"I thought this was going to be... somewhat of a concept album, something they've yet to pull off." Oh boy, I can't wait for you to hear Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino!!

Also, your reaction is great because it's pretty much most of the fan's reaction at the time. I think this one is a real grower because they just made it to have a 'pretty' sound. This isn't an album to think about. The major keys become a real draw I think compared with the rest of their work which has a lot more minor keys.

Nice reaction, the album is not for everyone and it takes a couple listens to get into it for sure

True, but once you get into it, it's one of their best, just like Humbug or TBHC.

I totally respect your opinion on this album, but I have to strongly disagree on it. I don't know what it is about it but it's my favorite album by them, oddly enough. I definitely do see the things that you bring up though. Great video!

Weirdly, I think the second half of this album is far more interesting than the first, and I agree the content of the songs/lyrics aren’t as interesting but the influence and the songwriting on the second half is what really interests me. Especially the chord progressions, the melodies and the song structures since they’re heavily influenced by 50s music. I think when you look at the acoustic sessions Alex did when promoting this album you can feel the direct influence of 50’s rock and roll and doo-wop on this album, particularly on reckless serenade, love is a laser quest, and pile driver waltz. He does some acoustic covers of patsy cline around this time and you can definitely hear he’s going for a bit of Sam Cooke in his singing style (but nowhere near as good). If you’re not a fan of old school rock and roll and crooning 50s music I can see why you don’t like it, but I’ve got a lot of appreciation for that era since it really was the Fertile Crescent that gave birth to Rock as we know it.

My friend, you should react to the b-sides, it's like a whole new world
I recommend you The Blond-o-Sonic Shimmer Trap, Too Much to Ask(my personal favorite, very melancholic), Joining the Dots, I Haven't Got my Strange, Catapult, Bad Woman and The Afternoon's Hat, these are really really cool

hey me again lol the thing about Alex's lyrics on both Humbug and suck it and See is that it kinda rubs non-british people the wrong way, he uses lots of mannerisms and sayings that are more common over there. And also this was around the time he was getting into some magical realism literature like Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Sonnically, they sound tired of playing rock, they were getting more into RnB and hip-hop, hence the sound of the next album, which is AM. But still, believe me, this album and humbug tend to grow on you like a mf. Still, you getting annoyed at absurd lyrics is so funny that I'm going to suggest you react to my favorite album of all time, Blonde on Blonde by Bob Dylan, and I only expect two things: that you love it, or that you hate it with all your heart, either way its going to be entertaining. Love the channel man

Great reaction dude. If I had to rank their albums in my opinion.
    1.Favourite Worst Nightmare (2007)
    2.Whatever People Say Iam, That's What I'm Not (2006)
    3.Humbug (2009)
4.Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino (2018)
    5.AM (2013)
    6.Suck it and See (2011)
Also whenever you react to Tranquility Base don't take the lyrics seriously. It's a fun album.

I think Alex's relationship with the model Alexa Chung was on a brink of collapse while he was writing this album. That kinda explains the whole sappiness and downtrodden love songs. Nice reaction.

  • @jasoli1749

My theory about the substance to the album is that they are metaphors and representations to the experiences alex turner had when him and his long time girlfriend alexa chung were starting to be on and off in their relationship until they finally broke up for good. Then AM came out.

    • @duvan-solis

@@PASSTHEauxCORD I think you should review over the lyrics, because here the lyrics are clever, metaphoric and romantic. In comparison to AM where it has some flat progression in how the situation are portrait, and well it is just focus on presentation of the vocal rather than thematic cohesion for the track story. Like, read this lyrics without the songs and it's shows how much they can hold out in their own. If you tried this with AM, well, you could get something like let me be your vacuum cleaner.... That's a bit embarrassing out of context.

The songs on this album were actually recorded live all at once because they said they wanted the more vintage and pop sound on this album. I think the reason it didn’t perform as well is because it was their first proper attempt at breaking America so it didn’t attract either Americans or British audiences. However, it definitely grows on you especially if your in the mood for some sappy love songs. I think the silver lining is that every album of theirs is different and I believe this is a good album but when compared with the rest of their discography it doesn’t stand out nearly as much.

Okay this might be an unusual request but I hope you could do a reaction to Taylor Swift's new surprise album 'folklore'. It's an absolute masterpiece, it features Bon Iver, she worked with Aaron Dessner from The National and it really showcases her talent as a lyricist. It's a lot more mature than her usual stuff and it's even categorized as 'alternative' so I think you'll actually really like it!

It reminds me a bit from the beatles they never do something similar from their last album.
