Just discovered this Andy’s channel a few days ago. I love them! I’m an Italian fanatic supporter of Jannik (goes without saying…) and I have to say that Andy’s honesty and candor even over the most controversial (and not enough talked about) topics, like appearance fees and money in tennis in general, is so refreshing. Keep it up!

Wow, I had to look this up but Roddick is the player who has made the most Wimbledon finals and not won at least one of them in the open era. That 2009 finals was heartbreaking, absolutely deserving of that lifetime membership with that match alone.

Lovely discussion of a magical place. I queued up for 4 hours or so with a long line of friendly people, missed the first available tickets, and didn't make it in until mid afternoon when someone left. I only got to see an hour or so of late afternoon doubles but enjoyed myself thoroughly. It is an experience not to be missed.

    Hey Andy!
I was actually at your match at the US Open back a couple years before you retired, where you broke your racket, you meant to actually pass it to me but some old dude snagged from me. Appreciate you trying, I bought an autographed photo on Pristine Auction as a replacement, stay GOATed!

i crossed the pond for it. had a nice time. gorgeous and special experience. but the crowds were too big for the amount of seating. there is no seating behind most of the grounds courts (unlike US open - but they put 700m into the complex). nevertheless...i highly recommend it and will likely go back. icing on cake was seeing federer practice 15 ft away.

Such a shame you didn't win in 2003, 2004 or 2009 (don't think you had a chance in 2005). The other year was 2007 which was probably the most painful loss to follow as a fan (especially as Gasquet did nothing vs Federer). Fingers crossed Kyrgios can make a deep run again this year

If you wanted to see Roger by waiting in the queue, you were setting up a tent the day before he plays. Quite the experience waiting in an orderly line with tens of thousands of people on a lawn.

This is absolute gold - the membership invite story was just so moving, especially given the locker room guy's involvement. Sublime. The only addition to the whole Wimbledon 'revenue?/less is more!' story is THE QUEUE … that's where the true magic is… that's where you get woken at 4:30am in the morning to move your tent and you wait 2 days and then there you are…. in some of THE BEST SEATS in the stadium that have been specially put aside for people like you who CARE and those seats get sold to you AT FACE VALUE. Just genius.

@@HeavyTopspin if you do something special you’ll get the call up for the Royal Box. Or do something special and make enough money and you can just buy debenture seats on the stockmarket. Or have a special time and queue up. Or… take the easy street, forget about doing anything special at all and just whine that you’re not special…. your call!

Best sports venue in the world would be either Lords cricket stadium in London or the Modi Cricket statium in India. The Modi stadium is also the largest sports venue in the world with 135,000 seats.

I put Wimbledon the #2 Greatest Sports Venue In The World. #1 is... The Masters. Hole 12 is so beautiful, upon viewing, my hair stands up on the back of my neck. Truth be told, I've never been to Wimbledon. I might change my ranking if I ever had the good fortune to go. Also, I have amnesia. Roddick lost to Federer in 3 finals at Wimbledon? Oh geeze, these would be wounds that would never heel. I'm still upset for missing a game tying goal from high school waterpolo.

There was a UA-cam "short" survey recently, wherein viewers were asked to rate which great sporting event they would most like to attend, sort of as in a bucket list connotation. The Superbowl, World Cup Finals, College Football Championships, and NBA Finals Game 7 were listed. As these four choices tend to skip some of the more popular sports in the world, to say nothing of tennis, I happily "penciled in" a Wimbledon Singles Final...crickets three weeks on and counting.

There is no successful example except the Williams sisters and their father was intelligent enough to know when it was time to let go ..
