    I've got one of these but no hard disk, if possible could you post the hard disk model number and the jumper positions, would really appreciate it. Thanks

      It is a Maxtor Fireball 3. 40GB. Jumper set to Cable Select.

      Nice one, just seen the reply, for some reason I didn't see your reply, I did manage to get the image off another one that had a faulty PSU and imaged it onto a 128gb SSD using a sata to ide bridge, tried lots of different hard disks but only the 7200rpm ones worked and Seagate brand didn't work at all, only seems to work with the WD and Maxtor ide drives, older diamond max 9 drives seem to glitch, diamond max10 and quick view ones seem to run smoothly, also the PSU needed a few of the caps on the high voltage side replacing, 50v 47uf x2 and 35v 100uf x1 (low ESR), there's 2 surface mount resistors that go faulty too, 100k 680k.

      I have got some more good news, I manage to look through the firmware and retrieve the web login user name and password:
      User name: admin
      Password: bix138
      They are case sensitive, not sure what use they'll be, there is also a FTP server built into the unit, I'm guessing it's for uploading firmware, but I haven't had a proper play with it.
      Update:
      The FTP server is for firmware management, it also allows for downloading of the raw video, it's a pretty good feature but could be dangerous if you delete or mess with the firmware.

    The one you have (DSR-DR1000/DSR-DR1000P) can record up to 6 hours. I recently got off eBay a DSR-DR1000A which can record up to 12 hours. Indeed, the noise from the fan and the 2 (aging) IDE drives is insanely LOUD! These mechanical drives are End of Life, and Maxtor HDD aren't the best either. I wonder if there's a way to replace the mechanical HDD with SSD with a "PATA/IDE TO SATA Card Hard Drive Adapter".

      Might be possible to replace the drives like that. Would depend how flexible the controller / software is with different type of drive.

      The drives are setup in a raid 0 stripe, they're a bit of a pain to work with.

    I have one and I'm thinking about converting it to ssd with a silent fan

      Let us know how that goes. Is it able to cope with new blank drives and format them as it needs?

    • @imranahmad2733
      @imranahmad2733 9 місяців тому +1

      The SSD needs to be imaged from the original drives, if you just put blank drives in they don't auto format, the drives have some software on them that's needed to boot the device, if you put just fresh drives in you'll just get an error on the display (error91-215), the error is deceptive because in the service manual it shows it as a control interface error but it's related to the drive not being read by the system, also the sata to ide bridge needs to be a compatible one, I tried 3 different ones till one worked on it.

      The error (error91-215) is also related to the drive if it doesn't read the boot software from the drive, the front panel board was a red herring, I would probably reimage the drives on to a fresh drive as I think yours might be failing.

    • @Elecami
      @Elecami  9 місяців тому +1

      @@imranahmad2733 Thanks. I might have been looking in the wrong manual to get that information about the error code. Can't remember. More likely a problem with the old drives.

      With mine it was definitely the drives that caused that particular error to come up, in the service manual it does show the error being related to the front panel but I found it's to do with the drive either not being present or failing/failed, I think the software for the altera FPGA chips are on the hard disks and if the software doesn't load the panel doesn't communicate with the rest of the system board which causes that particular error.
