Totally agree with comments regarding outdoor testing, the problem being is that most club suppliers/shops/pros don't or can't accommodate this. Especially true regarding irons where the best you might be offered is a demo 7 iron.
Spot on with taking it on course. Years ago I had a full bag fitting, the new irons had a lighter shaft. I hit them great in the fitting (went multiple times) but being 20 grams lighter, when I got on course my timing was completely out. Tempo was horrible and just couldn’t make them work and I was playing off scratch at the time.
Love the new Mic placement! haha, as a fellow video creator I understand the struggle! helped the swing swoosh sound for sure. might be useful to do a little EQ to sharpen it up a touch but it works!
Great technical review. I've been using second hand drivers since I started golf a couple of years ago and feel like this might be the year I pull the trigger on a brand new club. Cobra is looking like the best so far. LTD X MAX MY UNICORN LS COBRA
I bought the new LTDx LS Driver and 3w this year. Couldn’t be happier. I’ve always had issues with high spin on my drivers (even when hitting up on the ball), but not with this driver. The 3w is a bomber.
Really impressed with how these were performing. I got fit into a cobra putter with the SIK face and it is such a good club. Currnetly have a sim 2 so I would be keen to try the LTDx and LS model. Cobra underrated as ever with their woods.
I hit my new driver about 10 yds farther indoors. Took it on course and got 20 to 40 yds more. I think part of it is that I tee much higher on course and I just don't like hitting off mats.
I think it’s really important to get a club on the course. I got fit into a TM Sim2 and hit it phenomenally in my fitting. Almost touched 180 ball speed and had a tight pattern. When I got it I couldn’t keep it on the planet. Had to get rid of it in a month. I think during fittings you can get into a groove with a club or just get a timing down for it. On course is different. You’re waiting between shots and playing different shots.
Yea, I almost don't care to get fitted on a monitor unless there's a way to hide the data until I'm done - it's too distracting. Rather just hit balls to various targets on the range and narrow the purchase down to what feels best and seems to fly reasonably well. Using the club on the course for at least a few holes is definitely preferred, as you're likely spending over 500 nowadays. Too bad on course trial or fitting is not an option at most places
“Hitting it good repeatedly” isn’t how you should check dispersion. To be checking the misses, you gotta hit enough until you hit a few that are your common misses and see what the ball does.
@@adamseidel9780 I’m saying you can get in a groove with a driver where you may hit 30 balls in a row and your dispersion is really tight and it’s not truly representative of how it will preform for you out on the course. Plus on a range or bay when you “miss” it’s not as drastic as the miss on course.
I’ve now watched 2 review videos on these drivers from 2 different reviewers and the thing I notice in both is that I really like the sound of these drivers. At least I like how they sound in my headphones. I’ll be interested to hear them in person. As a contrast I really didn’t like the sound of the Stealth.
So important, I got a new driver and took it straight to the range with my current driver and wasn't impressed. After 2 rounds I quickly sold the old driver. You see the flights, rolls and shapes of your shots on the course in comparison to what you are used to, where your drives normally land etc.
Indoor testing/fitting for me especially as a consumer always seems drawn towards your best shots. I know from experience most of my good shots with multiple brands of driver will produce very similar results. I’d want to be shown the miss hits that fit my patterns (for me high toe strikes) and see what that driver produces in a fitting against another. These always seem to be taken away from me. If one produces calmer results to another then that may fit me best. Not just the “good” shots. Then take the clubs outdoor and test again and see if results repeat themselves. Cheers bruh!
I've tested every new release of 2022 and LTD X was by far the best driver of them all! Straight, high, fast ballspeeds, repeatable. Have not hit a driver this neutral since G400 Max! Truly a 🦄 for me! Can't wait for the season to start!
I use an LTDx LS and has been a game changer. I also have an extremely fast swing speed and ended up with an 70g shaft. Bombing drives with my average being bumped up to 310 from 260 compared to an older callaway and with much more accuracy
Testing outdoors for sure, I’m certain that some people tweak the figures to inflate the egos of the customer, giving them faster club head and ball speeds. You play golf on the course, that’s where testing and fitting should be done. Cobra is miles ahead for us weekend warriors for reading the room and giving value for money. Cobra rocks.
