it’s not a priority and definitely not something you’ll need right away (if ever) :) the courses in the video will give you everything you need to start (and some)

Hi @UnixGuy Love your vids! Just a quick question, what certification would you recommend a HR personnel to take in order to land a job in digital forensics the fastest way - without going through a diploma or degree?
I am caught between studying for A+ or Sec+ or google cyber sec ..... or something like the courses here... hmmmm..... excited though.. I will decide soon. Thanks man.. your channel should get an award for real.. good luck..
Thank you so much for making this video, I actually feel like I have a solid plan of action to reach my goals now! Question though, where does Security + Certification and the Security Blue Level Level 1 Certification Course come into play? Or would you suggest us not do those for this career?
Hey mate, as mentioned in the video, if someone has zero technical knowledge, then the google cyber security cert at the beginning is sufficient (no need for sec+) blute team snd hack the box could be done later to gain more generic cyber analyst skills and incident response skills :)

Love your content. So practical and useful. I have a question, you have the Ritx course, and it looks fantastic, but I have a full-time position. Is there any other course which is the same but self driven and not instructior driven?
hey mate, the RITx course is designed for individuals with a full time job, the workload is totally manageable and you shouldn’t have a problem completing it :)
Hey UnixGuy, Thankyou soo much for another career roadmap video and I really like these kind of videos as I get to know different fields in cybersecurity and how to go about it. As a beginner I am really interested in OSINT, but I'm confused about the potential jobs or opportunities that open up after acquiring OSINT skills. I'm struggling to get a clear picture of the career options available once I've learned it. If you can provide a basic roadmap for it I would be very glad. Or if you can please make a similar video on this topic.
OSINT is not a career path, it’s just a skill that can be gain as you follow this forensics pathway. Best to follow this roadmap and add OSINT skills later
I work as an OSINT analyst now. It's not a bad job but it is a dead end for the most part. You might be able to advance into managing an operations center but that is about the only promotion in the field.
You're a godsend. Being relatively new to CySec, working as an ISSO (and sometimes also as a fill-in Sys Admin, hence your point on titles), forensics is the direction I want to move towards but pathway mentorship is been a bit lacking. My question, is regarding the Google Cybersecurity Cert that you recommend. IMO opinion, good training never hurts anyone but in this case I currently hold the CompTIA Trifecta & CySA+ and am about to knock out RHCSA (and maybe also Lin+, we'll see). I haven't looked into the Google Cyber Cert and am wondering if it will bring any new material that hasn't been covered by the Sec/CySA+ and would be more of just a refresher course at this point? Bypass the Google and head into the INFOSEC?
I appreciate this so much I’ve been lost trying to figure out where to start and this road map gives me a better understanding of how to go about my journey I have a question I am coming from a physical security background and was studying for my A+ would you recommend I continue or switch gears to the Google Cyber security cert?
Hi, UnixGuy! Thank you very much again for the amazing job for doing this video! Truly appreciate it. I would like to ask your expert opinion on 2 questions: 1. Is Python the most suitable programming language for CyberForensic? 2. What level of programming is one that a cyber forensic investigator with healthy ambitions should pursuit? For example, Python basics or Python fundamentals, or Python advanced, or going deeper? Trying to follow your advices and keeping the balance. You truly help a lot! Thank you very much for your self-determination, it is priceless for me and for many of us, I am sure. Have a nice day!
hey mate welcome here! 1) Python can get the job done, and easy enough to learn so I’d say stick with it 2) dont worry about that now, follow the roadmap as it is, every role is different and not all of them require programming
Sincerely thank you! Copied that. Could you, please, share your opinion about two more points: is it a good idea to add EnCase certification to the roadmap in your video or the combination of mentioned RITx:ComputerForensics + Infosec CompForSpez+ INE DigForProf already covers that? Can't afford SANS for now. Also, do modern cyber forensics investigators need something like Comptia Network+ or the network topic is covered enough in the GoogleCybersecurityCertificate and in the other certificates from your roadmap. Thanks a lot in advance, sir. I truly appreciate it. Good luck to your channel and I wish you a lot of inspiration, thank your for inspiring us!@@UnixGuy
EnCase is a very popular software, but I would do that only after you finish this Roadmap, you need to first learn more about forensics and get some confidence and even try to land a job, then you can learn something like EnCase if your job demands doing the certs in this roadmap will cover everything you need so encase will just be another software to practice with
you are reading my mind man , i was looking for a video for you about this title , so i was wondering after you said it is very technical i felt like its not for me ,is it bad if i was looking for field that dont need a really deep tachnical skills? XD I'm watching your roadmap videos to compare the paths for Analyst, Ethical Hacker, Engineer & now Forensic Investigator, and I noticed they always start with the google cert. Then you start here with RITx and I'm like "Oh, something different, he's not starting with Google, I'm a little disappointed." And then boom! most companies use windows at work. Mac is fine too. Whatever you can afford, you don’t need anything special.
Hi @UnixGuy Love your vids! Just a quick question, what certification would you recommend a HR personnel to take in order to land a job in digital forensics the fastest way - without going through a diploma or degree?
the certs mentioned in the video :)
@@UnixGuy thank you!

