For those familiar with Indian languages, "Nakhon Si Thammarat" is the Pali way of saying: "Nagara Sri Dharmaraja" - Nagara = village, town Sri = attractive, Dharmaraja = Raja (rule) of Dharma ("religion") :-)
Thanks 4 the translation. The Thai, the Siam, the Burmese share the same ancient language. Because of immigrants from other region, it changed the origin of culture and its language.
Paddy you need to stop being so hard on yourself. We all have those days mate. Celebrate the fact that you get up every day and make shit happen. Thats all the matters. If you're happy we are happy and thats the way it will always be. Keep going mate :)
The sign on the bridge has three lines of text. The top line "สะพานบ้านคีรีวง" (Saphan Ban Kiriwong) is the name of the bridge, which can be translated into English as "Kiriwong Village Bridge". The middle line "คลองท่าดี" (Khlong Tha Dee) is the name of the stream across which the bridge spans. Finally, the bottom line "กรมโยธาธิการ พ.ศ. ๒๕๓๕" can be translated into English as "Department of Public Works, B.E. 2535" B.E. stands for Buddhist Era, and B.E. 2535 corresponds to C.E. 1992, the year in which the bridge was built.
Enjoy your friends and don't worry about us! How often do you actually get to meet up with old mates? So come on now, it's alright! 😊 I hope Sparky is okay.... And be careful talking about other bikes when you are riding Dreamy... She might get jealous and buck you off! 😆😜
You’re having fun…that’s the important part…as for the San Lak Mueang ‘shrine’ which those structures would more aptly be called every city will pretty much have a San Lak Mueang …it’s the place where the city was first created way back when…by placing a large and or sometimes smaller pillar’ of wood , usually ‘acacia’, into the ground standing straight up so everyone could come and say prayers for the new city…over time some ‘pillars’ have been replaced by former Kings as well as officials and the old ‘pillar’ will still remain on site perhaps in another shrine along with the earlier one…you may also see and hear people drive by this location and beep their horn for good luck as they pass by on motorbikes and cars etc…
Awesome video and delighted that Sparky still lives! Our red Spark is still going strong but admittedly we haven't used it as much as you have. When you get around to stopping by Chiang Mai next time, maybe do a collaboration with a few of your fellow Brits in Thailand Brett Dev and Ash Pemberton.
Nice to see you in Nakonsi 😁 Oh, I miss Kopi coffee. Kiriwong was partially flooded when I was there a few years ago, we were advised to park the car near town, I remember a cool place with a guy making Batik shirts and the fresh air feeling there. Anyway, great to see someone getting off the beaten path.
Relax… you are filming adventures that are taking us places we may not go to or new places to put on our list... It’s fun to have your friends, along. They were troopers to stick it out in the rain with you
4.12 minutes when you park your car, you should enter because it is a holy land, it is recommended to go to the very holy city pillar If you know the history of building the city pillar of Nakhon Si Thammarat province, it will be amazing 🇹🇭
That dumpling is shao mai, a popular dim sum dish.and that soup dish with the enoki mushroom looks like shabu shabu or some chines medicinal soup.. It is so nice to ride around in a country like Thailand but do be forewarned, the roads are treacherous in the hilly areas when it rains. I learned it the hard way.
Those dumplings and soup looked delicious, you're making me change my lunch plans lol. Very sweet couple you hung out with too. Sometimes people don't want to be on camera so its not really you needing to be better at filming with friends. Totally understandable when you want to live in the moment when you actually get to hang with friends instead of film. Especially since you spend so much time alone on your journey.
It’s ok that you don’t know what’s going on, because this is an adventure. You’ll learn as you go, or learn it from the comments as soon as your audience see your video. Don’t listen to the people who criticize you, this is your way of adventures and we love it. So the place you thought it was half temple half pagoda is called …San Lak Mueng . It’s a place most Thai would go visit for good luck. Almost like a midtown monument/park. In Thai old culture each important city will have a historical place like this. They also believed that there are bodies of good people buried alive in the ground when they build it. Their spirits will stay there to protect the land.