I LOVE that you take them out on course, Mark. Well said on us having different emotions towards them when we're out there. Love to get the true sound and feel for flights and actual playability.
I have the opposite problem from what you mentioned. I'm terrible in the bay, so playing on the course is a must for me to make a solid decision. That said, I just bought an LTDx and can't wait to get it assembled
I have to say that I prefer to hit on the course or the range. I spent a bunch of time on the sim this winter and I was playing quite a pronounced draw. I could play for it, but I was struggling to hit straight or with a fade. In early days, I hit a fade. Once it was warm enough to hit outdoors on the range, my draw was far less pronounced and I was hitting far more straight shots and even the odd light fade. As a side note, my LTDx LS is due to arrive today.
I completely get your point about testing outdoors. I would love to do it for each club I buy. That's how it should be. But realistically, how many places out there will allow you to do that? Which fitter will build a club to your specs to try for just a round or two?
Mark thanks for the thought about bringing a club out to the course. I’m not sure how the retailers in Europe work, but here in the US we get 90 days to try it. You can return free of charge and get credit towards something else.
You tube hasn’t been sharing your videos with me for the last 2 weeks at least. And golf and acoustic guitars are the only things I subscribe to lol. I’m glad I remembered you. Love your channel
ive watched all your vids comparing taylormade, callaway and cobra from 2019 to present. Seems like these new cobras you hit the longest incl your current driver. congrats and keep up the good work.
I just buy drivers online, the price is my main concern so Cobra has kept me happy in that sense. I also like the idea of having the same club for a longer period of time so I can be comfortable with it. I buy a new driver around every 4+ years and usually buy the previous years model to save further.
re indoor vs outdoor: Indoor, IMO, is a starting point but since many clubfitters/makers do not actually have an indoor set up w Trackman etc, the outdoor test is even that more important! When u are playing on a course, u only have one ball to hit to make the shot vs on a range vs indoors! When I make a club for someone, I give it to them to play with at least 3x on the course (my golf business is not my primary occupation). I do not have the knowledge someone like yourself or others incl James Robinson or TXG staff have but I did go to Golfsmiths Training facility in Austin, Texas for training.....sadly, they are no more!
One of the rings I do is to test clubs on an open outside range. There are some clubs also that get demo versions - for instance I just tested the stealth that way at my club for several holes and just fyi ruled it out compared even to my own current one - distance difference minimal- dispersion difference huge with the stealth being all over the place and large drop offs when hit on toe or heel side. As a leftie even more difficult to find options but hope to try the rogue st and the ltdx at some point. I never buy without trying outside. Then you can hone in of correct shaft, loft and length etc. once you hone in on the right head. Look feel sound all become part of your final choice too.
I have the 2021 Rad xb driver. Yesterday at the range what I thought was a really good swing, I hit the ball so far on the toe, if went any further I would have missed the ball, but, the ball flew straight, although a bit low, still got out there to a satisfactory yardage. I bought this driver in August, and will keep until it breaks, if it ever does. Great test as usual.
The annoying thing for me is that retail prices for drivers is so much higher in Oz. The TM Stealth in $999-1099 Au. It is hard to find a price for the Ping 425 or Titleist TSi range online. ( assume still quite high) Last years models from TM ( Sim2) are $695, Callaway $695, Cobra Radspeed $569, Tour Edge C721 $699, Wilson D9 $549., Srixon ZX5/7 $ 535. The best bang for buck in the current models is the Cleveland XL Launcher $431. If you don't mind saving cash, it makes sense to buy a run out model.
I think that on-course testing is more important than indoor testing. You need to be able to see if the shots that you I imagine, or visualize, actually do materialize in playing conditions. Cobra has been my "go to" brand and I would be hard pressed to switch brands. Cobra is innovative and stylish while performing beautifully. Thanks for all the hard work that you put into your videos. I really look forward to your reviews and other thoughtful golf content.
