nice video. The TPMS were spawned from the nation wide tire recall from Firestone. After multiple rollover deaths from low tire pressures Firestone replaced millions of tires. Firestone blame under inflated tires, Ford blame tire defect. In the end recommendation were made to NTSB and new rules were created that all new cars had to have TPMS. I only remember because i got a free set of replacement tires.

~@8:12 On some TPMS you need to get the # off the side of it, put it in a scanner and actually program it per wheel. I bought 2 TPMS sensors w/Metal Stem for a spare full-size tire. The sensors are pre-programmed, so I think I need to do steps described above ~@8:12. But those sensors have 2 numbers on each which are different for sensor 1 and sensor 2. How I know which # to enter into the scanner? Thank you for very informative film. Always wanted to know, why mechanics don't like that Fix a Flat. In Dallas at Nissan Dealer they even have policy to replace the tire (regardless of the damage) if you put that stuff in it. Thank you again.

Thanks for the video....Which models are the easier to replace. Some brands are so dam cheap, just show you have a low tire... so good luck in figure out which one going down the road. I keep a temp gun to read my tires in these times. Gmc trucks shows each tire and its status and pressure for the individual tires.. Thanks GM. Then GM makes the darn engine air filters with so many long screws and cross members to remove, just to change the filter. Kia makes it so simple in this case.
Enjoy the video... I do not use the inflator stuff, period.

I used to change tires a few years ago. One time, person came in with this situation, a flat, and filled the tire with that junk. Didn't say anything. Put the tire and rim between the bead breaker and the spoon of the breaker hit the rim causing a couple sparks... that's all it took. A huge ball of flame, the sidewall of the tire ripping the tire machine from it's mounting bolts in the concrete floor and moving the tire machine about 5 feet. This stuff is no joke. After that, our shop hung signs everywhere warning customers.

Yup yup. Was in a bad accident in an SUV when the tire exploded an hour after driving, after using that stuff. Nearly went off the side of a bridge on an overpass after it spun us a couple times and threw us, passenger side windows first, into the cement ledge. The tire itself hit a car's hood on the opposite side of the interstate even though we were on a bridge and a dropoff separated the opposing traffic. The rim was never found. (Was a factory, not fancy rim).
Will NEVER touch that stuff again, and I tell people how dangerous that stuff is. My kids still have scar tissue knots on head and face. It was late and we were just trying to get the kids home so they could get to bed. There was a nail in the tire that should have gotten patched up instead for us to make it home, and then changed the next day, but wasn't. Yup yup.

good job, I’m from the old-school an old-school mechanic and I grew up he had the common sense to get out look at your tires you don’t have to have them shop on your dashboard so you got a low tire I think it’s just ridiculous that you know it’s $100 a pop for a sensor in your tire to tell someone their tires low instead of them looking at their tire before they go for a drive everything‘s for lazy people and electronic today just like no dipstick on lotta cars oh it’s electronic on the dashboard it’s just more stuff to break more stuff to pay for it’s just a sellers gimmick old-school is better simpler easier more reliable every time every stinking time guarantee

Can't see why it matters when I think a sealant is flammable and it is Not flammable, only the opposite matters. If I assume all are flammable then I'll protect myself from fire damage. Why trust something is not flammable that says it is not flammable? You're welcome.

Working at a tire shop I like the indirect TPMS systems the best. The ones that use the wheel speed senor to monitor the rolling diameter of the tire and can tell you that you have a low tire if its low enough and if you drive on it long enough. GM used that style in the early 2000's with the lesabres and stuff. i like those better bc all you have to do is set the air and hold the button down on the dash, or some you have to go thru the nav menu and put in recalibrate mode. I guess in one way owning a car with that system is better bc you dont have to worry about ever buying sensors but they dont always work that well bc if all 4 tires are low sometimes it wont tell you. it also wont tell you until you drive. so if you have a right rear tire lose air overnight, the tire light wont come on until you are about a mile away from home, and after putting on new tires you may have to reset it a few times for it to adjust to the new diameter of tire since they have new tread.
