- RAKING VS GLAZING GEL ON CURLY HAIR | What method works better? (2c/3a/3b curls)
In today's video I Bring you along to experiment with me for 3 days. I raked the gel on one side of my hair with my hands and brush when styling my curly hair & I glazed the gel on the other part of my hair without using a brush to apply the gel. I wanted to see the differences side by side to better analyze my curls. I was curious as to what curly hair routine would give my hair better curl definition, less frizz, and more longevity.

don't mind me, just commenting so the algorithm notices how great your videos are
Finally ☺ a curly girl who applies product section by section. I find it so hard to believe that one little squirt of stuff is enough for ones head. I have always sectioned off my hair & like you apply product to each area. I need a lot of product & it needs to be on all of my strands. So thank you for showing other curlies an alternative way (or more like the right way🤣) to do it. Also thank you for showing different applications on each side of your head.
Thank you for watching 😀 I feel like everyone’s hair is different. My hair definitely comes out so differently if I apply hair all throughout and don’t section. I might do a video on that soon. I miss so many spots & even when sectioning I feel like I still miss some spots but def more minimal than not sectioning😭😂 but I’m glad we apply product the same way!!! 💕💕
Most people who use less product have thin, fine and less voluminous hair.
I have thick, dense, coarse, voluminous hair so I too need a lot of product.
Oh I’m so jealous 😭 I’m on the opposite end and have really low density hair probably a 3rd of Alexa’s hair so one squirt will do 👀 that’s why I’m so amazed with her hair 😲
@@nancytorres9391
Right Nancy. Her hair is phenomenal❗
@@nancytorres9391 thank you so much! 💕& yesss!! Every density & texture is so different it’s so intriguing how things can vary from person to person.
I don’t know how or why, but your hair just looks better and better each video you make 😍
I learn more and more every time I style!! Thank you so much 💕
@@AlexasCurls you’re welcome 💕
Why is your hair so perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sobbing over how perfect it is.
Thank you so much 🥺💕✨
Your curls are fire on both sides!! You look amazing😊
Thank you so much!! 💕
The raked results are amazing! God gave you ALL the hair. 😂.
Thank you 💕😂💕💕💕💕
I loved the raked side! You have beautiful curls! I'd love to see scrunch vs rake.
Thank you so much & I want to do it!💕
Me too!
Raked side is popping! I love your hair as always. The curls look very defined and knowing that they are less frizzy. You got me when you said it’ll last longer
Thank you! 💕
It's videos like these that give me motivation to actually start taking care of my curls, your hair is beautiful!
Thank you so much 🤗
I absolutely love you and your videos sis! I've watched so many videos all these years but you are coming out with amazing content and I am one of your biggest fans! Love all the way from South Africa❤️✨
Omg hi!! 🥺thank you so much. I’m so happy you’re enjoying my videos 💕💕
The second I saw your curls I mediately subscribe and it was worth it!!!!
I cannot believe how beautiful your curls are!!
Thank you so much 💕💕💕🥺
@@AlexasCurls I wish my hair was thick like yours, my hair is long and really fine so I cannot get that much volume 😕 even if I cut shorter layers on top like you have, because it's so fine, there'd barely be any hair at the longest length...
You are for sure in the top 5 people in this earth for most hair lol! It’s amazing and as beautiful as you are! I truly love learning from you 🙏🏻♥️
Wow. You are seriously the sweetest. Thank you so much 🥺💕💕✨
I really liked the glazing method because your hair looks so voluminous and defined. YOUR HAIR LOOKS REALLY AMAZIIING
Thank you so much!! 💕💕
Oh wow wow 😲 I learned something. I’m a new gel user and couldn’t make up my mind on the best method to apply. I hope you make a video about scrunching vs. racking 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Yes I want to soon! I’m glad you learned something new on how I apply products :)
The amount of hair you have is overwhelming and anxiety inducing....but somehow in the best way possible...ever? 🙃 beautiful
Great video, Alexa!! It’s interesting to see the comparison... also, your curls are looking juicy as heck ❤️
Thank you so much 😀
Loved this video!!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much 💕💕💕
Loved the video! I think you might have put the glazing vs raking the wrong way round on the thumbnail? I was very confused, expecting raking to come out worse!
Your hair looks beautiful.
Thank you for sharing. Lana from Las Vegas
Thank you so much Lana 💕😀
Beautiful hair! ♥️😍
Thank you so much. You’re so sweet 💕💕😊
Ohhh... I'll try raking in the gel on my next wash ❤️
I hope it works out for you too :)
Thanks for the demo. On your hair, I liked the raked side better, but I think there might be some hair types that could do better with the glazed side. Both sides on you looked really nice, but it seemed that you had more defined ringlets on the raked side. BTW, I love UFD. It's my favorite for my hair.
Yes definitely. Everyone’s hair can react differently to rake/glazed & thank you so much. I love UFD SO MUCH TOO!!💕
Wow your hair is amazing 😍
Thank you so much 💝
Your hair is literally SO GORGEOUS IM IN AWE😍😍 have you ever had to transition your hair from damaged to curly or have you worn your curly hair your whole life?