I am caught between studying for A+ or Sec+ or google cyber sec ..... or something like the courses here... hmmmm..... excited though.. I will decide soon. Thanks man.. your channel should get an award for real.. good luck..
definitely skip A+, start with google cyber cert then do sec+
Thank you so much for making this video, I actually feel like I have a solid plan of action to reach my goals now! Question though, where does Security + Certification and the Security Blue Level Level 1 Certification Course come into play? Or would you suggest us not do those for this career?
Hey mate,
as mentioned in the video, if someone has zero technical knowledge, then the google cyber security cert at the beginning is sufficient (no need for sec+)
blute team snd hack the box could be done later to gain more generic cyber analyst skills and incident response skills :)
@@UnixGuy Thank you for taking the time to respond to my comment! So Blue Team and HackTheBox Sherclocks is something to do at the end, gotcha! You're seriously doing so much to help people like me, thank you again for everything you do!

@@UnixGuy One last question and I promise I'll leave you alone lol For the RITx: Computer Forensics Course, I do plan on doing that after the Google Course, should I do the Verified Track or the Audit Track? Will they let me do it without taking the Prerequisite?
@@thebeanz7838 you can do without out the pre-requisite, do the verified so you can get tests and graded assignments
Ok thanks, I got your point.
One more thing is there any scope of remote work in digital forensics?
yes@@knockknock2290
Bypass the Google and head into the INFOSEC?
you probably dont need the google cert no
@@UnixGuy Appreciate the quick response and all the info you bring. Thank you
I appreciate this so much I’ve been lost trying to figure out where to start and this road map gives me a better understanding of how to go about my journey I have a question I am coming from a physical security background and was studying for my A+ would you recommend I continue or switch gears to the Google Cyber security cert?
switch gears, A+ is too pricey and completely unnecessary
Thanks, very helpful
🙏🏻
Hi, UnixGuy! Thank you very much again for the amazing job for doing this video! Truly appreciate it. I would like to ask your expert opinion on 2 questions:
1) Python can get the job done, and easy enough to learn so I’d say stick with it
2) dont worry about that now, follow the roadmap as it is, every role is different and not all of them require programming
EnCase is a very popular software, but I would do that only after you finish this Roadmap, you need to first learn more about forensics and get some confidence and even try to land a job, then you can learn something like EnCase if your job demands
doing the certs in this roadmap will cover everything you need so encase will just be another software to practice with
@@UnixGuy I see it clear now! Thank you 🙏

Hi,
as explained in the video, dont restrict yourself to just forensics, consider soc analyst type roles
comptia dont give you any skills because they’re multiple choice based, please have a browse through my videos, I have cert recommendations and different pathways if forensics isnt accessible to you
I have a Bachelor’s in Forensic Science and Criminal Justice and I’m wanting to transition into digital forensics. I don’t have any experience in tech/LE, but I’m working on my cyber cert through Google. What would be the best route into this field for someone like me? Should I focus on certificates or should I go for a masters in Digital Forensics? Or both?
best is to focus on certs and try to land any cyber or tech role. I dont really recommend masters degrees to anyone
What's a good road path for Exploit Development/Malware Research in terms of career? I was thinking going down the Red Team or Digital Forensics route. I already have a programming background and doing Internship with Splunk.

i dont plan on being a practitioner of cyber forensics. i do however want to develop the skills similar or better than people working in the field. basically i am a guy who studies law, and investigations skills and forensics skills can be incredibly useful for a laywer type of person. i also don't plan on being a practitioner of law either. basically i work in a field of work unrelated to both, but due to how much laws are broken on a regular basis within my field of work i need skills of lawyer and forensics and investigators because i can't simply rely heavily on others in those fields i want to gain as much skill that i have as much as possible to increase my success chances.
so with that said. do you have any advise on good books i can buy off amazon or any other things to study, any programs i need to use etc.? any other ways i can develop strong cyber forensics skills? im more about developing the skills and knowledge more so than a job or a piece of paper saying i have a degree. i just want to be strong in this kinds of catagories of my skill set.
the best way is to do the courses recommended in this video, books are all outdated and not worth the time/money