The standard deviation of shot data is often overlooked in launch monitor data, but I believe it reflects more when testing indoors. The smaller variations seems to correlate to repeatability and on course confidence.
I agree the delete button isn't used too much when fitting to give an untrue result. Also do you feel because swinging inside quickly players swing speed increases slightly again giving fake result and incorrect shaft
Hi Mark, I like the look of Cobra and Rogue Drivers WHY I have no clue. I borrowed a +4 golfers Driver the Rogue set to draw AND!! Well with a very strong wind left to right on the range some were to the right not by much and some left again not by much BUT all cleared 200 post before landing. As a player off 20 on the W.H.S. I want to buy one but not at £425 pound but if it works on course 4 rounds x 15 times per round per week it may be a very good investment . Great videos and I look forward to those pairs matches you play . P.S. Do not like Rogue headcover Paul
Love this channel, but you've got to replace the battery in that smoke detector, been walking around the house looking for which one is beeping, eventually figured out it's coming from your video (like at 11:35) - lol
Completely agree with you on not knowing a cluc until it is out on the course. These drivers look good, but not sure the feel is that much better than the new driver from last year - but keep at me, because reviews are still nice to see (just to look at the pretty shiny things). "LTD X MAX MY UNICORN LS COBRA" 🦄
Great review, just checked online the first seller I clicked on had them up at £399. Which on the face of it looks to be great value against the other manufacturers latest offerings.
Picked up a Speedzone driver in the right spec for me, new, just after the RAD came out. £250. Cracking club, especially at that price. Literally nothing this year is catching my eye.
Tested the Unicorn & Max drivers today. Didn't hit my own driver well. Spinning around 3300rpm. Both LTDx Spinning around 2500rpm. My driver usually spins around 2500rpm, so surprised by the data? Didn't commit, at least not yet!
Great video as always Mark! Love it! Very British and very enjoyable. I game the Cobra Speedzone driver from a couple of years ago and absolutely love it… but wouldn’t dream of replacing it with either the Radspeed of 2021 or now the LTD of 2022. They’re all great drivers and pretty much all the same. I do enjoy your general scepticism of the marketing bumpf whenever a new product hits the market.
Fitting outdoors 100% I found it indoors is never like a reality I hit pretty straight indoors , but I'm a slicer outdoors :) go figure. Love Cobra drivers ! Wish my mishits were like yours , mine mishit is lost ball :)
Like the mix of internal data and real life course . Would be interested in rather than just comparing to other new models, but perhaps the last two cobra models to see what the new tech produces. Surely we must be at the limits now of large improvements between years?
Hi Mark! Great video. I think you are spot on. If we were testing at our local course (not on a launch monitor) we would not buy new clubs….gains are not there. I think your point on indoor testing is spot on. Delete this, take that out….getting 2% gain on average. But we would never see that with 14 drives in a round when we only get one swing at a time to make it perfect. Great topic.
Great mic placement, love your insights about on course play. I play and F8+ and I have been fitted twice for a new driver and my old F8+ hold up so well it hasn’t made sense to upgrade. Perhaps the LS is the one?
Ltd max my unicorn lD cobra / to damn long by the way but very interesting line up of drivers, I’m in the market for a driver this year , going to be fun picking hairs and choosing one! Between this callaway taylormade or maybe save money on last years models argh!!!!
Looks a great club. I play golf on a course not in a bay. U have to test on a course. Great vid Mark. I’m looking for a new driver. Cobra deffo in the running
It's vital to get put on the course. It was common place 30+ years ago, club Pro would be ok. But rare now. My club Pro doesn't carry all makes, so I couldn't take the Cobra out on my course, sadly
LTD X Max My Unicorn LS Cobra - do I win this driver now? I like the looks of this driver but for now, my 2016 Callaway XR will continue to be my gamer. Good review as always.
