I am slowly reading throught the Penric and Desdemona series, so I tried not to pay too much attention to what you said about Demon Daughter (I might get to it at the end of the year, or possibly next year), except that you loved it. I'm quite eager to continue with this series!
I just found UA-cam channel and I feel so blessed It is so hard these days to find a booktube channels that I love, because UA-cam most often recommends people who have a lot of views and usually read TikTok popular books And it is just not my preferred style of books And to on top of that, to get in a bundle deal with you being so lovely
I already went out on a limb ahead of this video and gave 5 stars to “Demon Daughter”. I’m not usually so quick to award 5 stars, but so far I don’t regret it. I vaguely wondered about “We Are Legion” in the past, but still haven’t tried it, and your verdict sounds plausible.
I also loved the first half of the first book of Bob. I also enjoyed the second half. What got me was that none of the opened plot lines with all the Bobs felt done by the end of the first book. I even go so far as to say it's an incomplete book, as it actually has no ending. I know this is generally done so I would go on to read the second book, but it was done so badly here that I refuse to read onward (even though my husband got the sequels, so I own them XD )
I’ve been slowly working my way into Penric and Desdemona; recently finished Penric’s Fox! It’s a fun series; like most of Bujold’s work, woven all through it is this sense of… I don’t know. Irritated compassion? Humanitarianism? People-can-be-cruel-or-apathetic-and-when-they-are-it’s-such-a-WASTE-and-when-they-aren’t-it-is-a-triumph-because-it-*is*-hard-ism? Whatever you call it, Terry Pratchett has it too, and it’s an attitude I appreciate. :) I might give We Are Legion and Fluency a try; the first because it sounds interesting, and the second because it sounds like it hits a bunch of tropes I like + maybe I can treat it as a lesson in what *not* to do when writing romance. 😂
I love historical fiction, my all-time fav is The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave 5☆+5♡ My best two books of the year are steamy historical romances with some magic, they are A Marvelous Light and A Restless Truth by Freya Marske, they are in a series but I read book 2 first and it didn't matter bc they are seperate enough. There is a math based horror anthology coming out on pi day, it's called Arithmophobia, it has 13 short stories and a poem written in the Fibonacci sequence
Dang, shame you had such a mid reading month! yeah, I was a bit let down by Ruthless Vows too. It felt like Ross couldn't decide whether to focus more on the romance or more on the fantasy, so both just sort of seemed underwhelming? I wish it either really pushed on the book being a parallel to the first with Roman's amnesia and the romance, or more on the war itself.
🦩So many books! 📚📚📚📚
I'm so sorry to hear that your reading month was a bummer!🥴
I wish you very good luck with better books in the future! 🍀🤞
Definitely sad that this video didn't have big wins, but my recent reading (since filming this video) is already going so much better!

Demon Daughter was so good!

Haha yeah that's also how I felt at the end of the second book

Also just finished Ruthless Vows. Essentially felt the same as you. I gave Divine Rivals 5 stars and Ruthless Vows 3.75 stars
