The reason you don't go instantly from bright (processed) blonde to brown is because the basic natural pigments have been removed via bleaching. The hair must be filled first to prevent weird colors (green, purple, etc) from the end result.

I let the conditioner sit on dry hair for 4-5 hours. It leaves it very soft and vibrant for a couple weeks.

Yes I was just coming here to say that’s probably why they tell you not to use it in bleached hair. It’ll be a very hollow looking brown