Another great video, great looking club at a great price....I bought the Radspeed fairway last yr and will be looking at a new driver this year to replace my Nike Vapor. Would be good to see you do a comparison video on all the new drivers out this year... Callaway, Taylor Made, Cobra, Srixon, Titleist
LTD X MAX MY UNICORN LS COBRA Great review mate. I am in the market for a new driver, I am looking forward to having a go at this when it hits Australia!
Always try outside over a few days and test different shaft options with usual golf ball. I know what I play and normal landing zones. I don’t track distances but more how does the driver look next ball, ball flights and feel. Looking for stability for those off centre strikes - does the ball get out there? Top looks so taylormade-like. Uncanny!
I tried the rad and the one before and I really don’t like the milled face it brings out some random strange strikes. Also I can’t hit driver out of club fitting rooms or matt bays on driving ranges. I’d HAVE to have an outdoor fitting off wooden tees for a driver.
On the course, outside in different conditions not just weather but decent tee box, pace of play, nerves big time, and the fact it's that first shot off the tee, not second third fourth, no muligans, lol. I would get faster in my rythm on the course from adrenalin or nerves than at the driving range or hitting in the store. Data is interesting, maybe Cobra should have calls this driver the Data Plus or something. Somebody made a golf club called Data I think, maybe it was Daiwa. Nice strikes!
The video I think most people want to see is your “good old fashioned compare” Stealth VS new Cobra VS new Callaway. 2022 driver show down.. that should get a LOT of views :)
Awesome video. Would love to have one of the new drivers but I can't imagine it will help my game enough to fork over that much money on it. "LTD X MAX MY UNICORN LS COBRA"
LTD X MAX MY UNICORN LS COBRA... getting out on the course to test a new club is almost as important as searching your channel for the review of it first.
After watching this with anticipation of you reaching the green at the end ah not reached, i went back to your review of the ping 425 last yeay and it is still the best driver for me, i think you would reach that green with the max 😀
Mark, I find that changing the hozel to a draw setting made more difference than moving weights. What are your thoughts on how players subconsciously compensate for a change in weight compared to a slightly closed face?
Mark, would you say this head is a better performer then the Callaway Mavrik ? I am seeing lower ball speeds with the new Callaway's . Which is the most muted Cobra or Callaway ?
I enjoy your club testing, I have a pretty low swing speed and don’t know which driver gives me the best distance, anyway you could show us short distance hitters which driver suits us more for distance?
Would love to see a comparison between G425 and G30. I’ve played both and saw only 1-2m difference. Only problem I had was the sound of G425 (hated it).
Hi Mark. I'm in the market for a new driver, last driver I had was Cobra F7 but the shaft snapped (not anger related). As an 18hcp would you say that there is a big enough leap from the Cobra Rad Speed to these new drivers (or any of the new drivers compared to last years model)? I would like to be fitted for the club but if I can save £150 and get a wedge as well, for example, would I be missing out?
Hey Mark good stuff ass usual. I looked back at the video you did with the rapspeed and the numbers look very similar to the ltdx. Its hard to get a ltd to test due to the new line dropping and I am gaming the rapseed. Is there enough improvement to make the jump in you opinion? Only reason I am considering is because fo the price drop of the LTD. Thank you!!!
Good to hear the MOI is 5200. I remember in the past drivers were 5000, then suddenly ping comes along saying the g425 has MOI of 10000! The usga & ra limit is 5900 g/cm² Would be good if driver spec included MOI g/cm².
I've been playing the F9 (which only had one version) for years i'd love to test these with you especially the draw version, as I have a fade without wanting one to, see if there is any benefit
I’m much worse indoors for some reason. If the numbers are ok on the simulator generally it will be better on course. Not sure if that’s down to the pressure of being watched by a pro or hitting ball after ball is the cause of the issue to be honest 🤷♂️

The mic collected more “bag clatter” than voice. I don’t recommend this placement.

