary testing of my sheets and there is minimal excess and certainly outstanding rigidity and stiffness. All the best.Ross
There is a strainer on the intake, but saturated resins will always have some buildup as the thixotrope drops put of solution. That combined with the dust and oil residue ultimately only way to avpoid it is to acetone flush every day which would be too harsh for the entire system.Hoses and orings would likely suffer. All the best Rossco
I've noticed that so far you seem to be using foam core and not looking at any of the honeycomb panels for structural elements. I am wondering what has driven that choice. Is money the primary reason, or are there some technical advantages to the foam core or it is more compatible with the other material choices you have made or the manufacturing process. b.t.w. I haven't accepted your channel name change yet, I am waiting for the major milestone of removing the hull from the mold first. I don't see a lot of examples of that step out there for catamarans. I keep wondering how much weight and stiffness you will add to the hull before as I would think that will make it harder. I can only imagine how difficult it will be in a big shipyard with all their fancy equipment; in your little operation that seems like it will be daunting.
Over the years? Didn't you just get that little machine? We saw in another video you trying to get it up and running, but couldn't. Is this a different machine?
Awesome work mate, i need to make some sheets soon, what density are they? That game was quite a while ago are all your vids 3months behind? Keep up the good work!
Yep Webbey,3 months behind typically.Foam is 12mm H80 with 300csm 600db on each side.To attain strength of 12mm plywood you would need to step up to 300csm x 2 and 600db both sides on 20mm h80 foam.Doesn't have same compressive strength though as ply.
@@LifeOnTheHulls yeah cool think i will use the 100density gurit, im keeping everything on my boat above floor level foam core to keep Centre of Gravity low! Gunwales might have an extra layer of bi-axial for rod holder strength. Love your work mate!
Hey Charlene. All cloth is rated by weight here in Aus and the products are not known by code names. Product is likely 1200g db with 300csm incirporated or otherwise kniwn as combi mat or knytex.

You should break down your pump cylinder after each job- not when it gets faulty. Which is what he's doing but not saying. Its doesn't take a day, do inside 2 hrs easy.
I complete a breakdown and rebuild after each module but in my case machine sits idle for months unlike a full time shop so there is a resultant effect of latency that invariably shows up on start up .Full tear down snd rebuild includung gun can take up to a day to ensure machine is perfect and spring pressure seals are clean and fubctioinal.Cheers and thanks for watching

Ross have you looked into getting say a motorcycle shocker seal fitted to the shaft to reduce the dust and therefore the frequency of maintenance ? Even a dust shroud ( plastic bag ? ) around the framework would help. That young man needs to be instructed in manners ........ serving you and leaving "the boss" to serve herself is not right. Cricket - The US will NEVER understand it ! I am almost surprised that 1220mm x 2440mm (𝑜𝑟 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒 "𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑎𝑟𝑑" 𝑠𝑖𝑧𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑓𝑜𝑎𝑚 𝑖𝑠) sheets of 'glass covered foam are not available directly from suppliers, although you would have to pay for the labor and you would want them to use your own "custom" laminating schedule.
They are available in certain layups, certainly not the schedule I am working to. Most commercially available sheets are suited to ultra light performance or kit craft. The longevity of which is still debatable although you can always bung s few more layers on at the build end, which defeats the object in the first place. How many yachts I see with massive dents from bumps and knock from wharves other boats etc says to me that yep there light and no ,they are simply not strong enough.Cost is about 8 times more per sheet.Cheers Ross
Absolute shocker eh, heavy drums of concrete are the base of my stands and they destroyed the floor. The new floor is like a NASA clean room, for now. Cheers Ross

What do you mean twilights, paddles???
@@LifeOnTheHulls werent you sailing up here on your mates boat
@@jeffkeating8994 I see, we were doing the Seawind Club Races on the harbour last 4 weeks till daylight savings ended. All done now and missing the brilliant nights out on the harbour already. Cheers Jeff
Hey Ross - your videos are 25 degrees centigrade behind.👍😂
Great video. I've been looking everywhere to see vids on using foam core as you did. Is that a special marine foam or is it similar to what's in the big box stores? Difficult finding suppliers for it. Thanks for the information. Cheers!
Hi Ross your right about us in N.A. cricket is like watching paint dry. But I can assure you with you by the side with a few cold ones I'm sure i could love it in no time .
Besides it's about family and friends