Loving the videos Paddy! Keeping me sane!! For 15 months I've been stuck outside of Thailand after mistakenly visiting the UK in early March 2020 😂You're living the life I want to be living. Would love to meet up in Thailand later in the year. Keep up the vids, I've been watching them all!!
Paddy, once your non-waterproof electrical equipment getting wet, the 1'st thing to do is to remove the battery and let it dry. It may increase the chances of your equipment surviving.
my wife and in-laws are from nakhon si-thammaret , the raw - Ness and beauty has to be seen to be believed . I miss this place very much and cannot wait to get back early next year 👀🙏
Hiya Paddy, always great content. Nearly at 30K. I wish you more subscribers. Your channel is great. Thanks for sharing your day. Always good vibes. Have a great Thursday. Safe travels.
Sawadee kah…..glad you were able to meet up with an old friend!! Love watching this vlog and all of your adventures Paddy! Thanks for sharing:) Also glad I was able to catch your livestream earlier 😉
Observation: At times, your selection of background music really summarizes the situation ( or mood) of the video clip you have chosen as part of your program. 👍🏼
It may well be it all just would have turned out nicely if you would have had invited the boys who brought back your drone for a drink ;-) ... anyway like your videos... keep it up Paddy....❤Thailand
I like it how you try your best to pronounce the thai words and name. Although many spelling of the names, towns and places from thai to English is not exactly the way it should be. Because there are 44 alphabets in the language.
I know you’re a bit of a foodie but do you never get cravings for a bowl of Kellogg’s or a bowl of porridge with some biscoff spread mixed in? I think I’d find it difficult eating soup for breakfast all the time.
@Mit Lit- I was thinking the same thing! I was hoping that Paddy gave those kids a little tip for retrieving the drone. Enough money to get a snack like ice cream or a candy bar.
I actually thought this one was of your better videos! I love seeing your interaction with friends. Paddy, I have to ask though: why do you keep saying hello like a Thai school girl? It's very weird..!
did u ride this honda from northern thailand to here, one person alone? thumb up man, especially you dare travel @ such uncertain pendemic timing, BTW can u also mention a little on where u sleep n what its cost, ty
That little bit of sit-up understeer, and straight ahead vagueness, on the Honda....I would definitely be off it! (Getting your gear dry in a humid place is difficult. It can be as hot as hell, but the water just doesn't evaporate).
Im not being at all negative Paddy, but I'm very curious to know ... Thailand is basically in a huge tourist shutdown riga mortis due to covid and hundreds of thousands of businesses closed and millions of Thai people out of work especially in the tourist areas .. Yet I see many many WESTERN VLOGGERS travelling around Thailand without a care in the world. What's the true story of tourism in the current Thailand??? X-Xpat. Thank you Paddy. Keep up the great work!
With rainy season coming, you may get wet for weeks. Perhaps switch to a TukTuk? Anyone who has followed you for a while knows you now have extensive TukTuk experience!
Sparky lives!! (well kinda reincarnated) Check my Instagram - instagram.com/paddydoyleofficial/
Congrats!!! Sparky, you go girl!!!
That’s great! So happy she made it!!
Hope you paid the kiddos since they got it for you! Btw, saying Sawadee Kaa all the time implies your a ladyboy or playboy. :)
4:26 is Nakhon Si Thammarat City Pillar Shire😊 FYI
For those familiar with Indian languages, "Nakhon Si Thammarat" is the Pali way of saying: "Nagara Sri Dharmaraja" - Nagara = village, town Sri = attractive, Dharmaraja = Raja (rule) of Dharma ("religion") :-)
I think, you are right. Thai borrowed tons of words from Bali Sanskrit. Original Thai language is quite the same as Laos and Dai.
Nagara = city or town.
Dharmaraja= the king who has dharma (virtue codes of moral). Nakhon Si Thammarat is meaning “ The City Of The King Who Has Virtue “.
Thanks 4 the translation. The Thai, the Siam, the Burmese share the same ancient language. Because of immigrants from other region, it changed the origin of culture and its language.
@@kitty4k9 The Burmese language is Sino-Tibetan,The Thai,Siam they are the same group of people.