Original LTD was a brilliant driver, and touted Zero CG. Hidden in the tech bit on the X was a "Zero CG/ high MOI" tagline... exciting
I like to see the ball flight outside and the sound is a big tick for me. I think it will have to be an amazing driver to dethrone my epic speed.
Great video mark you have to account for wind cold weather making the ball going less rather that when your in your golf sim
The new drivers look good, I also love the Z Star divide. Are you going to start gaming those or were they part of the test also?
Ltd max my unicorn lD cobra / to damn long by the way but very interesting line up of drivers, I’m in the market for a driver this year , going to be fun picking hairs and choosing one! Between this callaway taylormade or maybe save money on last years models argh!!!!
Mark such a great video. Love watching you go for it and then explain what you seeing. You will get there brah!
I’m leaning LTDx standard in the blue finish, but then again LTD X MAX MY UNICORN LS COBRA.
LTD X Max My Unicorn LS Cobra - do I win this driver now? I like the looks of this driver but for now, my 2016 Callaway XR will continue to be my gamer. Good review as always.
Great video content as always! 👊
Just to let you know, 8:33 to 8:46 is a silent black screen, Mark..
LTD X MAX MY UNICORN LS COBRA
Always good and honest reviews, I’ll keep the current cobra I’m playing though
How does the LTDx compare to the RADSPEED? Worth upgrading?
Mark, which driver have you been most impressed with out of Callaway, Taylormade and Cobra?
All good. Go test bruh 👍
I feel boxed in in the fitting bay. I hit some terrible driver shots in the bay where as outdoors I feel more free and can hit better.
Love to give this a go. But taking any club out on a course I’ve always found almost impossible to be allowed to do. I’m Italy it’s impossible
Does anyone else feel worn out after watching someone swing away? Good effort, Mark! 😁 LTD X MAX MY UNICORN LS COBRA
Mark, would you say this head is a better performer then the Callaway Mavrik ? I am seeing lower ball speeds with the new Callaway's . Which is the most muted Cobra or Callaway ?
Imperative to test on course. Trick is finding a vendor that is awesome enough to let you 😬😬👍🏽
Can you please test the Cobra LTDx LS vs the Callaway Rogue ST Max LS. Those are the 2 drivers that I’m looking at for a 2022 purchase.
There's a black screen at 08:35, just in case it's an error.
I’m glad it wasn’t just me! I had to rewind the video 3 times just to make sure it wasn’t me 🤦♂️
I enjoy your club testing, I have a pretty low swing speed and don’t know which driver gives me the best distance, anyway you could show us short distance hitters which driver suits us more for distance?
How does the general consumer get several new clubs out on the course to test? I think that would be best, but don’t see that as an option.
What shaft did you have on each club?
could you not change the loft on the ls to bring the spin up a little bit??
Would love to see a comparison between G425 and G30. I’ve played both and saw only 1-2m difference. Only problem I had was the sound of G425 (hated it).
Took features from all the major brands and put in 1 driver. Pretty cool
I like all your testing with the latest drivers , could you test shafts with these heads to see the difference please
Mark, what was your distance ratio from indoors to outdoors in those UK winter conditions?
is it possible to get a shiny new thing out on a course before forking out 500 quid??
Hey Mark good stuff ass usual. I looked back at the video you did with the rapspeed and the numbers look very similar to the ltdx. Its hard to get a ltd to test due to the new line dropping and I am gaming the rapseed. Is there enough improvement to make the jump in you opinion? Only reason I am considering is because fo the price drop of the LTD. Thank you!!!
Good to hear the MOI is 5200. I remember in the past drivers were 5000, then suddenly ping comes along saying the g425 has MOI of 10000! The usga & ra limit is 5900 g/cm²
Would be good if driver spec included MOI g/cm².
But remember the limits where tested to show no difference between around 4700 to 5900. Don’t quote me on those exact numbers. 👍
@@MarkCrossfield didnt come across that tidit until now, thanks!
Those new white/yellow Z-Star divides look killer
I’m not sure it has to do with data as much as it has to do with your swing in the bay/on the range/in a fitting versus out on the course.
