    The song made them pop stars, here in France. Before that, Gainsbourg was less popular as an artist, and he would write a lot for other artists.
    The whole album is very good, also thanks to the british musicians who helped arranged and played on it. Gainsbourg mostly used british musicians, from the mid sixties until the late seventies.
    Btw even spending her life in France since meeting Gainsbourg, Jane always kept her strong british accent, which french people loved. 😉

    The song got much airplay on the radio in the USA, at least in the city where I lived. Likely it may have been censored in some religious areas, as many records were at the time. So funny you checking your French pronunciation 🤣