Mod is so beautiful. Sam is a lucky man.
She is a proper lovely Thai lady, and Sam is a lucky guy.
I am ^_^

Thank you.. I was trying to read amd translate.... 😜😅
We know friends are important Paddy, just be yourself. We keep watching because you're real and we enjoy the natural flow of your videos 😉
Enjoy your friends and don't worry about us! How often do you actually get to meet up with old mates? So come on now, it's alright! 😊
I hope Sparky is okay.... And be careful talking about other bikes when you are riding Dreamy... She might get jealous and buck you off! 😆😜
much better place to visit than just another beach setting. really nice mountain trip
I could go for a bowl of mushroom soup this morning with a Thai view!
How lovely! It’s 7 am here.
A wet but fun one, Paddy. No need for bike envy, you've got the right tool for the job, Dreamy is perfect. also, 18:48 that's what she said....

Wow, amazing to see my favourite ขนมจีน restaurant on UA-cam!

Paddy, I hope you gave that wee Thai boy a few baht for resuscitating Sparky 😎
Don’t worry when you are with friends. They took the time to meet up with you. Enjoy your time with them!
Sitting on my desk right next to me is a mini drone (Emotion) that I have never used. If I can get a way to ship it to you it is yours.
Where do I ship it to Paddy?
I love Kiriwong Valley.
Video is nice, do not worry about it.
Yes...ka-nom-jeen is a thai dish nooddle with curry sauce and vegetables . North, south, east and central has it's own curry to go with.
Could have given the Kid a little reward for getting your drone ya tight git 😉
That's what I thought. 100 Baht would have been nice.
Me too..... That's so english touristy.
Sometime they do for nothing just help.
Typical English mentality…so so
So tight them brits and u carry an Irish name🇮🇪 Shame On you
Fuckin’ A, right? Unbelievable. Shameful.
Nice to see you in Nakonsi 😁

Oh wow!
I'm glad that little boy didn't expect a tip for getting the drone out. That briefly restored my faith in humanity lol
He may not have expected one but he certainly should have got one!!!
Sure the boy just have fun to help paddy

Thank you so much!!

The white ornate structure in Nakhon Si Thammarat City is the city pillar shrine. It's a shrine rather than a Buddhist temple.

I cant wait for you to visit Lampang. You have some good friends there.
Your thumbnails are great Paddy - do you make them yourself in Canva or outsource to Fiverr?
Thanks I do them myself
Looks like some fun in the rain
well done as always. You may think your videos aren't as good when you are with friends, but I still thoroughly enjoy them. Is your drone ok?
Thanks. She died
OMB! That is the village I have many friends in, and have stayed many times!
Still a great video! Thank you
Khanom jeen Jeen is pronounced 'chin' which mean 'Chinese'.I am from Malaysia. Hv visited Nakhorn a number of times.
Wow!!!I am from Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.
Great Premier as usual Paddy D :)
Glad you enjoyed it
At time 9:52 the sign says the Khiriwong canal bridge was built in 1891 by department of public works.

@Mit Lit- I was thinking the same thing! I was hoping that Paddy gave those kids a little tip for retrieving the drone. Enough money to get a snack like ice cream or a candy bar.
Paddy, why don't you use the male form of Sawadee Kha which is Sawadee Krup?
It's OK. It made him lovely.🤗
When you can't find a word to describe a building.....try calling it a landmark. Works every time!
I actually thought this one was of your better videos! I love seeing your interaction with friends. Paddy, I have to ask though: why do you keep saying hello like a Thai school girl? It's very weird..!
Did you forget to reward that kid for retrieving your drone from the river?
Was thinking same, few 20 bht to buy a ice-cream will have been nice. Body language they were expecting something..
I hope you gave the kid a tip for getting your drone
Hope you gave the Thai kids a tip for finding your drone, if not the kids would be sad and discouraged.
Paddy..no tip for local boys who found sparky?
Was thinking same, few 20 bht to buy a ice-cream will have been nice. Body language they were expecting something..
That white temple-like building, the locals call that "main city shrine"
13:40 Pro tip: Put the drone in a box that you fill then put the drone in, then fill completely.. This will suck out the water out of your device!
Dear Paddy:Are you visiting Promalok waterfall using highway 4016?It's about 18 kilometers from town.
I love that your drone try to make underwater footage.

It is the best ozone village in Thailand. 🤗
Let the drone dry before you turn it on if you crashing it in water again :) It can be a short circuit because of the water.
You tight bugger didn't give that lad a finders fee tip, Kee Nieow 😄

Awesome video paddy, buy the DJI mini 2. It’s 550 quid, trust me it’s awesome.
How is it to fly drone in Thailand? with the regulations and so.
Hi Paddy, how often do you get pulled over by the Thai Police when you're riding Dreamy?

Paddy, are you expecting everything in life to be PERFECT. Well it isn't. So chill. I still enjoyed it. Place your drone in a bag of rice. Cheers.
Well said!