I see issues with trying to get a flat surface if I do it the latter
Also another YTuber who has already built one has used honeycomb panels as he discovered the glass /foam panels delaminated too easily when he tried to attach things to them.
On one hand it sounds easier to use honeycomb but on the other I am going to need more insulation than that surely? I can't see honeycomb having anywhere near the R value / K value of foam panel.
Also do you vacuum bag glass to better distribute the resin in the foam core.. I don't know where best to start.
I'm planning a camper as well. I want foam for insulation. They build hulls like this so delam shouldn't happen. Any progress?
Thanks Ross it's looking awesome, mate!
Can't you put a plastic shield over that oil to prevent dust from getting ii there?
Dumb question, but is there any kind of filter to help with the gummy resin, or is it just buildup over time?
There is a strainer on the intake, but saturated resins will always have some buildup as the thixotrope drops put of solution. That combined with the dust and oil residue ultimately only way to avpoid it is to acetone flush every day which would be too harsh for the entire system.Hoses and orings would likely suffer. All the best Rossco
Ross with your experience you could of shown the Aussies a thing or two about sanding! #sandpapergate
Keeping junk out of those seals sounds like a job for a felt wiper packed in that recess.
popping out of the mold soon or did i miss it?
You haven't missed put, lots more to do and double storage of mould and boat not economical till I am close with the deck made.Ross
Always good when we beat Kholis mob
For sure Pete.
Good episode Ross
Thanks for the name change episode too. Speaking of names, do you have one for her yet?

Obrigado Boston, estou feliz em ver que você está aproveitando bastante nosso canal. Muito obrigado por assistir.Ross
Ross, would it help the piston tower of limiting contaminants by wrapping a sheet of clear poly around it? Or is this just a chemical buildup issue?
Bob,
I have made a plastic cover and I do believe it is a combination of chemicals , oil, and dust so lets see how it goes. Cheers Ross
Over the years? Didn't you just get that little machine? We saw in another video you trying to get it up and running, but couldn't. Is this a different machine?
This is my big machine,it is incredible really jusee t needs love and care.Cheers Ross
Love your work mate!
why so many air bubbles in the flat sheet?
No air bubbles, shweets are near perfect.I don't bother wetting out peel ply,so pwerhaps that's what you have seen.Cheers Ross
Are you using 1708
1708 fiberglass
Hey Charlene. All cloth is rated by weight here in Aus and the products are not known by code names. Product is likely 1200g db with 300csm incirporated or otherwise kniwn as combi mat or knytex.
Yeah, I suppose you can't turn back now.....best of luck as always.
No turning back.
The correlation of hard work and coldies is being lost in the US. They have their beer and devil lettuce. Just missing the hard physical work part. I have a 2 sons, there is one I like drinking beer with and the other i'd like to use one of those cricket crusher mauls on.. But I love them both with all my heart.
Funny thing. My coin doesn't look like the one at the end of the video. Do yo have a new coin coming out?
Daniel, you are an absolute legend for supporting me and I class you guys as original supporters and appreciate it so much. I can't see another coin as Seeker has good stocks of the old one and the new emblem is more of a logo that I fashioned to move forward.Cheers Daniel,Ross
@@LifeOnTheHulls No problem Ross. I like the coin I have just fine. Very little effort on my part. But like the old woman said when she pissed in the ocean, every little bit helps. I hope it helps.
You must spend a lot of time replying to all of this and then you have to work on the boat. Wears me out just thinking about it. You are awesome in my books. Not many people would have the fortitude to complete a project like this. I think you will. My hat is off to you.
By the way, I would love to see more about your kayak business in future videos. Maybe a tour or something like that, or some pictures of your kayaks.
Thanks Ross for all you share,

Aussies won buddy about the only game we won all season .Cheers Rossco
Come on Ross nothing connected to a boat casts $2
So true Pete.I have acquired some parts for my gun system for 50cents each though by shopping around on ebay.Cheers Buddy.
A master at his craft - can you pls send me 1kg of your special "good mood in unneeded bad situations". Your father is remembered. Best wishes from the other side.
Thanks Karle, my father really was a great fella. It's only now you realise how important these people are in your life, his influences and mentoring shaped just about everything I do.He had a passion for video as well and watching home movies now I realise that I am him and that probably isn't a bad thing.
Cheers Eric
Eric,I have since made a plastic cover shroud that sits over the shaft and reduces dust etc, shaped like a donut.Sammo got caught in this video,he is actyually in real life the most Considerate bloke on earth especially when it comes to his mum and his sister, and anyone to be honest. All the best. Ross
you lost me at fkn cricket lol, keep up the awsome work.
I get it but we love our cricket.Cheers
Damn...missed 666 again!!
First! Lol 😂
Good on ya Mick. You legend. Cheers Buddy.