I love and learn so much from every video!!!!! Your curls are beautiful what brush are you using? Also what do use to keep your curls not frizzy overnight while you sleep?
X2
I have coarse thick hair high density and low porosity. When I rake and brush (denam) my 2c hair it has ringlets and more defined. I refresh by day 3/4. I get less frizz and I don’t have to refresh on day 2. If I glaze my hair I miss so many curl clumps and they fall apart or get frizz. My thick hair has to do small sections. Curl by curl.
Yes! When I use raking or if I brush my products in (when damp) I get super stringy curls. I get the juiciest curls when glazing and gently scrunching.
Hmmm now that I think about this glazing does work better on me when my hair is damp. I need to make a video on this soon!
@@AlexasCurls your hair looks pretty incredible regardless of what you do. Lol
Hey Alexa! I enjoyed watching this video, even though I don’t have your hair type.
Thank you for watching😀
Thanks for showing! Just curious - how do you have your hair when going to bed? Do you use a scarf or pineapple style?
I do both lol😅 I will rake, then prayer hands then scrunch:) it’s like it gets very strand then clump it!
firsttt hello!! i love youuu
Hi omg i love you too 💕💕
Both look amazing but you brushed twice on the raked side , I feel the glazed side would have had the same definition if you would have done the second brush 😻
Great informative video!! Your curls are AMAZING and Beautiful!! 😍😍 I’ve always raked in sections myself too. Can you list your three “Holy Grail” products that you used please. Thank you.
Thank you so much. I’m glad it’s informative.
I used the Novex collagen leave in, bounce curl clump and define & uncle funky’s daughter gel 💕
Your curls are beautiful and you get so much volume!
I love your curls!!! Have you ever tried to style your hair without a part? I think it would look really good :)
Yessss I have! Thank you so much :)
Your hair is so pretty!
Thank you so much 🥺💕
Some gels get dry on hair when rakin and not so moisturizing so they give frizz.. so i glaze them bec i get hold of it around every curl while finger coiling them
Agree. Different gels can def give different outcomes!
I think the spirals on your left (our right) came from brushing that side, not necessarily the rake vs. glaze technique...in any case, I prefer the fat spirals you got on the "raked" side.
Thanks so much. Personally I rake the gel with my hands and a brush afterwards when I do this technique. I find it works better since my hair is super dense & coarse. I know some people just rake it in with their hands I need to compare that soon! 💕💕
I rake everything. I don't even own a brush. But I'm old old school.
That’s awesome! 💕
Weirdly I feel that you're reading my mind 🤣🤣
Since yesterday, I've been thinking of only using gel in my next wash day (I want to be lazy, and want to know what happens if I only use gel), but was wondering if I should just scrunch it, or rake it/brush it (with the denman)...so yeah, you're reading my mind 🤣
Hahaha that’s so funny 😂 gel can be used in so many different ways so it’s so interesting. How do you normally apply the gel?
@@AlexasCurls Normally glaze it and scrunch it (because I only put the gel after I styled my hair), so that's why I was wondering if I should rake it (because it's going to be my only product)...so after your video, I think I want to rake it and see how it looks
Got it. I want to try styling my hair with just gel soon. I’m really curious how it’ll react. Do you put some leave in underneath or just the gel?
Hi there when you say "just gel" do you mean just gel or leave in and gel .I use only gel in my hair body leave in no cream occasionally when I want a break from lots of products and it leaves me a little fizzy but I get more compliments on my hair this way .I have course curly hair and lots of it too. I can't wait to try Uncle Funkys!
2nd like let’s go never been this early
Hiii!!! 💕😱
@@AlexasCurls which shampoo do you use?
Glazing, scrunching or raking gel through the hair? to me it depends on your hair, nor right or wrong, just what works for you. Anyways, great video hun x
Agree!!! 💕
@@AlexasCurls By the way, I loved the raking side as well. My curl pattern is similar, so I will give it a try too. But either side, your hair looked great!
my curls are stringy! I hate this look. what should I do to have a clumped curl?
Is your hair balanced with protein and moisture? Also clarifying can help :)
@@AlexasCurls Thank you for your quick reply. How can I detect my hair is balanced with protein???
Scrunch vs rake
How do you wear your hair to sleep please? You have beautiful hair
Thank you so much. I have a nighttime routine. You can watch this video ua-cam.com/video/RQJsQKlxHT8/v-deo.html
Raking seems best
Thank you 😀
The rake side is going to be different because you used a brush to comb thru after raking the gel in so I feel it kinda defeats the purpose of the test. Unless you don't use the brush like the other side...nice hair
Thank you so much! 💕 I guess I just wanted to keep it authentic to how I “raked” the gel into my hair in the past haha. This is how I’ve always applied it because I noticed it disperses the gel into my hair evenly. But it’ll be interesting to try this with no brush on both sides for an experiment. Thanks for the feedback! 💕
Hi!
Hi 😀
Glazed is way better and looks more natural and effortless
Definitely looks more natural!!
I rake everything
I do that because I’m lazy😂🤣🤣🤣
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Hi sweetheart 💕💞😻😍
Hi 😀
